- Tasmin Archer performing an acoustic version of Sleeping Satellite at the International Astronautical Congress Opening ceremony at the SECC in Glasgow on 29th September 2008
I'm a white guy that grew up on 80's heavy metal but you'd have to be completely closed minded to not appreciate this talent and voice.
+Magnum74 Trust me I'm as punk and metal as they come but that is just a great song and a great stripped down performance.
+Magnum74 Likewise...came up on the Clash, Pistols, Priest, Maiden....great is great. Genre be damned
+Tasmar Vanderweghe You are right, I identify myself as punk rock actually...but decided lately it is not a music style but an attitude. also under stand there was probabley booze involved in that post:)
She has beautiful voice control and a great mic technique. What a song.
I was JUST about to comment the very same thing (mic control)..oddly, i looked at the post and I simply posted moments ago on another comment you posted with Kim Wilde cover. Are you my twinsie??? lol
even now gives me chills. simply one of the best songs ever
She is a real singer,no play back. Awsome performance 💃
I am from Chile, and never as a child did I have access to simple translations, but that did not stop me from expressing Tasmin's expressiveness, and now seeing this, it is really touching and makes my skin prickly ...
What a pity it is so underrated!
Wow, what a wonderful singer you are. Still love you, Tasmin. Was just listening to your CD today, and your talent and songs always touched my heart. God bless you, dear, and always.
Beautiful song and a beautiful woman
underrated
When i first heard her, i imagined she was white with long straight hair wearing leather jacket with acoustic guitar. Then one day i saw her on the internet, and i can't believe it was her, her voice is really different from other female artists, i still admire her, she rocks!
Одна из самых прекрасных композиций 90-х...
I wish this song never ends
One of the greatest pop songs of the 90´s.
I´ve played this song too many times here in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil, when i worked as a musical director at radio station Globo FM.
This song was HUGE when it first came out in '92. Very few artists can claim to have their debut single scorch right up the charts to #1 right out of the box -- Tasmin Archer did just that. In Canada I remember this song being all over the airwaves at the time, and even today it still gets airplay. This is a true classic -- thoughtful lyrics and Archer's incredible vocal range make this a song for the ages. Her voice is still awesome today -- just wish she had more monster hits like this one...
There is so much love and strength in this song and after all these years I can't help but feel this is one of the greatest songs ever created. What an amazing performer, THANK-YOU Tasmin for sharing your gifts with the world.
Couldn't agree more, one of the best songs ever written. So unique.
Absolutely exquisite. Totally impossible to pigeonhole. Beautifully unique.
Awesome song. Heard it while eating out for lunch, and it's been in my head all day. Memories of reading on the floor at camp in 1993, listening to this song. Love it now as I did then.
No one can top that. Tasmin is a truly talented and gifted artist. Thank you for such a perfect song! Still listen to it daily.
Always acoustically there's no room for mistakes either, nice performance
What a beautiful voice! I love this song! She sings like an angel! I looooove this! All the very best to you Tasmin. You're a huge contribution to music!
Beautiful song and voice!
She is AMAZING.
I agree, this song gives me chills. She has not aged much since '92 either...more than alive and well!
Seems like every good act has that one "standout" song that carries with them for a lifetime. Nothing wrong with that however, since most of us will NEVER had any LOL
I loved this album and every song on it and always will. Her new CD "ON" is good, but different than this material and is worth listening too :)
she is amazing...
Hi Tasmin,
After spending the day listening to two albums of yours that I hadn't heard yet, and reading some of your interviews; I have to say that you are my new favorite artist.
Sleeping Satellite has been a favorite of mine for years, but now I can see that many of your other songs are equally brilliant! It is pure poetry the way you and your arrange such thought provoking and meaningful lyrics with the music and vocal delivery to convey your emotion with such perfect sincerity!
Thank U!
what you put onto me is what is within yourself...you are the one who is pre-judging someone that you have never met...peace light and love
Timeless song... Amazing voice! The kind of voice you want to listen to over and over again. So many years later, and she signs this song just as well if not better!!! Thank you, Tasmin.
@bassman250159
Not only is she effectively controlling the mic but she's arching her back and keeping her head pointed predominantly upwards so the airflow can flow more freely rather than have to change direction. Also notice how at the beginning she places her hand flat over her diaphragm, she's mentally connecting with her diaphragm and her hand is the measuring device or censoring device for that process.
Great writing, incredible song...so unusual but memorable...listened to this song almost everyday in the 90s....pity there weren't more....
"Sleeping satellite" is and I guess always will be the most influential song of my life. While I do prefer the old video version more, it's nice to see that Tasmin Archer is still alive and well :-)
Omg, I have goose bumps, I watch the extended video all the time, this version is incredible 💖
her version of this will not be forgotten
she sings its with such emotion, it has
a feeling to it that fills the soul with...joy
thank you
tasmin
so many memories... :(
The most beautiful female voice I have ever heard. I agree with one of the comments below. I blame you for these goosebumps..lol
What an amazing voice!..... Welldone Tasmin Archer and tks....eat your hearts out new pop divas!
Amazing! I remembered when I was 12 or 13 years old and heard your song, it really moved me...I didn't understand the lyrics because I was born in Argentina and didn't understand english but I became to study and a few month later I could...Understand everything...Thanks for your talent, your voice...AMAZING Tasmin!!!
Unbelievable Tasmin!!! Your voice will ring in my ears forever!!
Great Expectations is one of the great albums in my lifetime, but it was too diversified a calling card for the pidgeonholers. Archer is an artist in the truest sense, and that rich, melodic wail never fails to move me. Personally I think she has genius.
I always loved this song and all of your singing. I love that you hit a note and conquer it, making it as beautiful as can be without running all over the place! When you hit each note, you conquer it!!!! Hold it and show it how beautiful it can be in it's own glory! Thank you for your talent and beauty of the vocal chords in it's most simplistic yet complex element possible! :-) Only true artists know how to make a single note beautiful no matter how long it's held out!. #RobertaFlack #DianaRoss #RonnieSpector #ImTasminArcherAndIShowThatNoteWhoIsBOSS
Beautiful song :)
One of my favorite pop songs of the '90s. This song occupies an important part of the soundtrack of my own life in that decade. Too bad I can't find any new songs to add to my soundtrack now.
This song has the same type of haunting beauty of Shakespear Sister's Stay. Still an amazing vocal by Tasmin Archer!
she is magnificent ...i can only compare voice to Anni Lennox......gold
Stephen Musquiz agreed!
Tasmin, I know it has already been said, but I would like to confirm yet again...
Thank you for sharing your this beautifull song with the world, ...and in the way you do.
Personally, one of all-time favourites, ...the dynamics of the melody, lyrics and your voice - all entwined, makes for an "easy emotional roller-coaster"... and "I blame you"!
just as beautiful and outstanding as it was when I first heard it.
chills
What a voice! If only this was back in the charts now
I had not heard this song in years and sudden;y heard it twice on the radio in just the past week and it's better than ever! I can't get it out of my head, but that's fine, I love this.
She gives 150% of her performance! Well done and very committed. Due to it got very silent about Tasmin Archer, it is interesting to see, that her face is still very beautiful. But I think, she got a littlebit stronger.
I love Tasmin's voice.Furthermore,"Sleeping satellite" is one of the best songs ever to me!France
This is 95 th very good songs

