I used to do thrash metal riffs like this but I didn't know the not names and simple music theory... in the beginning we didn't have UA-cam we actually relied on our ears and real music creation. Thank you for explaining the music notes names!
I'm down for a 20% increase in challenging riffs. However the course is incredible as it is and thank you for adding a new module. You know you didn't have to do that, but that is what makes you so kick-ass and METAL 🤘🏻💪🏻🎸. Thanks Jason!!
Thanks for the feedback! I really want to make this the ultimate Metal rhythm course! So you can definitely expect the next module to be more challenging!
Though this next module is based on adding hammer ons and pull offs, there’s also a lot of galloping! But having a module dedicated to galloping isn’t a bad idea!!
@@jasonstallworth cool perhaps contrast how Iron Maiden gallop/reverse gallop varies from Metallica and Slayer gallop rhythms. Iron Maiden gallop hang out of low A string versus low E string and they mix in a lot of double stops.
The riffs are awesome as is, all original and melodic. My suggestion is to show us an over the shoulder look at the fingering on the slow play through.
I like the riffs the way they are. I am a beginner and the way you teach them I can understand. It would be nice to have a choose your own adventure type series where you start with a riff and you can choose different riffs to complete an entire song. I am oversimplifying the structure of a song because I'm a beginner but if you could break a song down into different parts that we can choose that's what I'm getting at. Like the old choose your own adventure books but for guitar.
Thank you for the feedback and that’s an awesome idea for a series! Oh, and I don’t know if you’ve gone through the bonus module on riff writing but let me know what you think about that!
Taking my time through the course. I'll be getting the songwriter course here in the near future. Love to see y'all do a audio engineer course. If it ain't broke. Don't fix it.
@@jasonstallworth cool would love to see how to mix/master drum and bass tracks with guitar and vocal tracks. I am using EZDrummer and EZBass for those areas since I don't have a drummer or bass player.
@@GuitarsAndSynths how do you find EZdrummer and EZbass? I nearly bought EZdrummer recently when they offered a bonus extra module but couldn't get the cash before the offer ended. Had thought I could do some of my own bass as I have one, but don't play it much.
Everyone’s learning speed is unique like their tone. It’s great you proved dedicated lesson package online so people that do want or need can have 1 on 1 learning from video and tabs if that’s there style. I personal watch videos upside down so that I’m “looking over your shoulder” per say . I learn at light speed now even playing most my life this way all these years watching from “across from view “🤦🏻 different perspective was a game changer . Personally I recommend flipping my view of screen it makes learning others riffs and solos so much easier . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎸
@@jasonstallworth thanks is all mine like I’ve said before I played for years never never gave a pick a chance your 30day series was a huge help on what to play . It’s all been falling in place since . It wasn’t till recently I saw another video out there had a over the shoulder view blew my mind bc I’ve never had anyone around that plays also just watch video but this new way of watching wow all I’m going to say . Keep being you Jason and keep it metal 🤘🏻🔥
Love original content and the idea that you want to give viewers tools to incorporate riffs in their own playing. It's great. Thanks for that! For me personally. Started playing late. Don't have the music theory knowledge, am planning on learning yet need something more rewarding to keep chugging. Like playing songs from my favorite artists and for non professional players, there's only so much time in which to squeeze in practicing everything. I know there are plenty of you tube videos showing how to play songs but it's just my opinion that it would be much more beneficial if an instructor could combine both. Like for example taking a Metallica riff and explaining the techniques incorporated in it. Doing that for entire songs would be fantastic.
That's definitely a good idea to learn songs. Unfortunately, I don't think I or anyone could have a course based on other people's music (there are restrictions to that sort of thing...you even have to be careful posting UA-cam videos that feature someone else's songs). THank you for the feedback!
@@jasonstallworth you're correct you tube does have strict rules and automatic algorithms running to tag copyright material. I think I heard some content creates on you tube mention that you can use other people's material as long as you purchase the license to do so.
@@jasonstallworth Kirk Hammett of Metallica published a really good thrash metal warmup tip book. I already know a bunch of songs but want to create my own stuff now.
@@jasonstallworth I think you can do it, but you have to jump through numerous hoops and no doubt pay a fair bit to licence the music. Justin Guitar did it recently under a subscription method and all the tabs get locked into the site so can't be downloaded. Even then, you can only add what you can get a licence for. I've already noticed some transfer of skills from metal riff master to a few songs 🤘🎸
The Riffs are perfect as they are. Longer backing tracks would be cool though. I feel more additional modules for added on challenges to the current riffs would be best. Really enjoying the course btw man, just purchased last week. Highly recommend to anybody at any skill level for artistic diversity. Rock N Roll, Keep it Metal!
Thank you Seth, you’re going to love the next module I add! And yes, I’ll add the extended backing to tracks to the video as well. Also, you may know this but you can download the extended backing tracks as mp3s on the intro page to each lesson module under ‘downloads’ (that’s where the tabs are as well)
Awesome so inspiring Jason! What DAW do you use? I am experimenting with miked cabs and Presonus Studio One 5 that came free with my new audio interface.
Do some Morbid Angel esc lessons next. Killer fucking riff bro, I've been listening to a lot of Power trip because the guitar tone is pure Marshall jcm800 and tube screamer and they play in standard tuning wich I thought was really cool. Listen to Soul sacrifice, it's such a killer ass track man.
@@jasonstallworth and love to see Cannibal Corpse, Carcass and Bolt Thrower riff for death metal course. Those are killer bands with amazing guitar work. Not a fan of growl screaming lyric tho
@@jasonstallworth if you're a thrasher from the 80's you will dig Power trip. Sadly the singer died 10 months ago now. But they are in my opinion one of the greatest new wave American thrash metal bands on the scene. Fuck that pizza thrash shit, this band is fresh and has heart and not stale or dull at all and pay homage to old school thrash by playing in standard and using a unmodified jcm800 and a overdrive pedal not crazy high gain shit that wasn't even out yet back in the 80s or low tunnings. I had no idea who they were, I went to go see Cannibal Corpse and holy fuck I was blown away by these kids man, they've all in there late 20s and Riley was 31. It sucks so bad that he died. They played a track from them on Fox news I was shocked, I dont watch fox at all lol or CNN but I heard about it and checked it out and was like omg wtf?? Lol hell yeah right on lol
