Same here. It's still my favourite Ashes series of all time. So many great players going at it toe-to-toe, with every game from the 2nd test onwards going down to the wire.
Always had a huge amount of respect for Michael Vaughan - terrific player and captain for England. Had an outstanding career, and is also a great cricket commentator.
I think he’s one of the finest captains England have ever had. The mindset he brought in, the way he led his men…Also a very fine batsman…will never forget his 2002 returns!
He says that he learned captaincy from Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. I was at the game in Antigua when Brian Lara scored 400 against Vaughn's England. As England came on the field on the first morning, I remember saying to my wife that the English team's body language looked like an Australian team - all swagger and aggression. I had never seen an English team behave like that before.
I really enjoyed this video Robbie! I've seen several of your videos fishing with Holly. Does Skye and Louretta enjoy fishing too? Have a good day mate. Cheers 👍
England 🏴 All Time Test XI : 1) Gooch(c) 2) Cook 3) Gower 4) Pietersen 5) Root 6) Stokes 7) Botham 8) Knott 9) Trueman 10) Underwood 11) Anderson
That really is some team isn’t it? All of them true greats (except for Gower who was a great talent but a little too wasteful so I’d swap him for Hammond).
As an Aussie, I Hated Michael Vaughan during the Ashes. But that wasn't hating the Man, but what he was capable of. I looked at him like a Pommy version of Mark Waugh, he just made batting look easy. He didn't average 50+, but you always knew, he can take the game away from you in Any position, that's what makes him a Great. And he has become a Great commentator, partly because he Truly knows the how the game's played, tactics etc, and partly because he's such a Likable person.
As an Aussie that was the best ashes i ever watched great series and it was what test cricket needed at the time

It's the reason cricket is still relevant in UK. Football takes the cake over there but yeah come Ashes year, the stadiums will be full

Great interview. He spoke well.
Thank you MV especially, but all the players too, for the best series I ever followed. TFP
Love Vaughany. And I'm an Aussie. Fantastic captain, seems like a fantastic guy

Young Michael Vaughan looked a bit like Christian Bale in 'American Psycho'!
😂😂😂 true that!
He's known as 'poor ole Vaughn' at our house after the number of times he was emasculated by G. McGrath
Emasculated by scoring nearly 600 runs in the 02/03 series and getting man of the series, and then winning the Ashes in 05 ?
