Jim Roy you are a true golfing professional with an amazing ability to simply the learning about the essential fundamentals of the golf swing. Great video. Myles
Great video. I have spent years trying to fix my upright backswing and just today I had a major breakthrough following a horrendous round yesterday. Then tonight I saw your video and am feeling very confident.... Finally.
Great video and instruction Jim. Have been tinkering with my swing, for too long ,resulting in mid 90 scores. My recent scores prior to you fixing my swing plane 92,92,88,86,91 then i watched your video , practiced for an afternoon and shot 83, 81. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I'm saving this video and taking it on my tablet with me to the golf driving range and I feel like this video could be the key difference in getting me from the range to the course. Thank you so so much PGZ, HUGE HELP!!! :) :) :)
Man! This is the absolute best video I've seen in a long long time. I'm been struggling with what to do with my hands after impact. It's been causing me all kinds of problems. At P4 the shaft matches up with P1. Thanks Jim Roy.
It's like im watching myself!!! I bring the club so far inside the club head is pointed almost over my head, I'm a 10 HC, I'm taking this to the range right now!
Excellent Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard about - Yanaylee Yanrooklyn Magic (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for unlocking an effective golf swing technique minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy after many years got excellent success with it.
what golf fanatic doesn't love tips from a former pro... and all those sticks in the ground for plane ain't for me either. Keep em coming from Mr. Jim Roy
Interesting question. I guess it would depend on what part of your arm? Typically, I'd focus on your left arm bisecting your right shoulder (in the middle) to create the right plane.
My signature move is to be stiff as a board on take away and back swing ,mess everything up on the down swing and in the moment of truth part of the swing chunk the shit out of it and proceed to getting my double and triple bogeys .
When I do this drill, shaft parallel from there I hinge the wrist and raise my arms the problem for me when I put it in to a swing it feels like 2 steps not one motion to the top. Any thoughts? Thx
picking up the club is my biggest fault; when i do that i tend to start trying to swing the thing. but, 75% with arms and 25% with the body may go a long way to explaining a lot of things. it should be 0% with the body and less than 50% with the arms on the way back. so what makes up the 50+%, well it isn't the hips. it is below the hips. and it is in the right side and not the left side. and it is not in the right side of the right side. it is in the left side of the right side. of course the positioning of the head plays its role, too. and then there is the grip. it's never ending.
here's several ideas for how to improve your golf Practise your golf swing in slow motion Position your feet correctly discover the correct body posture (I discovered these and the reasons they work from Gavs golf tactic website )
I just completed reading these golf swing strategies , Jοmtοnο Naha (Go ogle it) last week before heading out and putting the exercises to the test. I had been at it for Thirty years, but I was astonished that my swinging skills was still improved. Aside from that, the practice drills also helped fine-tune some small but crucial positions that I once thought did not mean much.

Good information. Would like to know where my left arm is on TOP of back swing in relation to my right foot?
Interesting question. I guess it would depend on what part of your arm? Typically, I'd focus on your left arm bisecting your right shoulder (in the middle) to create the right plane.
Easy enough to follow and nail down to the key points. Great video!
Very good video to learn the swing...
Thank you Jim! Great, simplified instruction.
Great tip!

So humble, so helpful!
Not to be cranky, but the DTL camera MUST be directly behind/in line with your hands and above the belt line. Good video.
Great drills......thanks
My right elbow folds too early in backswing.. any tips for that?
When I do this drill, shaft parallel from there I hinge the wrist and raise my arms the problem for me when I put it in to a swing it feels like 2 steps not one motion to the top. Any thoughts?
Thx
I certainly wouldnt be hitting a wood on my front foot more on the back foot, i guess that must be your signature though?
