      It's hard enough teaching a child who can see, hear, and speak. It would have been a huge effort to teach Helen. They persevered and they did what many thought was impossible.

      I wish they could add captions! Luckily I have one cohlear implant hearing aid. I'm born deaf both ears . I used to have that movie when I was very young. Today I learned about her in my ASL class.
      (If you are wondering why I'm in still ASL 1 class is because when I was infant. I got surgery so I can able to hear WITH my hearing aid on. Doctors want me to speak more and more speech. I'm in high school still difficult. It was so different from Elementary.) Bleh. I'm good.
      @Brady
      Lol, really? :P How can you not notice that? Deaf people can not read lips while watching the video using voice with no face. (IDK if my sentences makes sense..)
      Plus I check the video if they have caption. It is not there.

      Last week two thirty-something college graduates (from different careers) didn't know who Helen Keller was. I was surprised they didn't know her, even more because one of them has a degree in music therapy, but even after I told them a little bit about her they hadn't heard about her. So I think plenty of people in the world doesn't know about her.

    Hellen Keller was a great human being. Her life story, her words, and her voice for humanity should be heard forever, as an inspiration to the many who face adversity and to others so they may appreciate how some have very difficult lives but also have hope and compassion. We can all learn from her outstanding example of the human spirit.

      Captioned for the deaf. Helen Keller was also DEAF. People who have combined vision and hearing loss might appreciate a visual description and captions. HOWEVER, the reason I posted this comment was because a deaf friend of mine, not blind, is a professional that alps works with people with combined vision and hearing loss. She would like it captioned as well.

      Are you serious???😆🤣😂 helen keller was an avid supporter of eugenics! 🤣 She wrote letters to doctors who delivered babies born with birth defects, urging them to commit infanticide in some form. She believed that these babies would become criminals and be a drain on society. You could not have possibly come up with a more ironic statement if you had tried!🤣😂🤣😂🤣 And on a side note, she was also a socialist...likely because she grew up with wealth privilege. You'll never find a person who crawled out of poverty pushing for socialism! It's so funny, really. She believed in eugenics as a disabled person who was allowed to live, and believed in socialism while she only experienced a middle-class lifestyle. Very telling.😄🤣😂

    Helen Keller was a very intelligent women whom overcame many odds for the handicapped that fell upon her at the age of 18 months. Her teacher Ann Sullivan was marvelous in being able to reach into Helens young mind and pull out the brilliance that was hidden. The two of them together really helped educate about handicapped people and how to help aide the deaf and blind which opened a whole new world for them. Just an amazing story.

    It's because of her that my brothers my sister my friends and family and myself have the opportunity to actually have a life. As for in the past both my brothers and my sister and most of my friends would have been forcefully taken away from our Holmes and put in institutions and have done unspeakable Horrors done 2 Us. My entire family and friends are truly grateful.

    Helen Keller is my hero. I have congenital nystagmus and I have learned that people seem to think the same way about children with disabilities.

    I don't think it was about people thinking they 'didn't deserve to live' more so they know it's an incredibly difficult way to live and the obstacles are endless. Not only that, but there would be no way of knowing the amount of effort that would be needed to support them. Helen's teacher was an incredibly patient woman (and thankfully Helen's family were supportive and well-off) but this kind of support and those resources are both very rarely available to those with these conditions.

    Wow never saw the photographs. So vivid. Wonder why schools don't have these photographs. Schools are crazy.

    A video talking about a deaf person who finds her way to communicate with the world and focus in accessibility. But still the video has no subtitles and I can't show it to my deaf students. =/
