I believe Vietnam didn’t use a translator to show USA/Australia/Colombia (who joked about her language barrier) that she could attempt to speak English. That gesture spoke VOLUMES to me.
I agree. Vietnam "slapped and slammed" AUS and USA big time! Vietnam truly shined through!
YES. "If i could do it, you could do it too."
quadetronzz I agree Columbia USA Australia don’t deserve for top 20.. very arrogant people.. by then everybody hate them.
Jaison Samaniego they were such strong contenders to hold the crown too. Although I really do believe they weren’t trying to be malicious towards Vietnam.
All candidates knew the pros and cons of the game. Politically correct to hear that English is not a requisite to win the crown but frankly, in real life application if you're lost in translation then that would be too ironic. This early all bets should take time to strengthen all their weak spots without ifs and buts.
Philippines was the only one who answered the Final 3 question (final word) correctly. Venezuela and especially South Africa did not answer the second part of the question. SA had a copy and paste answer from Top to Top 3. Philippines was sincere and gave a strong answer even for Top 5. The marijuana question is difficult and she did well.
Agree for me also the Marijuana
I agree. It was succinct and to the point. I heard others saying she contradicted herself. That is not the case if you think about it. In terms of legalization, it becomes freely available for both medical and recreational use. Her point was that she approves of the medical purpose, but unlimited availability for recreation is not good. By saying everything is good in moderation, she is essentially saying that she does not support unlimited availability for recreation.
True, how come Venezuela did not gave the best answer, when the question was translated to her mother language and answered to her own language too.
Her answer was plenty anymore would be too risky. Would be hard for her to publicly comment on drug use as her country is having major problems with jailing and killings for drug use in their country now and it’s a super controversial topic with Dueterte in government.
Yap.this reviewer can't handle her wit..damn stupid..
philippines is the best that night. no question at all... she is the queen. agree?
Ofcource
Sorry, I disagree about Miss USA being worthy of getting a spot in the top 10 (or top 20 even). She doesn't have the stature (height, form, beauty) of many of the others. You would hope that intelligence would make up for what was lacking. But her exchange with Steve was cringeworthy at best, not really because of Steve, but because of how awkwardly she tried to extend the conversation. Additionally, her controversial video with Colombia and Australia also demonstrates that she does not exercise good judgment.
true
I kinda feel sorry that Miss Universe will have to share an apartment with her. Is that the case? While Catriona is talking about matters of substance, Miss USA will continue their conversation with what another girl is wearing or how others can't speak properly (in a gossipy, mean girl tone).
For me miss USA is zero
USA was not strong from the day they arrives in Thailand
I thought Miss USA this year behaved like a girl, not a lady. She doesn't come across as elegant or poised, in my opinion. Her demeanor, speech, diction, and facial expressions looked like someone in high school who was excited to go to a prom. But I hope she and the current Miss Universe would get along like Olivia Jordan and Pia Wurtzbach did.
*Puerto Rico was better in prelims than during the finals. During the finals, she still tried to beam confidence and smiled, but you could see in her eyes and overall facial expression that the competition got in her nerves; she lost the spark. She was nervous and shaky, and we at the venue saw it. Before the final 5 was called, Puerto Rico's face was almost all white, like she sprayed vinegar on her face. South Africa was my 2nd runner up, Venezuela my 1st runner up. And Philippines. God, was she wonderful! She was the girl to beat from day 1, and no one - absolutely no one - came close. She just has this air of majesty about her, and when she did her walk and those turns during the finals, she combined her majesty with a subtle sexiness, which was magic. One of the most complete Miss Universe winners of all time, in my opinion. Undoubtedly a well deserved win. Even Denise Quinones, Lupita Jones, and Gabriela Isler who were at the audience were clapping for her, and all had smiles whenever it was her time to walk and do her thing on stage. Natalie Glebova also said she's the most complete girl, that's why she won. Philippines has been sending really great girls, and hope they continue to do so. Catriona Gray, you were amazing! Have a beautiful reign as Miss Universe. Love from Canada* 😘
Agree on all your observations ! :)))
We also saw how Puerto Rico was so nervous. We were rooting for her along with Venezuela, Costa Rica, Vietnam, and Philippines. But yeah we agree she looked really nervous during the finals
Puerto Rico was flawless and she should have been in the top 2.
correct on all points. disappointed with Colombia, she was good in swimsuit during Prelims but that was it. i was even more disappointed in Puerto Rico. expected too much but PR didn't deliver and her nerves is too apparent that's why she's not on top 3.
