You and Sausage have come a very long ways. The GRAND PRIX Olivia and scored quite well. So proud of you and you can be very proud of yourself. Love y’all and that Sausage.
Hi I enjoy your videos especially the Hartpury videos as I was there today myself watching the indoor dressage. Just one question...what settings do you use to film on your camera please?
Great question so let me try and answer it. For this particular video I had the Z190 on full auto and in SDR mode. To be honest the Z190 struggles in low light as can be seen here. But if I was shooting this video today I would try and have the exposure on manual and the gain cranked up based on my field monitor and the iris fixed. I’d set the white balance set on a white card to make up for the poor lighting in the Hartpury Arena. I’d use SDR rather than HDR. If you look at the recent videos from the GPFS at the Festival of Dressage they are shot in HDR and I’m pleased with the result. I do a lot of work in post production to get the look I want. Is there a particular setting you are interested in that I can discuss in more detail? We didn’t make it to Hartpury today as our horse was a little off colour.
@@harveywetdog Many kind thanks for your helpful info! Sorry to hear about your poor horse. I have a Pentax K50 and I really struggled and played with the ISO, shutter speed and F ranges as well as the dial settings. I might learn much more from you now! 😉👍🏼🙏🏼
@@Agui007 in fairness everyone struggles under the Hartpury Arena lighting. I don’t have experience with DSLRs and I guess the lens you are using will play a part as well. So as I said I have the iris on manual at about f4 to let as much light in as possible, the shutter speed set at 50 (basically 2x the frame rate and then increase the gain to get a correctly exposed image. I run with the focus on auto but keep an eye on the image to make sure horse and rider stay in focus as f4 gives a relatively shallow depth of field. The Z190 has a 25x zoom and the NX80 has an 12x zoom and l use the full range videoing a 60m arena. With zooms like that I always try and use a tripod for dressage. I read one review of your camera which said it wasn’t ideal for sports videoing although it didn’t say why. My cameras are designed primarily for electronic news gathering (ENG) and are happiest in a static interview situation rather than tracking a horse around an arena. But two things I’ve come to realise are is a) most people watch my videos on their phones/tablets and b) the human eye is very clever and can make sense of video even when the individual frames look poor quality. It is important to experiment, but do it in a scientific way, for example only change one thing at once and keep notes/photos of your settings and the results.
