  • In episode 4 of the RAM CAMP van conversion project we start by wiring all the 120-volt and 12-volt to the power center. Then we install two 2,000 watt Inverters, our 250 amp hour lithium battery, and finish the solar installation. After all the work is done we test the 12-volt, 120-volt and inverter systems. Enjoy episode 4 of the RAM CAMP project.

The 2nd inverter still doesn’t make any sense to me. Why not just plug into a receptacle connected to the first inverter?

There are a couple reasons for both inverters. One is, we are working with both of these companies on this project, and it demonstrates two different types of inverters. Another reason is, one 15 amp receptacle’s max capacity is equivalent to 1800 watts, so for example, if you are using a hair dryer you can only use one receptacle at a time. A second inverter allows you to use two (a hair dryer and a coffee maker) 120-volt devices in the van at the same time.

Did the small inverter provide “clean” sign wave 120volts?
