- today we perform a quick cleaning of the throttle body and the IAC to solve an intermittent start then die condition. applies to many toyotas that use the 3s or 5s-fe engine.
I have a 1991 Camry with only 113k miles on it. It was running fine and just today it did what you mentioned. It's starts right up then dies. Thank you for this video. I'm going to try it
very good
Excellent video. Thank You.
I recently cleaned my throttle plate n didn't know I could clean the body as well. Thanks
Just tried it on my 00 camry with 169K. Hope it worked. 🙏 in case of screw stripping i used some WD40 and wise grip pliers to turn them loose. 👍
I've seen it before but you explain it the best.
thank!
Thanks for the advice brother. Helped me in my situation.
Glad to help!
The screws are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). Get a JIS number 2 screwdriver to help prevent stripping out the head of the screw. Otherwise you will be stripping them before you realize it.
File this under "just when I thought I knew everything about..." I never knew there was such a thing as JIS. I always thought those screws often seen on Japanese cars were just a slightly dif version. (in some ways I guess that's true) Never knew they had a name. I thought there was just numbers - 01-1-2-3 + etc. & that funky Frearson/ Reed and Prince. I usually just try dif drivers until I find one that fits the best. I probably have 50 dif Phillips "type" screwdrivers but usually 1 of my fave 5-6 fit the best. Maybe it's time to thin them out? Anyhow, Thanks for the education from a lifelong learner
Thanks Mr.Sweat!
You're welcome!
Why is the Rpm so high. It should read about 800 rpm
good info
Why yout IAC valve has 3 connectors (for hooses) nine only has 2
Camry 97
Could you just leave the electronic body on, disconnect the hose, and shoot the cleaner down thru? I'm thinking removing it will perhaps create more trouble due to those tiny screws. Much thanks for a clean video...
Probably worth a try, good luck!
I stripped the screw on the electronic part of my 2000 toyota camry. It was like they were clay. Any advice or ideas and how to deal with it?
Try using vice grips as tight as you can squeeze around the head
@@sweatequity4252 will do next time I try. I might also grab an extractor kit from the store today. Any clue what size the screw is and where I might get it to replace them? I appreciate the advice and help already The video looks amazing I can't wait to fully try it to see if it solves my issues on my car
@@nicholasvitone2141 it's probably an m6 x 1 bolt, sorry been awhile since I've had one apart
Question I’m having the same problems with idle air control but when you had this problem was it wasting more gas than usual
?
This would not cause it to burn more fuel.
I would suspect a bad air fuel ratio sensor or map sensor if it's burning more gas than usual, though you would more than likely have a check engine light with a code for that.
I've had the issue of eating more gas than usual. I am doing a full tune up and hopefully in the midst of that I find out and solve the issue. Let me know what you find out
My IAC valve doesn't have that third hose that you say to disconnect.
Is it supposed to move freely? It doesn’t have a spring load to it or anything? Mine moves totally freely no resistance after spraying into there and jiggling it.
I’m just trying to figure out if it’s a healthy mechanism or if I need to just relace because of lacking capability
Seems like you might need a replacement, definitely should have some spring tension
@@sweatequity4252 mine also seems to just move freely (rotates about 1/4 like you showed). So it should hold to one side with spring tension if it isn't touched? thanks
👍👍👍
