That’s an open patent red dot that a lot of companies are making with their name on it. I wouldn’t spend the money Viridian is asking when you can get a Vector Frenzy for $130
yes, so the Viridian has a "daylight bright" green dot. ive tried a couple different brands that didn't get bright enough. (I found that brightness is hit or miss with the cheap rds) I have not tried the vector in this frame, though tempting) Viridian has updated this model a few times I noticed.
I wanted the Holosun Comp back in about February, but they weren't available to the masses yet. I spent the extra money on an SRO then so my first full size training/comp gun wouldn't go without a dot for 3-4 months.
I just got my 507comp and shot my best match with it (had SRO before). Looking closely side by side the windows are nearly identical in dot travel off-center, the SRO wins by just a hair vertically, but for my eyes, the 507comp just looks better. The shroud disappears more and I just see dot, I was able to call my shots much better with it.
In Canada , the 507 Comp will likely cost $200 to $250 USD less than the SRO. The SRO is about $650 USD on sale up here right now . I like my SRO and my R3Max’s but I’ll be picking up a couple 507 Comp’s when they show up, though I wish they had a 407 Comp option with just a 5-6 MOA dot - I doubt I’ll use any reticle on the 507 C besides the 8 MOA circle.
The earlier review you had comparing the SRO to the Comp you mentioned the window wasn’t as big and the issues were just the same. That for the small price difference the SRO was still your choice. I’m surprised on the 180
They dropped the price to 299 or something. At that price combined with the reliability on the one I have been testing it does make sense to look at it.
In Europe Sro ~1000€ 507comp ~ 500€ (if you can find one) Sadly i am not rich enough for an Sro so i have 2 507comp at backorder... With a Green dot, which i prefer
507 comp: made by Chinese factories for 70$ selling for 370$ SRO: made by Americans for 250$ selling for 500$ If it’s about the money just say it. We all have Chinese electronics (mostly due to the lack of American manufacturers). But some people would rather pay the extra money to support American.
This is a comment on an older video with a relevant question to a recent video. You mentioned how you can be too poor to buy a product. Well in terms of competition optics. Not duty ones. Is there a functional equivalent? Lastly let’s also do the same thing but with duty optics. What is the “just pay for the reliable one”.
Trijicon for too long rested on being the only one it’s weight class whether it be acog, vcog, illuminated scopes, and red dots. Then technology caught up while they just collected profits and remained stagnant. Unless they do something soon trijicon will be just something people buy to larp.
Agree...sights like acog built the company.....but now ....not sure what to think....I know I won't sell my acog or rmr....but probably won't buy more unless they start moving their ass to innovate....
I have two Holosun 507C's. One is the Primary Arms ACSS Vulcan. My ACSS Vulcan is awesome and I am amazed more shooters don't use them. I will only buy an ACSS Vulcan as long as they keep making them...or become outrageously expensive. :)
I'm just an average b class, but anyone else have issues with open emitters? The few times I've been at a rainy day match and an SRO, I basically had to point shoot. Thinking of going closed (EPS OR 509T) full time despite their smaller windows...wondering how people at CO nationals faired with open emitters...
Interested in the Comp but the red version. SRO will never be dead to me, I’ve had great luck with them. Imo the price isn’t the issue between these. Reliability first and dot brightness, Sun reflection is something but not too bad. The $100 price difference doesn’t break the bank for me over 3-5 years. I’m more of a buy/cry once type.
Yeah man, I mean I’m not gonna jump ship on mine because they are still working. But I’m probably not replacing one when one breaks and it’s beyond Trijicon fixing it for me.
I really like the 507 comp. Just hoping it lasts, I’ve had 4 holosuns go back to holosun in the last 3 years so not too confident in the company right now.
