Do whatever makes you happy. My dear, sweet mother never went a day without her red lipstick, and she wore it proudly until the day she died at the age of 81! That was 11 years ago. I’m 63 and I’ve worn red lipstick pretty much every day since, in her honor! It makes me happy!

My 80 year old mother N Law (my second momma) was the same way.. always had to have her hair just right (she was still dying her hair blond as well) and some makeup, with her favorite lipstick. We lost her suddenly a couple years ago after she had a fall. I made sure the funeral home had her done up just the way she liked it, and Placed her favorite lipstick in her coffin before they closed it... I'm sure she was gonna want that later. lol.

People I knew would ask me if I was OK or if I was "ready " when they saw me without makeup. Finally one day I pointed to all of the men standing around me and said "none of them have makeup on. @@Reader24987 Fixing your face should be something creative and fun that makes you feel good. If it feels like work, don't do it. If you stopped wearing it more regularly, I swear your students wouldn't ask about it anymore. People will really only react when you stop wearing makeup, if you've always worn it around them. 'Cause when you suddenly stop, it just throws them off since they've literally never seen what your face looks like without it (sometimes they just know that you look different and may not even know why)! Also, I swear your skin has to kinda get used to not having makeup on too. 'Cause, at first, you might look a little bit pale, which is why people will ask if you're sick. If you really wanna stop wearing makeup, just gradually start cutting out makeup steps and people will be much less likely to make any comment about it 'cause it won't be this sudden change in your appearance that seems to come out of nowhere. I have always vacillated between extreme poles of heavy and very light makeup looks so, people have never commented on the days that I'm only wearing mascara and lip balm 'cause me not having a full face is not something anyone flags as particularly weird. I, actually, tried cutting out my foundation for a month and just wore an illuminating moisturizer with some setting powder on top ('cause my skin is very oily) and, literally, no one said a word to me about it.

This is something I still struggle with in my 40s. In my case, it was my own mother who told me I should never let anyone see me without makeup when I was a young teen.
It was my prom date who encouraged me to go bare-faced for the first time since I was 13. When my mother saw me, she publicly shamed me & called me weak for “allowing a man to change” me. I told her it was freeing and she told me I looked ugly. I didn’t stop being called ugly until I started avoiding my family & the people I grew up with.
I even modeled briefly in my late teens but I couldn’t handle being looked at and judged any more than I already was by my family.
I’m not sure I’ll ever feel attractive, as there are decades of trauma related to my body. I learned long ago to focus on true beauty, which has always been internal. I’m disabled now and while life is full of pain & illness, it did free up some mental space for me to accept this vessel in whatever form it takes.
Going bare…maybe one day it won’t feel like I’m absolutely naked.

I’m conflicted about this. I love this for Pam and support her personal journey. However there is something really disturbing me about this. Pam has lot of surgery done to reverse the natural aging appearance of her face. I feel like this can be worse than make up because it shows that you can go make up free as long as you are still unnaturally beautiful without makeup. I also don’t think anything wrong with makeup or surgery, at least not on an individual basis, but this is sort of having it both ways. Most women can’t afford all of the natural appearance altering work needed to pull off what Pam has. I find it subversive to other women’s self-acceptance.

I go for make up... or at least my lipstick if I don't go for the full thing... or no make up for example if I go to the supermarket many times... it's relative!
If I am working, I like to have make up on... or if I go to dinner etc...
People be free to be as You like!😊❤

Natural beauty? I can't believe I'm reading this. She gets just as much work done as Madonna, just more subtly. The woman hasn't got a single wrinkle ffs! I'm 39 and have far more wrinkles and sagging than her.
Makeup isn't what causes unrealistic beauty standards! It's the surgery, laser treatments, botox, fillers and filters on pictures, etc. - all of which Anderson embraces. No make up is a marketing tool to make older women who can't afford those treatments feel even more shit about themselves.
Makeup is the one affordable and risk free way of making the best of yourself. It certainly cheers me up to apply a bit of mascara and lippy for a night out. Now we have the rich look upon makeup use with disdain... either you're a 'natural' beauty or you're not....well there is nothing natural about any of the women in the public eye who experience no wrinkles and no sagging after the age of 40....THAT is what's unnatural.
I'll embrace the first woman in Hollywood to embrace natural aging and talk about how looking her age has affected her career - perhaps then things might begin to change. She'll be my heroine, not a woman who's had countless facelifts, so much filler and botox she can barely move her face, and then just because she puts down the lippy has the audacity to tell young impressionable women she's all natural!
No makeup is a marketing tool and appears to have worked. Ironically, I believe Anderson was more authentic when she embraced her Dolly Parton look.

