    Lovely idea to scratch the feather-like texture into the molding paste! I would love to see this after you painted it!

    Thanks for the tutorial.
    Can I ask why you did not trace the bird on a clear acetate/mylar/parchment material....... and using that as a mask, before applying the modeling paste through the final stencil ?

      So what you might try (as an experiment), is to use the stencil as to make a clear glossy slippery mask, then remove the stencil, paint some stuff on the backround, and wipe off the extra paint off the glossy
      stenciled area...... just as an experiment.

    • @FreqBand
      @FreqBand 3 роки тому

      trick is..... leave the glossy area dry for a few days..... and kiss your boyfriend in the mean time.

    Hi Elizabeth. I tried this technique with Golden light molding paste on canvas that was gessoed and painted with acrylic paint. And to my dismay even after drying overnight in my dry desert climate it peeled and scraped right off with my fingernail. Any suggestions ?

      Wow no idea. Call golden and ask to speak to a materials specialist. They will help you!

    What is the difference between the light modeling paste and heavy? Is one more dimensional or is it just the finished weight of the paste when dried?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 роки тому

      There is a very different feel between the two that is hard to describe. Light is like foam and heavy is much more slick in surface.

    Is it best to wait for modelling paste to dry or semi dry before removing a stencil as I don't have a steady hand, and pretty sure I'll make a mess of the artwork?
    Secondly what is the best thickness of stencil to use to get a good effect? I'm from the UK and most stencils on offer here are only 190gsm thick which is more suited for use with spray paints instead of modelling paste.

      I do not wait because I do not want the stencil to stick/dry into it. Here in the US the stencils are all the same thickness and I'm not sure what that is. They are very thin but work just fine for molding paste as well!

    Hi great piece of art I love it I’m interested in buying your patterns, one question I am looking to reproduce or repair a table top from an old 1930s looks to be a plaster, or gesso material and I wanted to use molding paste to re-create/repair the table top. would you recommend that?
