8:10, not only offering but also understanding that an abundance of piñons also bring unwanted pain. Elder’s always said that if you get an abundance of pinon, there will be an abundance of loss. Mother natures way of saying here is crop for you as I will take from you as well. Unfortunately a balance we must have.
@@vaughnawelagte994 yes Elahkwa! Something I wanted to mention but forgot to. I recall when the Covid time was still very bad, that following year we had so much pinions but unfortunately paid with our loved ones. Always have to respect the cycle and know everything in this world has balance ❤️
It’s hunting season on my Rez hunting season starts right after our annual feast but still have to pick some pinion so I can put in my deer stew when wen I bag out this year we natives should be proud that some of us have pinion trees on our Rez and don’t have to fight the other crowds on national forest 😊 I hope everyone has a good harvest this year and hope every Rez family gets meat in the freezer this fall weather it be deer or elk to nourish our bodies ❤ Happy Picking And Happy Hunting may the great Creator look down on us all 😊 everyone have a good rest of your year 2024 Peace ✌🏽
@@ilposteraro I would keep in the fridge for up to a year or at least until you eat them all. Some people also freeze them for up to 2 years. So flavor will go away over time the longer you keep it but it is still edible. However fridge, freezer or cool dry place is always best instead of just on a shelf as they contain lots of oils that taste old after awhile.
The best part about piñon picking, besides eating it, is wondering around in the woods and everyone taking a lunch. Plus it’s a good time to look for clay and see what deer and elk sign there is for upcoming hunting season.
@@clar7984 this was just yesterday. There is plenty! Just kind of have to look around for them cause most have not fallen yet, but maybe more in a different area
@@RockinD-o6b I was kidding 😁 we found these during a cruise to miller canyon but I’m hearing there is more other areas, guess we just have to go out looking 😄
@@FireFighter41 we actually had deer meat to process when we got home from family who got one and shared. Hope to do a video soon of jerky or deer meat recipe

How long can you store piñon?
