Thank you for sharing and being honest. I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years.I’m going to be quitting my job and starting a new journey as well. It’s good to listen to someone who is being honest about everything and not making everything seem like it perfect. I wish you the best.
You’re a natural! I’m a native-New Yorker so I’m not surprised that you adapted so quickly to China...and you can easily relate to what it means to be “up close and personal” when riding in a subway!!! And yes, I’d love to hear more about teaching English in China to adults.
@@RoleyChiu Welp! I finally got my TESOL certification & teach English online to adults…4-5 days a week. I likely won’t teach in a classroom but I’ll likely continue teaching online even if I travel to Asian.😀😀😀
Omg I’ve missed her! I remember stumbling across her video last year and thinking it was from her personal UA-cam channel. Hopefully she makes one someday, she seems so fun and honest.
Alysse, you are so honest and inspiring! Take care. It takes a lot of strength and patience to ride 2020 out abroad. I can't imagine what you have been through. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Black Lives Matter!
You are so beautiful Queen, I was in Guangzhou for thanksgiving 2019, it was very different for me also, I only got irritated once, I wish I could understand mandarin some young girls were laughing at me, I just dropped my ice cream in their tip jar and walked away. I can’t wait to return to go shopping. Thanks from your new subscriber.
Haha. Those kinds of bathrooms are really chinese but it’s convenient in the sense that you don’t need to clean the bathroom as often because when you shower it kind of cleans itself, if that makes sense 🤣 you just need to cover the toilet with the lid when you shower
Hi, I am applying to move to China in September and my biggest worry is getting my hair done. I just wanted to ask how Aleese is able to get her hair done in protective styles please?
Totally agree and I was treated the same way as a Black woman in China! I have been to HK, Guangzhou, Macau, Beijing, and Anhui. It was two trips ten years apart.
You are beautiful!!! China is so big, I myself live in Suzhou , but I'v never had the experience living in other cities..People are different!! we love you! If u come to Suzhou, it's my treat! And try other cities! inner monglia, xinjiang, Tibetan and YunNan Province, all better than big cities in China, trust me
I’m currently enrolled in school to get my bachelors in elementary education and then I plan on signing up to do tefl. I was looking at china at a possible work area. What’s some advice you could give me as I work towards my goals?
Hi Niki, excited to hear you'e looking into teaching abroad! We highly recommend researching a lot in the beginning so you can best prepare yourself for teaching in China or a country that inspires you. Next, when you are looking to get TEFL certified, look for a school that will help you with the job search process, as this can save you a lot of time and energy while you prepare to live abroad. Feel free to check out of 7 steps for preparing to teach abroad here: www.internationalteflacademy.com/blog/7-step-plan-for-teaching-english-abroad
Hm, seems like a nice place. Extremely hot.. I can probably handle that. Very humid... eh I'll get used it. "And the roaches are disgusting." Never mind.
I see you have a nose piercing, could you possibly tell us Chinese school policy on piercings and tattoos, or at least what you’ve dealt with? Awesome videos!
...then you said the racism was too much. I didn't encounter any in Shanghai. I had to explain to many Chinese people that black people come in all shades, speak any language, and are all over the globe. People mainly thought I Indian, Mexican, Brazilian, and Indonesian-other nationalities with a whole lot of black people plus their own African heritage. I had to school some of them on their own African ancestry. A friend did his DNA profile and learned something. Anyway, your video was delightful. Thank you for sharing.
Kids are baby goats. It is disrespectful to refer to the offspring of human beings as kids. Say children instead, it is the correct word. The majority of people are wrong to us the words kids instead of children.
She was so honest. Love it.

It's so true, lots of these expats describe life in Guangzhou with experiences that are so close to living in manhattan!

Authenticity is beautiful!!!
Love the Wine and Doritos. I am moving to Guangzhou from USA in April. Are you still there?
Hi Jeff, I'm moving in August. We should stay in touch
That’s awesome! I teach in Texas and our numbers keep going up. When a student goes home they spray it with a can of Lysol.
I enjoyed your video. Stay safe

Hello Aleese, how much are apartments in Guangzhou (rent)?
Love her!!!!
Do you have opportunities for a specialized subject there?
Is it IB?
Love your ending!
The company you work for did they find you housing or you had to find your own housing there?
Is this school in Zengcheng?
Great video. So real. Stay safe.

Is 42 too old to do tefl do you think?
Not at all. You can work until your 65 in China provided that you meet the qualifications.
definitely not, welcome!!
You look beautiful ❤
Is your school currently hiring English teachers? Could you hook a sista up?!