Hey Ben, maybe a dumb question but what do you think about the circle reticle (without the dot in the middle) that holosun has? My brain jus thought maybe it would allow for better target or small spot focus since your looking into or through the circle
I'm keeping my SRO after I took it to a pretty strenuous rifle class that had me rolling in the dirt and slamming my holstered pistol into barricades and the ground. When it was all said and done, my rear sight had fallen off but my SRO was fine. This also after about 2 dozen matches and 7k plus rounds fired with the SRO on my gun. Are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Absolutely.
I love my SRO but the price was ridiculous. I have a 507 comp now also and I'm shooting my first match with it tomorrow. 2 moa is my favorite setting on it. All the other settings are too busy for me.
3:10 for anyone on the fence as a first purchase the sro is done. For anyone who has a sro their mind won’t change cause they already own it….until it brakes hahaha the yes the 507comp will be a go to.
I prefer the Comp over the SRO all day and twice on Sunday. My only complaint is that I would have preferred 3 SKU's for 2.5, 5, and 10 moa instead of the multiple reticle. Other than that I just plan on shooting the hell out of it to see if it holds up as well as the 507CX2's.
All my pistol red-dots are Holosun at this point because the price to performance is just better than anything the EU/US brands are able to do. Also a big fan of the holosun aems/510c for PCC. If holosun made a good lpvo I would probably switch all my optics to them tbh. If the EU/US brands diden't price gauge so hard to justify their military contracts I would probably go for them over a Chinese product though.
@@Oysteims most of not all American component and accessory manufacturers use foreign OEMs or materials also. Kind of a moot point since Trijicon doesn't make the damn things anymore. 2.5's and 5's are unobtainium. Any site that says they have them in stock is lying.
Love the SRO. I have one that just broke after 80k rounds and tens of thousands of dry fires. Trijicon sent me a brand new one to replace it. I have 6 SRO in total and all work flawlessly. The SRO I had to send for warranty was on a Glock 34. Some of my other red dots include a Romeo 3 max on my 320 max and a 507C on a Glock 34. I would rather spend the extra money on the Trijicon SRO. My second choice would be the Romeo Max. I personally don't like the 507C nearly as much as the SRO. Modern Samarsui pushes the 507C and trashed Sig optics, don't know why. The China made 507C seems to be the flavor of the moment. I will stick to an American company that product is 100% American made. Especially since they make an excellent product and have excellent customer service.
I like that holosun brought out a competitor. Holosun has known reliably, they know how to build optics. I won’t be buying one anytime soon though I have three sro’s and two would have to brake first.

I’m typically not the guy that does this but I’m going to this time… “I’m buying the Chinese one cause the American made one is too expensive” Is essentially what this video is saying. I get it your money is valuable to you and you don’t want to waste it but I’m sorry you have to know that the Holosun is made by underpaid employees (probably some kid being forced into child labor) whereas the Trijicon is being made by Americans that are being paid a decent wage. There is ALWAYS a reason you pay more for a product and it is NOT just because of the name on the side of it. Does the name on the side factor in? Possibly but I can guarantee it’s not the only reason.
What failures are you having on your Rival-S? I had a ton of FTF's that screwed up me up on a match. Tip of round would eat the feed ramp and get stuck. I've only heard about it from a couple of people but none of the reviewers online mention failures nor are there really any posts online I've seen.
@@edsai2041 yes! Any flat nose ...it eats the bottom of the ramp and stops. Especially the polycoated ones. I've had alot of FTE ...the spent case was half out of the barrel and the rounds were trying to feed into the bottom of the case which required me to manually engage SL ,drop mag and tip up for case to fall . Major competition atom bomb. ....currently my gun is getting new barrel cut and fresh extractor and spring to see if solves. The org. Barrel was milled with higher material on right side of the ramp and angle of ramp had that stoppage issue. So well see ....I'll know more in a week ....Also upon closer inspection, sear spring had burs that prevented full engagement and had some burs on the drop downs and slide channels that had to get buffed out
@@joebeliever all my failures were with factory 124gr (mostly Norma, some Geco). On my ramp you can see in the carbon the bullet trail not centered going up the ramp. That was the 🚬 🔫.