I also agree that Venezuela should have been the 1st RU.
She looks exhausted in the finals!
Hi, Nia! I am afraid of being harsh in my comments, but I got very angry all the time with people that seems to really ignore all the controversy with Miss USA during Miss Universe, specially the situations with Miss Vietnam and Miss Cambodja. To be honest, I really don't understand the support you give to Miss USA 2018. I assume it is because she is your countrywoman. What you guys can't see, in my opinion, is that beauty is more than face and body. If we consider only this, she is not even better than any other contestant in the Top 20. For the records, I am not saying she is not beautiful considering the beauty patterns in media. For me, as a someone outside of American culture, she is so a character from a movie "Clueless". That controversial attitude with Miss Vietnam and Miss Cambodja were so childish, clearly from a spoiled girl that doesn't understand that there are more than USA in the world. I really believe she was there (in the top 20) because USA put a lot of money in this pageant, but the fact that she made the cut is so ignoring she wasn't able to be Miss Universe. It is almost awarding something that should be reprimanded. The girls that move to the next round (after prelims) should be able to be Miss Universe, all of them! That should be a criteria! And for me, after all these facts, she wasn't a deserving candidate to be there. It would be great if you guys close to MISS USA ORG could give some advices to them, maybe preparing the girls to compete with people that deserve respect. You should to say them that there is no hierarchy when we talk about different cultures. Oh, my God, I am so angry with it.

Did you know that Miss Curaçao 🇨🇼 Akisha Albert is Philippines 🇵🇭 ‘s lucky charm just like Olivia Jordan 🇺🇸?
When Olivia Jordan 🇺🇸 joined *Miss World 2013,* Megan Young of the Philippines 🇵🇭 won.
When she joined *Miss Universe 2015,* Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines 🇵🇭 won.
Same thing with Akisha Albert 🇨🇼. When she Joined *Miss Earth 2014,* Jamie Herrell of the Philippines 🇵🇭 won.
When she joined *Reina Hispanoamericana 2017,* Teresita Marquez of the Philippines 🇵🇭 won.
And then she joined *Miss Universe 2018,* Catriona Gray of the Philippines 🇵🇭 won.
Lucky charm indeed!
Awesome 😂
Teddy Aquino and if i may add Olivia Jordan was the same person who Kylie her final QandA in Binibini and Kylie won Miss International 2016
Omg so funny lol good one 👍🏼👍🏼😄
@@faosparkNeo cool! Oh yeah, I almost forgot about it.
You are sooooo funny!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Great observation!!!
The top 3 all spoke beautifully you are right, but there must only be one who did the best in q&a portion among the three.
I was astounded by Miss Philippines' answer who I "think" answered the question eloquently that purveys so much substance.
Let's accept the fact that she won because she has exhibited an exceptional determination and absolute dedication, plus her wits and authenticity.
I can still smell insecurity and disgust from those whose bet didn't win and she did, or perhaps can never accept the fact that she was the strongest candidate.
Philippines answered perfectly for the top five question and answer if you are coming from a country where war on drugs is an ongoing situation. Anything more would put her in a tight spot. She answered neutrally, but with her opinion said strongly.
I think so too
I agree.. In my opinion, Catriona's answer in Top 5 was concise, on point and not contradicting at all. Her first statement (main point) gave her stance for the legalization of marijuana which she said... "should be used in a medical use but not for recreational use"... and the second statement (supporting idea) was clarifying the fact that marijuana just like cigarette and alcohol are also categorized to be used in recreation but the later are foreseen acceptable to use with moderation and the former (marijuana) should be controlled by the government since it could have an adverse affect... just saying =)
Miss USA was arrogant. Didn’t deserve to be in top 20. Glad she didn’t go any further.
agreed
thank you
Neither Colombia.
Agreed
Let’s say their all Pretty and Beautiful but once they speak individually that’s the time you’ll see real deal ..and obviously Philippines StandsOut Among The Rest.
Well said...Miss Philippines Catriona Gray is the complete package, beauty and brain and I saw her many interviews(b4 miss universe) she is full of wisdom.
even steve harveys expression after Cat answer to the final question was like "ladies and gentlemen you just heard the new miss universe slay the question, we don't have to continue..." LOL
TRUE!
