This is awesome! Just wondering what size does the bottom of the ball head have to be, to fit on table top mic stands? Most ball heads I’ve found are 3/8 or 1/4, but mic stands are 5/8. Thoughts?
Yet another awesome product 🏆 I purchased your MicBack 3D Printing Kit and waiting for my friend to make them for me. I will send you a link to the video I create. I love your thinking outside the box. 👍🏻 I already own a SM7B cost me $650 (AUD) 👀
Just put mine together too. Shipping was super fast and it was packed well. The kit was fairly easy to assemble. Cutting that plastic tube it will inevitably crack (at least on the SM58) and hopefully cleanly. Mine wasn't a little crack like Caleb's, the whole bottom cracked, but I was able to just use the other half. The other thing was the screw 5/8" adapter just refused to go in straight. I'm not sure if it's the tolerance of the metal or plastic that's off, but after 10 minutes I finally got it to line up by force, and it went in about 2/3 of the way before stopping without fear of it breaking if I went further. So my brass washer isn't flush, but it's still solid. I did not end up putting tape around the bottom of my mic, I just rotated the inside sleeve to be on the "screw side". All in all it came out well, and LOOKS great on camera. And it sounds great, which is the most important. Recommendations for the kit: Include the 5/8" screw and maybe preinstall it. You always need it anyway, and it'll make sure it fits. Or, alternatively, countersink the threads a little more, so that it inserts into the hole a little before hitting the threads, which will greatly help align it since it'll already be in the 'channel'. Overall, great job, really happy with it. Thanks.
Thank you so much for the feedback Chris! In future versions we will loosen the tolerance on the treads. Perhaps out 5/8 adapters were tighter than most.
@@ProletariosDigitais this sent me down a two month rabbit hole. i contacted the person via email after trying so many different contact methods and it isnt available for the public. do not try to get their reasoning, there is none. i tried asking why would you keep V2 hidden if you didnt advertise that your paid version only had V2, if you wanted to keep V2 a pay only feature to encourage people to pay why not tell anyone? why have secret improvements? literally no company silently improves things and hides it, especially when theyre offering a free version. no response. so then i asked if you dont care to keep it exclusive and just forgot to publish it, why not give it out? the response was incomprehensible, i tried asking it in different ways but it was like they couldnt understand english itself. give up on trying lol
Hey Caleb! This is such a great product. I’m looking to purchase this in Canada and I saw that it’s not in stock. Any idea when it’ll be available? Also, do you ship to Canada?
Amazing video, thank you I have been looking for something like this for a long time! I'm building this but instead of masking tape or the plastic insert, I think that a thin caoutchouc rubber sheet works even better. Holds the microphone, you can easily cut it to size, and most importantly it does a really good job of absorbing vibration and handling noise especially if you are using a table stand. Maybe this helps for a future update 🙂
This project is driving me insane. I've made multiple bodies and SEVERAL grills. Nothing is screwing in together. I've gone into the slicer and tried to fix to and reprint but none of the threads are working. Even the threads on the mount piece do not work with the Cavmate piece you included in the description. The piece will screw on to a regular microphone stand but not the adapter you included. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix the threads to make them work. Everything screws in sideways and never grips anything. I've broken the grills trying to make it work
We may do that in the future if time permits. If we do, an email update will be sent to everyone who has subscribed via the form at the bottom of this page: camerafoundry.com
Hello year later, great video! I was wondering when is the version of the SM58 with switch is going to drop?
I’d still love to be able to buy the kit.
+1

Hi! im willing to make this project and i want to know what type of desk stand works with this kit? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Can i download this V2 version of the sm7b kit? and where do I find the 3d file of the adapter that you cut with your scissor?
This does look pretty fire
Where can I get the insert? It wasn't in the folder of files to print?
Where i download the full model of SM7B? Thanks
I think I might try this
Just put mine together... Excellent!
When are you getting the White ones back in?
Hi is there anywhere to by the kits still? They are all sold out on camera foundry site :( (i dont have a 3d printer , looking for the full kit)
Should be back in stock!
you only get this version if you pay for it to be shipped btw. you cant download it online as of now (or possibly ever)
I'd love to be able to drop my Samson Q2U in this, but the handle on it is a little longer and wider than the SM58
Great recommendation!
@@camerafoundry The Samson Q2U would not work with this right? I am really interested in doing this.
Yow do you still sell these
I want one
I dont own a 3d printer nor know anyone that owns one.
im getting the sm57 fr
Can you post the files for the original Y mount? I had some ideas as to no make it swivel so much.

Bought my kit today. Got the XM8500 for $14 on Amazon.
Can’t want to build this kit.
Nice! You'll love it!
Would pair well with a v7x as it doesn't have a good pop filter stock but sounds incredible when used correctly. Shame it's plastic
Can this be done with any microphone? I mean a cheaper one
Perhaps! If it fits you're good! Could also use sandpaper or a Dremel to make the opening wider.
@@camerafoundry ok it's fine thanks
Lipstick on a pig. I like it. Keep up the good work.
Interesting, id just buy a $150 fake one.
😂 just no man This is wrong lost time
