Good luck. Ex SAP ABAP and BW Consultant for 25+ years. I moved over to Azure 5 years ago and have really enjoyed it. Had a few lovely breakfasts and lunches at Clockhouse on training courses - definitely a perk.
Just stumbled across your channel, interesting video! As someone attempting to transition into the industry, would love to see a video explaining your thoughts on the industry and the job market at present and any advice for people looking to start their professional software development career. Thanks and good luck with your next chapter, exciting times!
That was emotional. The office seemed rather deserted. Almost as if you were the last man standing. A slight queasy feeling in my stomach so it must have been a wrench for you. A guy with your talents will always succeed whatever may come. Onwards and upwards.
I retired from my Software and Systems technology Job (after 38 years) during the final days of Covid, so it was largely empty office, with only a single colleague in. Your office did not look exactly bussing either LOL. I just went in to finalise and close down my online work accounts, dump my laptop, phone and pass to security. A bit lonely sad, (aka Audrey Hepburn ending in "A Nuns Story) But at least I did not have to do a final day speech and drinks.
Great Video James! I'm only at the beginning of my Software journey! But it's amazing to see that someone at your level decided to pursue something different and took that risk of leaving their job after 10 years! Good luck with this new journey!
I know a lot of people in tech being made redundant at the moment - there's no such thing as job security any more. Self employment can be tough, but very fulfilling. Good luck with your journey!
Good luck to you mate and best wishes for new future job from an old EE from Baghdad - IRAQ ... The question is , what are you going to do in the coming days ?!...
@james-willett could you please read my email message about my candle business idea... ( It's profitable business without no hassle..no need inventory.. no insurance...because production handle by Production partner. ) Just need online promotion to right target audience using online/offline methods.
This career is dead and we made it happen. Cloud tech, outsourcing like crazy and now AI. I was getting my teenage kids heavily into tech but now I think they need to pivot. Plumbers and electricians now make £100-150k per year gross.
It’s definitely going to change a lot ( well it has already ) Agree that trade skills not easily replaceable by tech will become more and more valuable
believe me goverment will find a way to put you all back to office, people need manamegemnt and they must dream about their 2 weeks holidays until thye die
@@james-willett😂😂 nah but i mean it what are you lot doing all day in those massive offices, just clickidy clacking on the fn keyboard, nothing personal

It's a great building. Glad to hear it's going well at Microsoft :)

Getting into the trades definitely isn't future proof, especially not if there's massive influx of people doing it, it'll drive down wages.
@@mortiz20101 true. But you could say the same for any profession I suppose.
