I've always been a Flames fan for as long as I can remember, but I can't be even mad at Kassian. You don't see this stuff anymore. Kassian gets significantly hit like 3 times by Tkachuk then just loses it and ragdolls him around. It's refreshing. I love the Flames, and I'm glad Kassian and Tkachuk are making the Battle of Alberta relevant again. Plus, Kassian's post-game conference was golden.

That's the thing. This type of behavior is what the league has been trying to counter, but now they've said it's open season for these types of hits. Something that even going back didn't happen much because players could police themselves. Ever since that ruling I'm seeing guys lining up more hits than before.Usually I'd be in favour of more hitting because the NHL was becoming pretty pathetic but this type of hit is predatory with intent to injure and is not the old-school hitting I want to see. I don't want to see anyone injured but I do want hits, scrums, fights and fun.

Why should he have to fight after a clean hit
It's not a matter of whether the hits are clean or not. If you target any one player (like he did with Kassian throughout the game), you have to be willing to pay a price. There's a code that players follow, and they settle it amongst themselves on the ice. Can you imagine what would happen if Tkachuck targeted and hit McDavid all game (even with clean, hard hits)? That would break another code. You'd better be willing to pay the price if you want to be respected by your peers.
@Wayne I'm glad you've acknowledged for Tkachuk that he understands the code. In the same way he fought Dumba and McNabb, I'm merely saying that he should be ready to answer the bell when these 2 teams meet again. Thanks for making my point so clearly.

@@nbrooklyny2969 I'm not even lying though, Travis Toomey brother of Justin Toomey who played for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL. And they both played AAA for the Leduc Oil Kings. After Travis was done with the WHL he was drafted by the Ducks but he didn't make the roster so he went to go play for the U of A Golden Bears and won some championships. They both went to the same high school Christ The King. Want more proof?
