Thank you so much for this video. I just started overheating on the way to a 4 x 4 trail, stopped at the local parts store, watched your video and this was a super simple fix. Thank you so much!
I need help i have a 05 4runner v8 i was going down the interstate and tryed to turn on my cruise control and it started overheating what would cause that
Thank you for this video. I noticed today while driving my 05 4Runner that I was losing heat, I had to turn the temperature up a lot more to achieve the same heat, didn’t notice it overheating though. My first thought was it needs a new thermostat, so then I found your video. 😊 other causes of heat loss, symptoms? Did you first drain some the coolant out before hand? Or not necessary? Also do you need to get the air bubbles out?
A heater can stop working for a number of reasons, including: A low antifreeze/water level in the radiator due to a leak in the cooling system. A bad thermostat that isn't allowing the engine to properly warm up. A blower fan that isn't working properly.
@@bryand2978 I checked the hose temp after I drove around for awhile and top hose got hot but the bottom hose was still cool, I had heat but it’s less, suggests to me a sticky thermostat, probably stuck open. Its not overheating. It is cold here though.
@@bryand2978 so my thermostat was stuck closed not letting water going in/out. So the radiator fluid was never circulating hence my pipes were both cold. Fixed mine yesterday.
Hello Out Of Line Overlander, Can you please confirm your source of information and why? Timmy the Toolman stated, according to the Toyota service manual, the Jingle valve is supposed to be at 6 o'clock position as well.

how do you know it is the thermostat? Simply you over heat and you turn on the heater and it drops a bit?
Water leaking around the thermostat or irratic temperature change.
But how did you get the old thermostat out? Did you use a screwdriver? Mine seems to be seated in there pretty solidly.
Just use a little muscle with a pair of pliers or vice grips and yank it out. You won't hurt anything.
When your thermostat went bad and you were running hot did you nice if they upper and lower radiator pipes were cold?
They would be hot the water is hot, so the hoses be hot with the water flowing through.

Did you burp the system?
Yes, I did do that
Did this fix your issue?
Yes, it fixed the issue
Jingle valve is suppose to be at the 6 o'clock on the 4.7 4Runner....... Just saying.

@@cafesami9356 because that's what Toyota said.
