Shoutout to her teacher though for sticking with her for so long and for giving up her own time to help Hellen.
Pupidy hey thanks so much im annie sullivan for wax museum in my school

It's hard enough teaching a child who can see, hear, and speak. It would have been a huge effort to teach Helen. They persevered and they did what many thought was impossible.
Please Add Captions to this video so that the Deaf have access to it!
Helen would have wanted a bio about her to be accessible.
"would have"
Can’t you just turn on captions
Amanda McDonough m
@@killerbeealdc6983 no, because there are no captions.
•Bad Luck• I know, I noticed that.
The sad irony in fact that this video has no subtitles. What about other deaf persons (360 million worldwide, according the last WHO statistics)?
Alexander Popov it's called reading lips honey.
It's called you can't read lips on a voiceover.....
Brady lip reading is difficult and faulty. Different people with different accents form words differently.
Alexander Popov can’t you just turn on captions
I wish they could add captions! Luckily I have one cohlear implant hearing aid. I'm born deaf both ears . I used to have that movie when I was very young. Today I learned about her in my ASL class.
(If you are wondering why I'm in still ASL 1 class is because when I was infant. I got surgery so I can able to hear WITH my hearing aid on. Doctors want me to speak more and more speech. I'm in high school still difficult. It was so different from Elementary.) Bleh. I'm good.
@Brady
Lol, really? :P How can you not notice that? Deaf people can not read lips while watching the video using voice with no face. (IDK if my sentences makes sense..)
Plus I check the video if they have caption. It is not there.
A most awesome individual. My favorite quote by Helen Keller is, “There’s nothing worse than having sight and no vision.” Beautiful lady and pretty child too. Praise God for her life and legacy. Rest in peace angel.
Awesome!! My favorite of hers is “Muh mah muh muh wah tah mutta wah mah mah”
@@bullseyearcher1 are you mute?
Powerful quote
Yeah she totally came up with that quote. Totally bro. Someone that was deaf and blind from 19 months can totally grasp the meaning of words.
As a child with minimal brain dysfunction, school was very difficult for me. One teacher read a book about Helen Keller. I was inspired to attend university because of this. Previously I thought this would have been impossible.
Very underated historical figure.
Last week two thirty-something college graduates (from different careers) didn't know who Helen Keller was. I was surprised they didn't know her, even more because one of them has a degree in music therapy, but even after I told them a little bit about her they hadn't heard about her. So I think plenty of people in the world doesn't know about her.
She died in 1968. But she was overshadowed by the RFK assassination.
I am so sad that I will never be able to meet this amazing woman, but I am so happy in a sense that my words will never explain well enough that she lived a life more full of joy than most of us will ever.
You can in Heaven, and she will be able to see and hear you!
If you do some research, her teacher had a tough life and a labor of love seemed to drive her to help Helen succeed . Remarkable woman !
Hi
The professor at the end of the video spoke about Helen Keller and her living proof of being able to live a full and productive life...what an understatement! This amazing woman did so much more than many of us WITHOUT disabilities could ever do or hope to do!
Yes!! Helen did much more than most of us will ever do. We are poor next to her and even with our sight and hearing we will never achieve so many things,i won't achieve as much..i love learning and reading and i am very inquisitive since i was a child but Helen is exceptional and Anne was bright too..She is the proof that nobody is useless and that we can live even with our disabilities.
She wasn't allowed to marry, though...
Sh was a froud
Frenchie have point. Helena already did many thing when she little girl. She did eat food from her family plate. She don’t know how to eat or thing like that. Till parent hired teacher Helen Keller for full time.
@@proclivities460 , so? Why is that a point?
Helen Keller was a truly inspirational person. She defeated the notion that blind and deaf people are always going to be restricted by their disability.Helen was an advocate for disability rights, women's suffrage, and pacifism.I respect Anne Sullivan for learning Helen to finger spell and achieve the freedom to communicate effectively and live her life normally.Rest in peace Helen, you will be remembered and missed.
What a life and what an impact on history. Every now and again special human beings come along.
My tiny fragile human brain can't even comprehend how this woman could possibly learn to communicate let alone have such deep and profound thoughts. Some of her quotes hit home so hard. Life is indeed a daring adventure or nothing at all
Because she couldn't communicate. She was a fraud.
@@AverageAlien imagine being wrong lol
@@moonbound6478 Imagine being so convinced of something that allegedly happened that you cannot investigate the truth of the matter
Hellen Keller was a great human being. Her life story, her words, and her voice for humanity should be heard forever, as an inspiration to the many who face adversity and to others so they may appreciate how some have very difficult lives but also have hope and compassion. We can all learn from her outstanding example of the human spirit.
Steadman Uhlich well SAID.
Bravo !
