- We're starting the 5th year of competition off with a bit of weight reduction! This car has brought us to the point of doing these finer levels of refinement as we're already near the edge of what we can do. But it looks like it's working! And the car is faster than it's ever been!

@LoserSnoozer it also leaked after 1 or 2 weeks of work installing it, so yeah there wad a major issue, that's where the episode ended and we haven't had any news since

Probably wouldn't even help the Civic much in termss of structural rigidity. The weight gains if any would probably be ruined by cutting the structure.

@@lsr0netheone9 Last time it ran was during the GRIDLIFE 2022 season at Lime Rock Park where it blew its turbo during its second session (it won Street Class in just one session lol). After that, it has been on jackstands for about a year as Ben wanted to focus on his other cars and give the Evo a break. When the flood hit the garage, his Evo was spared since it was on jackstands.

For anyone that hasn't used Silka or Silkaflex let me tell you it is the best sealant made by man. Fifteen years ago I used four tubes to seal a seam in my concrete driveway and it is still good as new today.

When did you guys lose the advanced auto sponsorship?
Advance pulled all of their sponsorships in all Motorsport. They have been having some finance issues in general and this is just a cost cutting measure
The two Bens announced this earlier this year as part of the Eclipse vs RX-8 road trip series. Advance Auto usually sponsors those as well but they had a lot less to work with this time around
Advance bought most of not all of the pepboys store locations. They've really expanded a lot here on the west coast and I think they're having trouble with competitors like Autozone and oreilly having a strong base here.

Rain-x or similar on the windshield, inside and out. won't fog up. swap the interior non vital bolts for Alu', not too expensive and saves another few pounds. can do similar for body panel fixings.
for the cost of carbon roof you could have better weight savings with something like titanium hub nut, wheel studs and lugs. probably even lighter hubs too. unsprung weight saving too
I think a good solution to the windshield foggging issue is to run a similar setup to rear windshield defrosters. There are companies that make front windshields with heating coils embedded in them
So glad its racing season again.

Something that's come up in the rally community this year, a few people have had the turn key kill switch lose contact even though it's in the correct position. People have started to switch to solid state electrical kill switches. Not sure you'll get as much vibration as we do, but I'd hate for you to DNF on a small part again

1.5s is a massively impressive improvement over 1 lap, but it’s hopeful to assume the competition won’t have made similar upgrades this year. The upcoming season will definitely be interesting.

You can use dish soap inside of the windshield as an antifogging, a thin layer applied by a micro fiber towel.

AND BEN if you are having problems getting tires up to temp before a session... Put the tires and RIMS in a black Big garage bag. Close it up and place it in the sun !!
A friend of mine does that to his Wheels and tires to get them up some of the way in themp!! He does hillclims and they didn't have any time getting heat in the TYRES 👍🎉

Do the rules allow undertrays and diffusers? With proper ones you'd reduce drag, increase downforce, might even reduce the size of the massive rear wing which adds a lot of drag.
He had to reduce the size of his splitter to meet rules. Partial undertray is permitted, just not sure if he has fully exploited it
CTR's ruling:
Rear undertray diffusers are not permitted, factory or otherwise.
Flat underbody floors/pans are prohibited.

If you want to lower the centre of gravity, use the weights on the under panel or anywhere under the car.
Make a weighted aero panel or something :)
Great video, you said that gridlife rules require no front glass? Have you considered cutting vents into the rear window or even the boot lid to relieve the air that can be caught in the interior of the car? Similar theory to when people cut the rear bumper..
Use RainX anti fog on the inside of your windshield. Works like a charm.
I just rewatched the "i'm swapping to 5-lugs" video and I can't beleive I never noticed that only the rears are still 4-lug to this day. Pretty neat!
