Another great video, Dr. Chung! Thank you for providing us with some food for thought. The bottom end is so different from any other body part. I'm so glad you make videos illuminating these differences.
Doctors can throw jargon around that intimidates the patient without giving a full explanation. It's great to hear a description of these procedures in layman's terms, delivered in such a friendly, enthusiastic manner from a professional.
I hope that others in your field are watching and listening. Maybe one day you'll offer an online program to help people around the world make friends with their bottom end! It could be a safe place for sufferers to share their stories and advice.

Great video! However, in the case of a chronic fissure with a sentinel pile present, surgery is the option, isn't it? The sentinele pile cannot be removed by any other means as far as I know. Thank you!

I've had chronic anal fissures (2) for almost 3 years and after creams and rounds of Botox and no help, I needed surgery. I had my surgery this morning, I got a LIS and fissurectomy. I was told I got some dissolvable stitching. I'll update you on how I recover, but it's going well so far.

@@pp-ik6wj first 3 days were actually horrible, and pretty painful. I was beginning to regret the surgery. After a bm on day 3, the pain actually got better. Im on day 5 with little to no pain & feel good. Only had the 1 bm but it was considerably less painful than before the procedure. I was more scared than anything. If i continue to have minimal/no pain with bm i would say its well worth it for me, because the fissure pain is unbearable.

It didn't used to itch when I used it for a month but now it does so I had to quit it. Do you have any tips based on your experience on how to stop the itching? My anal sphincter is super tight

@@RBedair5560 I stopped using diltiazem, the itching is too much. Also I have not healed because my anal sphincter is always contracted, it just doesn't relax, I have not done any exercises so am not sure if that helps. Also I didn't do surgery because I don't trust any of the doctors around my area. I take stool softeners(docusate sodium) everyday. The stool softers help, so right now am just praying and hoping to god some medicine pops up that doesn't cause itching and can relax the sphincter muscle so I can heal. Without your sphincter relaxing, you will not heal

I have had 2 colonoscopies over the years. First when I was 25 and the second when I was 34. The only thing that was detected was small internal hemorrhoids. Please follow the protocol given to you. It is generally not painful. You may feel a bit gassy and sore for a couple of days. But, the benefits outweigh the risks by a lot.

Is the fissurectomy same as houseflap plastia? If not, what is the difference? Are both as painful? Should I avoid the whole prosedure? My doctor suggested the houseflap plastia with my fissure. I do not want any surgery. I have suffered after botox injections and I do not want anyone to touch my anal canal ever again😳, but my chronic fissure is still there😪.

Going on 7 months of chronic anal fissure. A month ago turned into an abscess and eventually fistula. I have surgery in 4 days. If these surgeries are a no go for you, what would you recommend? My life has been turned upside down for almost 7 months with excruciating pain. No other medical intervention has worked. I'm having a fistulotomy and fissurectomy with botox injections. I just want my life back. But hearing you say you would never do these surgeries... It feels hopeless.