People reviewing these optics usually say something like “Holosun is great for the money.” In my experience, they are great PERIOD. Pricing is just the cherry on top.
@@MoistNuggeteer I went through 5 of them in 2021 in 30,000 total rounds. It's substantive data point for someone who shoots a lot considering I haven't had any SRO issues in 50k rounds between 3 of them
The most reliable dots I have ever had. Had a lot of the other ones going to stay with the SRO🤘🤘 hope that commy dot works out good for you. Keep up the good work love all the UA-cam stuff and podcasts 👍👍
I think pronouncing the SRO "dead" is a little premature. We know that the SRO can last 60k rounds before the glass pops out but we don't have that sort of endurance testing for the C&H, the Holosun 507Comp, or the new Gideon Optics Omega
If you are paying 500 + for an SRO you are getting cheated. I picked mine up for 399 just last year. And consistently see them for 400-450 with free shipping. Still think they are better than anything out there for the price. 2.5 MOA dot for me.
I'd rather pay a little extra more to keep my countrymen up in Michigan employed instead of contributing to the meager salaries of Chinese sweatshop workers.
@@Eisernkreuz They are not "Assembled in the USA", they are indeed "Made in the USA" so you're getting as close as possible. Further, imported from where? Japan, UK - friendly countries with high wages?
Nothing /wrong / with Holosun, I just don't like them being made in China. I'm willing to pay an extra $100-200 to support American companies, even if they're not exactly the most innovative or competitive. On top of that, reputation for durability is something that EoTech (Though even their magnifiers are now made in China so I'm not getting a G43 anytime soon), Trijicon, and Aimpoint (Save for the ACRO) have over ALL chinese brand optics.
I've been wondering, is Holosun a straight up Chinese company or are they only manufactured there? I've looked into it and can't find a solid answer. They operate out of Cali and seem to be owned by some Canadian holding company, but where their actual place of origin/HQ is, no idea
For all the idiots in the comments you do realize the owner of Holosun is a Chinese-American right? And they’re based in California they just source and have some parts made in China but are moving production to the US… And the 509T is even better than the SRO/507COMP because it’s totally enclosed. Just sayin’.
so, instead of saying it's dead to you, why not say, it's gotten older and better products are now available? It served you well, now you're moving on.... the title makes it sound like you hated it from day one.
Eh I don't think the SRO is really dead. When the 508T came out, everyone said it was going to replace the RMR. Then the enclosed emitter optics came out that were supposed to replace the open emitter ones. I'm more aligned with the belief that people are riding the hype train on the next newest thing; not saying you're doing that, just voicing my generalized opinion. Trijicon's warranty and where it's made are the reason why I won't go with another brand. They have a track record and even other manufacturers use their footprint for their RDS' because Trijicon paved the way. SRO might get replaced with a "Type 2" but I don't see them being replaced by other dots for pistols in my safe.
I'm really liking these 3-4 min clips on one topic.

More companies need to make offerings with an acss.
It’s proprietary to Primary Arms unfortunately
@@SullyCortez Trijicon used to have them in some acog varieties. No more, unfortunately
If my Rival-S ran as flawless as my 2.5 SRO...I'd be DM by now 😢😂
What failures are you having on your Rival-S?
I ran another 600 rounds through it just trying to wear it in and the problems may be gone because no failures in the last 100-150rds or so. the barrel cut observation is interesting. would love to know if the problem is fixed when you get everything back together.
@@edsai2041 yes I was using s&b124 and some other factory stuff....also any OAL of ammo must be under 1.2, 1.15 to be safe otherwise the rounds wouldn't feed , gunsmith said because its not centered while being fed in ....and the ramp being off. On my ramp you can see in the carbon the bullet trail not centered going up the ramp. That was the 🚬 🔫.