Absolutely amazing!! Heard this in my early teens and still one of the most beautiful dramatic songs I have in my fave list of all time!

so so beautiful......
just terrific,Tasmin. Awesome...!!
This is such a classic song - Brilliant!
It's nice to see that she's retained her beautiful voice. In my mind, she ranks with Patsy Cline or Karen Carpenter.
Scott Garnett Absolutely.
They recently put this into rotation on SiriusXM 90s on 9. I wasn't expecting this nostalgia trip today!!
She's from Bradford, England. So nostalgic this, my daughter was born the week it was UK no 1. Great track.
Now thats singing. None of that crap x-factor or britain's got no talent shite..
my dream song? don't know yet, but it's a cool duet between her and seal.
and i can wait. for that i can wait. for that i'll happily wait forever.
Love Tasmin, and I love her album. Great Expections was one of the best albums ever, and she should have been bigger star. Needs to be on Lilith Fair. Hope other singers are picking up her songs because she is an ace songwriter.
WONDERFUL Performance! This is one of my favorite songs of all time! You are so beautiful, and you can sing CIRCLES around anyone else!

Wow))) like this! I'm younger and younger now))) thanx a lot 💗
Good to see you singing this live. I love this song. Me and my flatmate always sing Sleeping Satellite. It may be safe to call it our song lol.
Absolutely love this song! From the first time I heard it I was captured by your beautiful voice and the energy from this song. I think you should re-release or promote it again today. Even though it has been done before I think it would grab many new listeners. Still to this day it sounds fresh and uplifting. Many people have not heard this song but I know if they had you would have an entirely new Decade of fans as if it was released for the first time ever.
Gorgeous soulful performance by a highly underrated singer/songwriter
GOD Bless the 90s!!
How could 19 knobheads not like this? It's mintamundo, always has been always will be.
beautiful
Beautiful.
Wow - I love her vocal performance.
I think she did very well!! Excellent actually! The track is 16yrz old by the time she sung this which means she is 16yrs older then the video. Not much singers can still belt out there own songs and still make it sound album quality.
Tasmin has a beautiful voice and very expressive.
this roxx
gotta have it every now & then
inspiring..what a great song, great voice, great performance for sure great person Tasmin.
I first heard this song back in 92 and it was so powerful then as it still is now. I was going through some of the most painful times in my life and this song helped get me through them. I'm so grateful that Tasmin Archer shared this song with the world. Thank-you for uploading this amazing performance :-D