Good even
Why isn't this captioned?!?! Seriously?! It's a Helen Keller bio.....common sense people!! #duhBio
Captions for the blind? Great idea
+Augustova Brentankya No…
Captioned for the deaf. Helen Keller was also DEAF. People who have combined vision and hearing loss might appreciate a visual description and captions. HOWEVER, the reason I posted this comment was because a deaf friend of mine, not blind, is a professional that alps works with people with combined vision and hearing loss. She would like it captioned as well.
xD.
Never know she existed.. never heard of her in School or anywhere
himiko toga what is the world coming to
My mother was the youngest of 15 kids. Her mother went blind when my mom was about 6 months old. I think her mother was about 43 when she went blind. But my mom used to always tell the story, that Helen Keller came to visit her mother once. I always thought that was kinda cool, considering they were just farmers in Northern Ohio.
If she is blind/deaf, it is ironic that this video has no closed captioning. xD.
Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke did outstanding performance in The Miracle Worker. Helen Keller was an amazing child to learn what comes easier for others. Miss Sullivan opened the world to this wonderful woman.
Annie Sullivan is underrated. No Annie Sullivan no Helen keller.
The love and dedication of her teacher! What a trooper
My high school once did The Miracle Worker as our winter play and it was magnificent. It's such a great play.
I'm deaf I have CI and I know sign language 😊. I have 266 friends in my school cuz they think I cool
That's wonderful :) I'm so happy for you
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA i think its so funny and cute that you have friends cus of a disease DUH!! they fell bad they dont "think u cool"
+Quinn Scott Shut up. You don't know that. So stfu.
Bless you and ignore the idiots!
Kaitlin Bailey that's because you are cool
Helen Keller should be remembered as a good influence for people with disabilities worldwide! She is one of my favorite international travelers and American women.
I will never forget learning about her as a child. What an amazing person. Thank you Helen.
Bless you as you RIP - a remarkable woman - i can't believe what she accomplished in her life brave brave woman
My older brother used to tell me that Helen Keller hid underneath my bed and would rip my ears off when I'm sleeping so that she could obtain them for her collection. I believed this for about a decade.
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."
- Helen Keller
One of the most incredible human beings who ever lived. I can't respect this woman enough. There are few stories as inspirational and humbling.
Such a remarkable woman! Thank you Helen Keller for all your accomplishments and contributions to the world.
When I was in 3:54 elementary school, I read every book about her i could find. She was a beautiful, intelligent woman ❤
Imagine...the State of Texas recently decided to exclude the life of Helen Keller from the educational curriculum, as not important enough..! This amazing woman was so important to history...an inspiration
Helen Keller should be remembered as one of the greatest human beings on our earth
It's an amazing story, and accomplishment by Helen and Anne any way you look at it.
My respect and honor for Kelen Keller will remain forever.
Even if you knew she was pro Eugenics?
I salute you helen keller and her teachers..much love from philipinea😍😍😍
I cried when there was a lesson in our english text book ..what a lady
Let love flow!!! Love you Helen!
how
God bless Miss Annie for not giving up on Helen Keller
Such a remarkable woman...God Bless her.
So perfect and to the point. Great to share in a classroom.
Thank God that Helen Keller showed people that other people with disabilities deserved to live and...to often thrive. She truly was an earth angel and hero.
Are you serious???😆🤣😂 helen keller was an avid supporter of eugenics! 🤣 She wrote letters to doctors who delivered babies born with birth defects, urging them to commit infanticide in some form. She believed that these babies would become criminals and be a drain on society. You could not have possibly come up with a more ironic statement if you had tried!🤣😂🤣😂🤣 And on a side note, she was also a socialist...likely because she grew up with wealth privilege. You'll never find a person who crawled out of poverty pushing for socialism! It's so funny, really. She believed in eugenics as a disabled person who was allowed to live, and believed in socialism while she only experienced a middle-class lifestyle. Very telling.😄🤣😂
@@oddlycreatetiff8920 Thank you so much for enlightening me.🤗 I apologize for my ignorance about Helen Keller. I promise that
I will read her memoir and learn more about her beliefs. Very disturbing...🤔
Helen Keller was a very intelligent women whom overcame many odds for the handicapped that fell upon her at the age of 18 months. Her teacher Ann Sullivan was marvelous in being able to reach into Helens young mind and pull out the brilliance that was hidden. The two of them together really helped educate about handicapped people and how to help aide the deaf and blind which opened a whole new world for them. Just an amazing story.
Great Woman indeed. Real Inspiration...💐❤📚
i am so happy that you guys are talking about her
Little known fact about Helen Keller: When she was in her 20's, doctors actually removed both oh her eyes and replaced them with glass ones. Helen's left eye protruded quite noticeably and wasn't too attractive. In all her early photographs, Helen was always shown in a right profile until her eyes were changed.
+John Greene I had read that before too. When I looked at a photo of her, I saw that her eyes didn't have the look of a blind person's eyes, if that makes sense. Your comment clears up that question.
Nice try. Haha

i have a cochlear tho im really serious
bless you.
Why would you be on UA-cam if you were deaf? Not hating but..
