  • I love using this approach when I want a semi solid tonal color to undergird a rainbow speckle. Especially when I'm wholesaling and can't afford multiple dye passes and multiple heat settings due to the low compensation amount.
    Dyes Used:
    pro chem hot pink
Dharma fluorescent safety orange, lemon, radioactive, bright aqua, spearmint breeze, purple pop
    Aljo Lily Rose
I use a full size insulated Avantco heater/proofer and 2.5" deep steam trays
This is exactly how I created my Lisa Frank gradient

I love the effects when I spray the yarn with CA water. Stunning colours 🧶👍🌈

This is wonderfully helpful. I just started dyeing my own spinning fiber this week, and turns out, I'm using the Dharma colors you mentioned. What helped me A LOT is how to sprinkle and set the sprinkle. And validating my experience that the yellow does not speckle :-) Thanks again for your generous sharing 🤎

On Instagram I have a whole hashtag for carding Batts at #frostyarnbatttutorial and fiber dyeing at #frostyarndyetutorial and in pretty sure I have several videos here on how to clean fleece and dye silk!

Very helpful, thank you. I use bain Marie’s so should be able to do it all in one?

Should work. If you hear your yarn sizzling, it's a no go.

@@NicoleFrostYarn it’s like a double boiler so the yarn doesn’t burn. I tried it out today. Worked well

Can I steam them in my home oven or would that contaminate the oven and make it unusable for food?

I can't really speak to the safety of using your food oven. I'm not a material safety scientist. There's a material safety data sheet on every dye manufacturers website. You can also get more info by calling the help line and talking to one of their chemists about whether or not dye off gasses in an oven and makes the food unsafe to eat.
