I’m young so this was only the second year I was an Ohio State fan and this was the first loss I experienced it was a sad day... and then the next game vs Clemson hurt too although they were both good games

Actually Jim Tressell gave Mark Dantonio his first real coaching job(defensive coordinator) at Youngstown State in 1986-he was a graduate assistant at Ohio,Purdue,Butler CC,Ohio State and a DB coach at Akron in 1985(my uncle played for him there)Tressell then made him DC at YSU in 1986.I don't now where you have this theory about top recruits not mattering-I disagree,it doesn't guarantee success but it doesn't hurt them either.For further proof of this look at Phil Steele's website and he breaks down high school recruits ratings after those individuals have been drafted into the NFL and the facts don't match up with your points.I think a lot of HS kids burn out when they reach the big time programs because there are just as many talented kids as them who are just as big and fast as them.Who do you think you guys are going to get as your new coach?

I was always afraid Michigan's State's defense was going to tear up OSU.. I was thinking OSU would win 14-7 or around there. I can not believe how badly the OSU defense was. It felt like every play a guy was chasing after Cook but barely ever got to him in time.. Michigan State's DBs/secondary showed up(Dennard is a beast), Ohio State's DBs did not. However I feel like Ohio State showed up Michigan State's defense with 24 points.

I don't even think its coaching thats the problem.. all year silly mistakes from DBs, whether they were a freshman or a senior - cost us so many points, and this game. Roby was supposed to step up and be a leader. We had lots of depth, but not much real experience. 2 Senior safeties, one who broke his ankle halfway through the season, were our leaders. Roby needed to step up as a junior but failed to do so as a coverage CB. Next year I feel will be much better, especially if Ryan Shazier stays.
Valid points. But isn't it the coaches job to put their players in the best positions to make plays regardless of them being freshman, or Seniors? That's their job to begin with, right and what's the point of practicing, and preparing all week for games if you're going to play as poor as they did? I don't think it'll be as bad as some are making it out to be. Roby can play aggressive and jam pretty well, and as long as there is a deep safety(something we have done pretty well when the safety is in a good position) it won't be easy to make completions. I wanna see Jameis Winston go off on Auburn's defense!

@79steelymatt. First off I'm a Bama fan not a Spartan fan. I was merely referring to the fact that oswho was not as good as they thought they were. And I always keep it in proper perspective.
In 2011-2013 they had 2 different divisions called Legends and Leaders. These divisions did not care about Geography at all, so OSU and MSU happened to be in different divisions despite both being on the east side. In 2014, Maryland and Rutgers were added to the conference and the B1G decided to create the east and west divisions that exist today.
This defense was something else, man. I truly believed they could have and would have beaten that Florida State team, but alas, it was not meant to be.
There's a strong probability that Clemson will beat OSU in the Orange Bowl. Ohio State hasn't locked horns with teams of the same caliber that Clemson has. Clemson may be ACC, but they play on the same level with their SEC cousins. And the environment in Miami won't be easy for OSU either.....a wall of fucking orange in every direction. Clemson is closer by, and will fill that stadium all the way to the top. It's going to look like The State of South Carolina has sent a huge invasion force down I-95 LOL.

This makes it two years in a row where teams have been ranked very high based on their record and not on who they beat, both being exposed when playing a good team. This year is Ohio State and last year was Notre Dame.
That's why they should go to an 8 team playoff instead of 4. It's just too difficult to figure out the best teams in a 12-13 game season. The over looked teams will beat the overrated teams.

Brian Larsen The 2012 Outback Bowl was a great win for MSU, but the Spartans tied a 10-4 GA team with about 10 seconds to play and then won in triple overtime on a block field goal. I'm not sure sure that qualifies as "[taking] it to them." As you point out, MSU has some trouble with Alabama the previous year; but you neglected to mention that two years before that MSU had a two-touchdown loss against GA.
Ohio State's defense was PATHETIC. It still is going to be pathetic. On the contrary, Michigan State's defense last year was one of the best in history. Reminds me of Michigan's 1997 defense led by Charles Woodson.

I don't think it'll be as bad as some are making it out to be. Roby can play aggressive and jam pretty well, and as long as there is a deep safety(something we have done pretty well when the safety is in a good position) it won't be easy to make completions.

Can someone explain to me why the two teams in this game are both in the Big 10 East? I thought it was always the east vs the west.
They changed the divisions
In 2011-2013 they had 2 different divisions called Legends and Leaders. These divisions did not care about Geography at all, so OSU and MSU happened to be in different divisions despite both being on the east side.
In 2014, Maryland and Rutgers were added to the conference and the B1G decided to create the east and west divisions that exist today.
This defense was something else, man. I truly believed they could have and would have beaten that Florida State team, but alas, it was not meant to be.
Winning in Atlanta in 21 was a blast but I would be a liar if I didn't say I missed this defense

There's a strong probability that Clemson will beat OSU in the Orange Bowl. Ohio State hasn't locked horns with teams of the same caliber that Clemson has. Clemson may be ACC, but they play on the same level with their SEC cousins. And the environment in Miami won't be easy for OSU either.....a wall of fucking orange in every direction. Clemson is closer by, and will fill that stadium all the way to the top. It's going to look like The State of South Carolina has sent a huge invasion force down I-95 LOL.

This makes it two years in a row where teams have been ranked very high based on their record and not on who they beat, both being exposed when playing a good team. This year is Ohio State and last year was Notre Dame.
That's why they should go to an 8 team playoff instead of 4. It's just too difficult to figure out the best teams in a 12-13 game season. The over looked teams will beat the overrated teams.

I was not a fan at all and always put college football on the back burner of sports. It was impossible for teams that were good to play the best, since schedules are already made out, that's why you see the same schools constantly play in the championship and other bcs bowl games. Those schools that are not super well-known would of been impossible to make it far, even if they were a "bcs buster". Hopefully in the playoff system, we'll see programs that will finally make names for themselves, like what University of Miami did in the 80s.

Brian Larsen The 2012 Outback Bowl was a great win for MSU, but the Spartans tied a 10-4 GA team with about 10 seconds to play and then won in triple overtime on a block field goal. I'm not sure sure that qualifies as "[taking] it to them."
As you point out, MSU has some trouble with Alabama the previous year; but you neglected to mention that two years before that MSU had a two-touchdown loss against GA.

Ohio State's defense was PATHETIC. It still is going to be pathetic. On the contrary, Michigan State's defense last year was one of the best in history. Reminds me of Michigan's 1997 defense led by Charles Woodson.

Its kind of funny that you have people in here that cheer on the big ten saying Ohio State finally played a real team.... Well Wisconsin wasn't a push over and it's not our fault that the teams in the BIG can't seem to keep it together year after year....... Wonder why our schedule looks weak, take a look at conference in a whole....

The Buckeye's schedule is so weak that many analyst say that before Braxton Miller got hurt, they would of been 11-1 and would now be 10-2 since he's not playing. Seriously dude, look at the schedule. There's teams in non-power 5 conferences that have a tougher schedule.

at the end of the day ohio state is pulling in top 2 recruiting classes each year. we were 1 game away from the title with jim tressels upperclassmen. meyer is pulling in classes the sec is jealous of. michigan state won the game but like with any other team they had their year. next year ohio state will be among the top 4 in the country and mich st will be maybe ranked 16th.