Well, Cat has to be very sensitive about the marijuana thing because it's a huge timely issue in the Philippines. It might be a so-so answer for you but as a contestant, you must have the safest yet the strongest answer since all countries with different beliefs are watching. That's respect and embracing diversity. That question was really the toughest one compared to the questions for the other contestants. How about you, what's your opinion about the legalization of marijuana?
well-said.
Could not agree more. I think Cat gave the best and smartest answer to that question.
If you are really aware of world events, like what is happening in the US, Middle East, South America and Europe, then would know that the toughest question was for South Africa
@@henrycastro764 all were tough in that sense. 😉 I believe SA got the highest score on that portion.
@@henrycastro764 Yes it was tough BUT it was an opportunity to state her strong stand- an opportunity for her to win the crown despite the gown disaster. Many years ago, the final question was "What do you think of Ms Universe getting pregnant?" Pregnancy during reign is a big No-No BUT a candidate, Ms Botswana gave her strong stand and won that year. Her answer "Personally, I think it should not in any way interrupt her duties. She should celebrate her femininity," (Applause) Thank you... And I believe that if she got pregnant, you are not supposed to end the title. But, as a woman she should celebrate her femininity. Thank you". She won over a very strong Philippines candidate, a favorite - Ms Miriam Quaimbao who faltered and gave the expected answer.
Miss Philippines in her gown....oh my....to me she was like jessica rabbit in the flesh! :)
And I forgot to say Miss Poland and Miss Hungry are not only beautiful but also very polite, well educated ladies with good manners and they would not have a problem with the representation of the organisation Miss Universe or any other organisation. They behaviour is a very good contrast to American, Australian, Mexican and specially Colombian represents who were very rude, greedy and nasty.
latinas can be feisty and that's their nature... do you have a problem with that??!! - Sofia Vergara
You should apply as one of the judging panel as you seem to know more than them.
The wings on the shoulders on swimsuit are called “ chofas”
It’s an architectural feature on every Thai roof structure. Using them on their shoulders just good exhibition of Thai culture thanks
Otte carlos well i think Nia is now aware of it. Hopefully.haha
cool man your opinion thanks 🙏
I knew it was something that carries the Thai tradition, thanks for the explanation. I personally like it and found it interesting being worn by the girls.
Ignorance is never an excuse.
Thank you.
what? Ms. Nia Sanchez, did I hear you right? Did you really say Ms Philippines’ answer was just “okay”, lol? Ms Philippines had the best answer! If you see all the video reactions on youtube, all of them knew it was going to be Ms. Philippines after the last Q&A because she had the best answer! Someone even said, Ms. Venezuela and Ms. South Africa will need Jesus after Catriona’s answer. Were we watching the same pageant? lol
She meant catriona answer during top5 was just ok, i thought the same too. But in top3 she had the best answer no doubt.
She wasn’t talking about her answer during the final Q&A. She was referring to her answer during the TOP 5 Q&A.
Oh geez Another troll . Its Nia's opinion for godsake not yours
Nia is right....her top 5 answer is just ok and contradicting.
In my opinion, Catriona's answer in Top 5 was concise, on point and not contradicting at all. Her first statement (main point) gave her stance for the legalization of marijuana which she said... "should be used in a medical use but not for recreational use"... and the second statement (supporting idea) was clarifying the fact that marijuana just like cigarette and alcohol are categorized to be used in recreation but the later are foreseen acceptable to use with moderation and the former (marijuana) should be controlled by the government since it could have an adverse affect... just saying =)
NIA, MISS USA didnt even know how to walk! come on! she shouldnt have been in the top 20 to begin with. there were more deserving girls around.
USA, Venezuela and Phillipines can send a troll and they still will place.
marguzmel yes, and i think you are the one sent here.
Kimberly James nice comeback kimberly haha
marguzmel Wrong, Venezuela didn’t place in 2016.
Kimberly James fair enough! She is biased. Leave it!
I am from the U.S., a citizen one, but let me tell you our Miss USA is a bully/gang banger from day one. Besides she's not a Ms. Universe material. Made mistake of choosing her to compete in this pageant. Normally Ms USA-Universe is talented with dignity and poise and beauty which is only a bonus. I wonder what happened this year's (2018) choice.
