When I heard the two scaredy cats Lizzie, and Oli, (not including jimmy) say “deep dark warden” I knew that this would be good XD

Well the first one, you literally stepped on. lol.
The second one, is a bit more tricky, but my understanding through watching all of these.... Is that the skulk allowed the noise to go through.
It COULD have also been that they were technically touching via their corners.
Yeah sculk blocks let the sound travel through them to sensors and shriekers. Blocking them diagonally with wool would have worked. Also the chat was correct that every time you un-sneak it makes a noise, if you turn subtitles on while playing you can see that "footsteps" appears whenever you un-sneak.