And all my issued didn't start till 3k+. North of 7k now.
People reviewing these optics usually say something like “Holosun is great for the money.” In my experience, they are great PERIOD. Pricing is just the cherry on top.
Nice T-shirt! 🤣🤣
But is the 507 going to last more than 3,000rds before its craps out like the rest of the holosuns?.....
That is not the experience that I and many others have had with Holosun products.
Commy dot 😂 🤡
Hell, I’m limping along with a 407.
I think pronouncing the SRO "dead" is a little premature. We know that the SRO can last 60k rounds before the glass pops out but we don't have that sort of endurance testing for the C&H, the Holosun 507Comp, or the new Gideon Optics Omega
Your shooting $25,000 worth of ammo a year what another $200 for an SRO. 😂
Comment won the internet, ha ha ha
If you are paying 500 + for an SRO you are getting cheated. I picked mine up for 399 just last year. And consistently see them for 400-450 with free shipping. Still think they are better than anything out there for the price. 2.5 MOA dot for me.
Once a while lemon is out there
I only shoot green dots so...
What about the sig Romeo 3 max? I’ve heard that those are the bomb
SRO IS STILL KING
I'm suspicious of everything made by C&H precision, their plates are infamous for being inconsistent, and their hardware is crap.
The DeltaPoint Pro is much better. I’m done buying SRO’s
Damnit, just bought thr SRO. Report back to us on the holosun dot at 50k
You're gonna be happy with it. Just could've saved a bit of cash.
Every dot has its day.
I'd rather pay a little extra more to keep my countrymen up in Michigan employed instead of contributing to the meager salaries of Chinese sweatshop workers.
They still got imported internals so what are you really paying for? Overpriced final assembly?
@@Eisernkreuz They are not "Assembled in the USA", they are indeed "Made in the USA" so you're getting as close as possible. Further, imported from where? Japan, UK - friendly countries with high wages?
Sell me one of yours please.
They have become the Glock of optics.
Supporting the Chinese military industrial complex
Nothing /wrong / with Holosun, I just don't like them being made in China. I'm willing to pay an extra $100-200 to support American companies, even if they're not exactly the most innovative or competitive. On top of that, reputation for durability is something that EoTech (Though even their magnifiers are now made in China so I'm not getting a G43 anytime soon), Trijicon, and Aimpoint (Save for the ACRO) have over ALL chinese brand optics.
Try 3-400.
I've been wondering, is Holosun a straight up Chinese company or are they only manufactured there? I've looked into it and can't find a solid answer. They operate out of Cali and seem to be owned by some Canadian holding company, but where their actual place of origin/HQ is, no idea
😢
For all the idiots in the comments you do realize the owner of Holosun is a Chinese-American right? And they’re based in California they just source and have some parts made in China but are moving production to the US… And the 509T is even better than the SRO/507COMP because it’s totally enclosed. Just sayin’.
It would be smart to move production out of China soon, their labor rates are going up significantly. Mexico is the cost leader for us now.
The other thing that keeps me coming back is its an American company for those who feel that's relevant.
How dare you sir
Heresy!
so, instead of saying it's dead to you, why not say, it's gotten older and better products are now available?
It served you well, now you're moving on.... the title makes it sound like you hated it from day one.
Welcome to the internet
Eh I don't think the SRO is really dead. When the 508T came out, everyone said it was going to replace the RMR. Then the enclosed emitter optics came out that were supposed to replace the open emitter ones. I'm more aligned with the belief that people are riding the hype train on the next newest thing; not saying you're doing that, just voicing my generalized opinion. Trijicon's warranty and where it's made are the reason why I won't go with another brand. They have a track record and even other manufacturers use their footprint for their RDS' because Trijicon paved the way. SRO might get replaced with a "Type 2" but I don't see them being replaced by other dots for pistols in my safe.
it's already happening; open your short sighted eyes.
Closed emitters aren't going away