Also, Ms. Philippines Q&A was thought and intelligently delivered and the other two girls Q&A were just like a content of their "resume' "
Ms. USA is probably a TRUMP supporter so that makes total sense. ;)
yeah i kind of feel like she's bias ahaha
@Dragoslav De La Vega take this fat L trumpies😁✌️
After the Final 3 Q&A "I honestly didn't know who was going to win" - Nia
My reaction: 🙄
Even if you were ms South Africa's mom or ms Venezuela's sister you'd know that Philippines' final answer was the best among the three. She only mentioned how Philippines made an ok answer to her top 5 question but not her amazing final answer. Just so you know, regarding the question that was asked to her, there's not really much you can say about the legalization of marijuana. Medical benefits for cancer patients, No for recreational use... Those are the only two things that you can point out.
Ikr.
Not all contestants who answered the best, wins the crown. Maybe that's why Nia said she honestly didn't know who's gonna win.
The interpreters always fuck up the answers and change what the contestants are actually saying. I'm mad that no one addresses this issue.
I would do a better job as an interpreter
@@analyticalperson6648 they can protest if interpretation were wrong. I hope judges knows that.
🙄🙄🙄 same reaction here 😅🤣
What I love about Catriona's answer in the final question is she went back to her roots- the children and you could feel she's so passionate about it and speaks from the heart. She told a story that's inspiring! ❤
How can you say that after you heard their answers on final 3 questions you have no idea who's gonna win? I watched it live as well and it's very obvious to me that Philippines has the best answer and should win?? Or probably your not listening well to the q and a? How can you say that all of them gave a very good answers?? Venezuela and south africa did not even answer the question well because they did not mention how they will apply their experiences on their time as miss universe??only miss Philippines did..I'm not trying to bash you..I was just a little bit annoyed..peace.
There's a certain element of bias there or could be just plain ignorance of an incredible answer. Unless she made some reservation that the final Q&A wasn;t just the criteria in the final selection...but there wasn't, so........
Yes, I guess she did make a reservation.
The overall package is put into consideration. Not only that part of QandA.
@@oriah02 but as a viewer who is not privy to the judges's decision, we're only concerned on what is shown to us and the Q&A is our best gauge and so was she....well, I leave that to the viewers.
@@marest666 She's speaking in context as a previous Miss Universe contestant I bet. We all know little about the pageant off cam, except you experienced it just like Nia. That's my theory, anyway.
@@oriah02 Predictions from pageant bloggers like NS all based theirs off camera anyway and that applies to her even though she was a contestant herself. We all are off cam "judges" but it is really hard to fathom not to make a some sort of wisened conjecture on that last Q&A. Even the other Miss USA bloggers were quite confident CG will have the crown bar some other factors which only the judges are privy to it.
Nia I am not bashing anyone including you but I will give you my opinion as you are giving yours and you are also asking for mine:
1. Catriona Gray's answer in the top 3 Q&A re: what was the lesson in life that you would apply in your reign as Miss Universe? She was the only one that answered from the heart about the hardship of life in the Philippines affecting the children and that she made it her life's mission to help them as Miss Universe. That, and her beauty and performance with the swimsuit, that slow turn in the prelims and that Lava gown went viral catching the attention of TYRA BANKS!!!!!
2. Miss Venezuela had a beautiful attitude after Catriona was crowned, smiling and hugging the new Queen of the Universe, and was the first to greet her as Cat returned from her triumphant first walk.
3. Miss USA was not worthy to be in 20, she should have been replaced by Miss Peru who was more beautiful and statuesque and no record of being backhandedly mean to fellow contestants who does not speak English, just stating my opinion and not bashing, and did not have a high pitched voice and a very nasal laugh. Just adored Deshauna Barber whoeheartedly rooting for the Philippines unlike you who is very biased towards Miss Puerto Rico and Colombia. Well we won and they lost so better luck next time. Maybe if they someone as beautiful, kind hearted and talented as Catriona Gray, they might win.
4. Only 5 Asian countries are super fans of pageants: Philippines, India, Thailand, Japan, Korea,Vietnam, and Indonesia. The rest are lukewarm but I agree that Europe and Africa should be lumped together as they are the weakest countries.
6. Catriona is phonetically pronounced as Ca-tree-ona.
7. I am a physician of 40 years and with this wanna be physician from South Africa pouting in the background as Miss Venezuela was smiling and hugging Ca-tree-ona, she won't last in medicine for being a sore looser as she will be eaten alive by my profession, and by removing herself from the Miss Universe instagram account, and when bashed put herself back in it.
8. I don't believe you and MJ Lastimosa were good friends in Doral in MU 2014. Did you go to Palawan with her during MU 2016? I think you did but I may be wrong.
