I'm a commercial electrician and have a plastic covered box that holds 6/32, 8/32, 10/14, 10/32, 1/4 by 20, & 3/8" bottom, Middle & finish Taps along with drill bits. Always include a drill bit one size smaller if tapping a hole in thin metal. For metal 3/16" & thicker usually hit the hole with a counter sink to make it easier to start thread. Have some gun tape and carry EV Greenlee set that has a combination drill bit ,tap & countersink.
Good solid advice on tap and dies, Adam. Your local area is fortunate to have you and your job shop as a resource; getting harder to find small jobs shops that will deal with the general public and small businesses.
Hanson used to sell high quality SAE and metric tap and die sets. My SAE set is close to 25 yrs old. It is still a complete set. I do buy good sharp taps and dies at auctions if they are bigger sizes I don't have. I also buy good pipe taps. Al B,
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 oh ok, there are some at a auction I’m going to Friday I might pick up, also a small bench top shaper and bench top horizontal mill so hopefully I’ll be bringing home some goodies