Exactly this! I'm only 24. My waking moment was seeing how the trends go one way and all the women and girls look the same, showing it's not about "expressing myself" but painting a different "beauty standard" face instead of making your features stand out more.
My skin is so much better since then and I literally look prettier than when I had a clean face in my makeup era, my eyelashes stopped falling out so much and are much longer too.
I spend my time and money on skin care and massages now to relax, take care of myself, rather than hide myself behind a painted face.

I’m 53 years. Never wore makeup. I wash my face, put on moisturizer and go. I let my natural salt and pepper (mostly salt) hair grow as is. I just never desired to spend extra time in the morning putting on makeup. I do love people who are great at applying makeup. The artistry and effort they put into obtaining their desired look is great. Although I could certainly benefit from using makeup, I just don’t have the energy to make that one of my daily tasks. But I also realize that this is therapy for many women and it helps them to feel even better about themselves. So I say do what makes you feel good!!!

I would love to see Pamela even go farther with this movement/new look with going to her natural hair color and then that’s when she can truly be FREE and relay that to many many people out there. Ohhhhh and I LOVE how Drew took her hair extensions off right on camera too. THANKS for posting.

Loved how in the doc she made her own perfume/ essential oil blend from flowers in her garden & journaled everyday. She was a total homebody & I really resonated with that. She eats healthy & is at peace with herself & I really admire that about her. I think if a lot of celebrities got out of the rat race of L.A. & NYC & focused on what really mattered in life they would be a lot happier.

It takes courage and vulnerabiity to present onesself naturally like this. I greatly admire these inner qualites as most don't have them. It can take decades to be this free in ones mind. And in turn, the "other" beauty shines through if one wants to take off the blindfold that society wants us to keep on. Can you imagine how the beauty industy would react if more and more women quit the masking? We all remember how she looked when she was the "babe". And we all know how it almost destroyed her. And now, it's like she has been living on this spectrum of showing us all how it can be done, she is a wonderful and brave teacher showing us how she found her peace. I started wearing minimal makeup at the age of 65 and like how I see a different version of my self looking at me in the mirror, it's fun. But I don't let it pull me too far in either direction because fact is, I will continue to look older and luckily have learned to love myself and the normal changes that accompany that. Pamela Anderson, good for you, you are to be admired!

You can do it! May you see yourself as God sees you! Because he loves you so much forever!
I have been transformed as a new creation myself! I used to feel so not pretty and I used to like makeup but as I gotten older I realized makeup isn’t necessary besides a lip tint, mascara and needing sunscreen but anyways full glam doesn’t bring me joy as I thought before . I feel it’s pointless because after it’s time to remove your makeup, it’s a lot of cleansing going on and it feels odd ya know to put that all on only to have to take off the products since it will not help your skin care if you keep the makeup on and it’s gross. Plus you’re saving so much time from not applying so much unnecessary products.
It’s so freeing with skincare time too since you don’t have to wait for your makeup to be cleansed off before doing proper skincare.

It's nice to see a celebrity embrace the ageing process and not try to fight it like so many people do by going overboard with cosmetic procedures, makeup, surgery etc to look 'younger'. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that but we all age and we shouldn't be afraid of it

Pamela seems so humble. She's softspoken and she's showing strength by standing up to the beauty 'rules' of our time. Its a prison, but you hold the key and you can walk out anytime. Stop dyeing your hair if you want, ditch the high heels, ditch the makeup, ditch the skin care routine. You are free. And if you want to keep doing those things thats fine too! No judgment on whatever you choose to do. Its funny to see that these women are not so different without makeup. They are still instantly recognisable. And just as talented and witty and intelligent.

Yes, she is letting her true self shine through. She is very kind and intelligent. As she said, the characters she created were just personas for the public because that’s what sells. She was only getting roles that showcased her physical self, but not her intellectual self. Now that she’s older and more mature, and probably doesn’t need to work as much anymore, she can afford to be more authentic.

But i do wear lots of sunscreen and don’t smoke, alcohol plays a big factor in in your looks. I went on vacation with my husband recently and all we did was drink, let me tell you the next few mornings i did look like 51. Soon as i got home i detox and drank lots of water and went to bed early. It took some days but i got back to normal .