9. The Philippines is the number 1 beauty powerhouse in Asia because we have 16 major crowns of the major beauty pageants: 4 Miss Universe, 6 Miss International, 4 Miss Earth, 1 Miss World. 1 Miss Supranational. As you said we are one of the nicest people on earth, always smiling and fun loving, just don't get on our bad side by talking more about Latinas and just talking 15 seconds about Miss Philippines and 3/4th of your video about Latinas and Miss USA. I get it. That is who you are but please play fair.
10. Why don't you do a tribute to the Miss Universe by doing some reserch on her. She may make you a fan of hers yet.
I agree with you with some part and disagree with you with others. I do agree USA never ever should have been call top 20. She never had that it factor in the first place. This is my feeling for the Philippines. As you can see my youtube my top 3 and maybe 4 in my list was Philippines. The problem in looks that I had with Philippines was her weight. Even in the Philippines people were talking about her body. She had 1 year to be in shape and her body looks worst. This Lava Walk has been done in Venezuela for many years but was no longer popular. She just copy what Venezuela already did. Is nothing new just for the new generations. Also, her first question was bad. She did not answer the question well. Nia is not the only youtube who thinks that. If you see other youtubers they say the same thing. Her first question was bad and she was not in good shape she should have never made it that far. The only thing that saved her is she had 2 Filipinas judges, hosted in Asia, and no male judges. Even a gay male would not vote for Cat just for the body. Look at Carson the host. Lu also did not have Philippines in her list. She was a model and she was a teacher for these girls. Ashley had her in her list but she is a plus size model and Cat looks out of shape. Tyra also always had weight problems she even said it herself. She had problems getting hired because of her weight. So she liked Cat. So the people who liked Cat were over weight models. Thin people don’t like Cat. And if males were judging she would never make it past the swimwear.
@@MrModel--CAPTURED-ON-FILM sorry no one cares about what you have to say about Catriona, her placement in your "list", and your "problems" with her. Bye.
Gracious Love sorry but you don’t speak for the world. Bye
Nor do you Mr Model, bottom line you did not like Catriona that is your opinion which I differ from, I don't think she is fat at all. You do not speak for the world either so lets agree to disagree. We still have 4 Miss Universe and I know you hate all of them, as a matter of fact you hate all Filipinos. Well that's too bad because we are kind, fun loving and gracious people that by the way you are bashing you don't have any of the kindness, or graciousness that we Filipinos have. So bye yourself, you idiot!!!!
BTW Lu Sierra and the other gay commentator has NO POWER at all as to who Miss Universe will be. Who gives a f**king rat's ass what they think, They look hideous themselves and the mirror will break if they show themselves to it because mirrors don't like their looks nor do I, HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ABSOLUTELY loved Akisha from Curacao!! I wished she made it to top 5! Following her on social media, she seems like a very sweet, personable and down to earth girl... and then she hits the stage, and FIERCE!
Shes not destined to be a winner on all her International beauty pageants, Philippines is a bad luck to her or should I say she is the Lucky Charm for Philippines. She lose to a Filipina at Miss Earth, She lose to a Filipina at Miss World and This time to Miss U to a Filipina. Thats more than double whammy!!!
Thanks for your input
I would have lovvvedd to see her in top 5 as well. She is worthy of the Miss Universe title. I had about 5 girls, including her that I thought would have been great for the title
@@Realniasanchez girl, same!! lol. Hope you are enjoyed the holidays! I was hoping that I'd serendipitously run into you in Seattle haha 😂
@@SaintNemesis how about reina hispano americana?
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned and how will you apply it to your time as Miss Universe?
VENEZUELA: I grew up in a family filled with women and each one of them taught me something very important. But what I always remember is by working hard and chasing dreams and by having courage and strength and willingness to achieve these dreams, we can achieve anything we want in this lifetime.
SOUTH AFRICA: Throughout my life, I’ve been exposed to both those who are privileged and underprivileged and what I learned is we are all human. We all want to be loved, we all want to belong, and we all want to be seen so we should treat each other that way.
PHILIPPINES:I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the life there is poor and very sad. And I’ve always taught to myself to look for the beauty of it and look in the beauty of the faces of the children and to be grateful. And I will bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. And this I think if I can teach people to be grateful, we can have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster and children will have smile on their faces.
Miss Nia i think Philippines got the best answer dont say all of them have good answers. the answers of Venezuela and SA iis far from the question. it says that how will you apply what have you learned.
Venezuela answer where the application there? South Africa wheres the application there?.
