- My Nieces Husband gave me this forgotten and abused Greenfield Little Giant tap and die set. Let's clean it up and give it some love.

I really appreciate you taking the time to bring back what's left of that set! My grandmother worked for GTD for over 20 years, starting in the '70s. Dad worked there for a short time but was laid off when they started downsizing the operation. I work at what is left of GTD, now owned by a different company. I love my "OK Jr." tap and die set. It's missing a few pieces but I use it occasionally working on my vehicles and boats.

I've seen quite a few old tap and die sets on FB marketplace and whatnot. I often steer clear of that stuff, I just feel that if they're selling them, what wrong with them? Lol. (It's usually something 😏)
I love old tools, the quality and sometime elegance of the tool/s is often better than our now throw away culture provides. In any case, glad you lucked out 👍😁👍. Cheers!

Older set than mine, and mine only goes up to 1/2. Company I worked for had a policy of replacing broken, stolen. lost tools. Somebody raided my toolbox over night, so they "replaced" my taps & dies. They bought me a Little Giant Set 1/4 to 1/2 in a metal box with foam lining. The set has been in my possession for almost 40 years, but I never really used it. It is in almost brand new condition except for a little staining over the years. I guess I will have to ebay it since I am now retired and still never use it. The greatest thing about it is that you can sharpen the dies.
It cleaned up really well. They were really exceptionally free of rust to begin with. You could easily find the missing pieces and complete the set if you wanted to. It's a nice old quality set.
I also like to collect little giant greenfield taps and die sets along with any other tap and die set I can put my hands on I hope you find my collection very interesting

Very nice, I have a similar set that came out of my old automotive machine shop. Mine is missing a couple of taps and the box has a piece of wood split off of it. I showed it in one of my earlier videos. I cleaned mine with mineral spirits because it was most covered with oily dirt. Thanks for sharing.

Great gift. The taps and tap holder can be replaced. Save the look of the box. If it could talk, the stories it could tell. Careful you don't dry it too fast and crack the wood. No matter the size of the container....it's a cup of coffee! LOL Great cleanup project. A nice addition to ny shop. See you next time.

I have the same set mine was auction find 10 bucks it was a full set one tap replaced yours came out great hope mine looks half as good
