Thirukkanoor - Sri Karumbeeshwarar Temple/திருக்கானுர் கரும்பீசர் கோயில்

This temple is located at about 7 kilometres from Thirukattupalli temple. From thirukattupalli, travel north for about 3 kms to Vishnampettai and from there take the road on the right and travel for 4 kms to reach the temple. No public transportation is available here, only private vehicles to be used. The same priest who is handling puja in Thirukattupalli is taking care of this temple too. It will be better to visit both the temples together, take his help from Thirukattupalli and visit the temple. The last three kilometres is a mud road, it is advised to travel only during day time. Temple Puranam:
Parvati is believed to have performed tapa here and Siva appeared to her in his Agni aspect (as a column of fire). Parasuramar is also believed to have worshipped at this shrine.
Special Features:
1. In 1924, the temple got buried in the earth when there were floods. Sometime later, a single sugarcane grew on it and, when excavation was undertaken at this spot, this temple was found. Therefore, Siva is called Karumbeeshwarar from `Karumpu' meaning sugarcane.
2. Now this place is called Manalmedu because there is only a sand dune and no settlement here.
3. The Vimana is globular in shape.
4. The Ambal idol is made of Salagrama.
5. The sun's rays illuminate the sanctum during the Tamil month of Chittirai for a period of 3 days. Sivarathiri and Arudra darsanam is being celebrated here.

this temple is not for the sugar related God. The temple related to Sugar god is near Tiruvavur and the God name is Kovil Venni. As said by the priest Mr Vivekanandan