O sorry nvm CC
Good summary. I've recently created a short animation based on Helen Keller's life based on her autobiography which covers many of the same aspects of her early life but in a little bit more detail.
+ObtainEudaimonia love to see it!
Rachel Mason I'm not able to post links here but if you search youtube for 'how to overcome obstacles helen keller' it is the first result. Let me know what you think!
+laura Silveria thanks Laura, glad you liked it!
+laura Silveria I gather she's a well-known figure in the USA but it's a shame her story isn't more known elsewhere in the world. It's truly inspirational.
thank you!
A beautiful spirit who saw more than the sighted. X
dang i rememer i was in a small intervention class in 1st grade and she telled us about helen keller i will never forget those times
What a wonderful, brave woman. 👏🏼😘😘
I love this.
I couldn't imagine what opposite future would Helen have if Annie Sullivan didn't happened to her life. 💛💛💛💛
There's Patti Duke who played her in a movie. Didn't know they actually met. I remember hearing about Helen growing up. I would have been in 8th grade when she passed.
Every second just watching her or hearing her when she DID speak is a blessing in this life.
"Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content" - my Favorite Hellen Keller quote
What an Amazing person she was. :-)
Amazing and heart warming story.
my aunt is deaf and she speaks very well.
What an amazing story. Very impressive.
Jesus... if this woman doesn't motivate you to better yourself or to reach higher levels as a human being.. I don't know what will..
A wonderful human, this is what we are capable of, I would love aliens to see and hear this story before they see the rest of what we can do. I agree with Pupidy below, it really started with Ann her own tutor, until today I have never thought of or even heard of her own teacher, what an inspiration they are for all of us
SO BLESSED TO SEE THIS
Her teacher was an angel
Great LADY Very Courageous , l bow. My Head in respect ,😢👍
Beautiful picture at 3:22 I never knew Patty Duke got to meet Helen Keller.
What an amazing happy story!
This story amazes me today at the same level it did when I first learned of her 45 years ago.
This is so awesome!
There is movie made on her story called Black. It's a Bollywood movie. It's a must watch, watch it with subtitles.
Mo Khan yes i did watch it, great movie. very different from the other hindi movies which is typically lively and colourful with song and dance. Black has none of that. while it was not about Helen, it was definitely inspired by her.
It's because of her that my brothers my sister my friends and family and myself have the opportunity to actually have a life. As for in the past both my brothers and my sister and most of my friends would have been forcefully taken away from our Holmes and put in institutions and have done unspeakable Horrors done 2 Us. My entire family and friends are truly grateful.
May 2021. I truly hope you are all doing well. My thoughts went to your house, visiting you while reading your words.
Helen was soo amazing. What a challenge,,to be deaf and blind. Wow!!!!!wonderful 💜💕😂
Extraordinary.
Happy birthday Helen!❤❤
Annie Sullivan was a great teacher she had the patience of a saint
God bless to Helen Keller r,i,p😊
Helen Keller is my hero. I have congenital nystagmus and I have learned that people seem to think the same way about children with disabilities.
Yet she was pro Eugenics. Not a great quality for a hero.
What a beautiful human.
Shoutout to her teacher through for sticking
Her teacher Amazing human being!
Happy birthday, Ms Keller!
Such a good/touching story.
What a inspiring story
Bravo
She was a very interesting person very intelligent person
I don't think it was about people thinking they 'didn't deserve to live' more so they know it's an incredibly difficult way to live and the obstacles are endless. Not only that, but there would be no way of knowing the amount of effort that would be needed to support them. Helen's teacher was an incredibly patient woman (and thankfully Helen's family were supportive and well-off) but this kind of support and those resources are both very rarely available to those with these conditions.
Wow never saw the photographs. So vivid. Wonder why schools don't have these photographs. Schools are crazy.
Kid me for some reason heard the name hellen keller and everytime someone says something stupid or does something stupid i said: you sound like helen keller on a friday night (i still use it to this day lol) but seriously... props to her
This video help me to do my homework
Happy birthday Helen Keller. I pray that you have a wonderful blessed birthday. I know you're up in heaven with God enjoying your new eyes and ears. We're very grateful for everything that you did to help others here on Earth and your legacy will forever remain a symbol of strength and perseverance. God bless you I can't wait to meet you.
amazing lady
The irony that there’s no closed caption available for this video
~ She wouldn't be able to see it anyway.
I truly don’t understand how this is possible
Her teacher is the hero... she is the star
I'm literally here because of a tiktok. Now I learned about someone that had a huge impact in the world 🌎.
Amazing success. I remember reading her story and being able to put myself in her shoes and it was a dark, silent and scary world.
A video talking about a deaf person who finds her way to communicate with the world and focus in accessibility. But still the video has no subtitles and I can't show it to my deaf students. =/
Awe
I have the same birthday as Helen Keller
Brisa Ramirez June 27th
So do I.
SAME! '81 🙃🙃🙃😀