Philippines said I will bring this aspect as a Miss U to see situations with a silver lining and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. And this I think if I can teach people to be grateful, we can have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster and children will have smile on their faces.
this gorgeous lady is a latina herself and represented USA . and y all complaining miss philippines should be representing australia cuz she is not pure??? lol seriously yall trapped on precolonial period
Nia was born in the USA
Catriona was born in Australia
Should we even talk about bloodlines at all when the entire world is now intermixing races with one another? This is just a spiteful pretext of losers. We are judging Universal beauty with wit. "UNIVERSAL" that word alone connotes beyond petty stereotyping. If you don't agree then we should change Miss Universe to Miss Pure Blood.
@@jeanniel8354 In our country if your mother or father is a Filipino, then you are a Filipino by birth. In other country whether you have a Filipino blood or Indonesian blood if you are born in USA, Australia and Canada then you can have their citizenship.
Jeannie L ignorant fool can’t cure stupid
Jeannie L bitch, you were born right under the sewer.
Hi nia, nepal is improving in the context of Beauty peagent and i think you should praise us for placing on the very 2nd year in MU ☺
Dragoslav Vega, The Brazilian guy you have no rights to say ugly to Nepalese women. Not only Nepalese but all of the women in the world. That is very rude and disrespectful. Instead of supporting and encouraging them, you are saying that Nepalese women or girls are ugly?
@@paakusadventure1317 you are right
Nepal was sooooo beautiful in that year
@Русская STRONG WOMEN Is The FUTURE i think discouraging a women from one country refers to the whole world. Spread love.
Ahh! I was actually thinking about that the other day-the notion of combining Europe and Africa together, rather than grouping grouping Africa and Asia.I also think the Americas should be addressed too! hmm, how about not doing regions and placing based on merit haha
Exactly!! That would be the best! Just let the placing be decided on their merit
Seconded.
@@Realniasanchez I think the reason for the regions is for all of the parts of the world to have a better representation. All of the girls are queens from their own countries and all of them can be Miss Universe. If there are too many deserving girls in 1 region then there's 5 wildcard slots for that. In this year, Venezuela came from the wildcard and she finished 2nd runner up. Last year Jamaica also came from wildcard and also finished as 2nd runner up.
Yes! Meritocracy.
That would be really bad, just like in World Cup they bring team from Asia that are less good then some in Europe who did not qualify. They do that because they don't want these countries contestants to give up on their dream. Some countries in sport, same in pageant, don't have huge program to back contestant. In West Europe they can get valued elsewhere then Pageant. Poor countries care a lot about Pageant, it's accessible, give them exposure, and they feel great getting represent like that. West Europe don't need that, they get recognize in other fields. Again, it's no disrespect to poorer countries, but need to understand that if it go to the merit only, u won't see much of Asia in Soccer world cup and West Europe in Pageant, and these woman who dream of going there one day will just quit because there no hope for them. This is part of *political correctness*, which is what Pageant Q/A are about (giving neutral answer and such), they want to please everyone.
Nepal's up close video was outstanding. Her runway isnt the best and that is what rule her out of the top 10 nonetheless she is on of the best contenders with the greatest speaking skills. No wonder she made it to the first cut. She MUST have scored pretty high in the preliminary interview.
Hey Nia, Nice review. I have a few comments
1. I don't share the same thoughts on Steve with you. I'm no way did I notice he putting the girls down. It's comedy and it worked well. The stuff with Miss USA happened with Iris in 2016 and she still won plus the talks with Steve was not scored. Maybe you just don't like him.
2. During the final 5 Q and A. I believe PHILLIPINES has one of the best answers asides Venezuela and after the top 3 Q and A, it was very obvious to me who should win.
3. Those girls were amazing and after every cut it felt like we lost a potential miss universe.
4. Curacao was spot on. Surprised she didn't make top 5.
MyMainEntertainment I agree with u, PH top 5 was good safe answer and one need to analyze btn the line “Even a good thing can become destructive if taken to excess.”
Salim Dimack I agree with you on the first point. I was wondering if Steve would have acted in favour of the girl’s requests, doesn’t that make him look too much of a creep? Also he is a married man. It’s hard for a male host to be cordial especially in the Me Too Era so I thought that Steve did fine, not excellent but fine.
If we really were to look into good hosts I think the OG Bob Baker was the best for me, although he may come off as demeaning to some of the girls (especially those that don’t speak English) at least he tried to make them feel comfortable on stage.
i love Mr.Harvey .. We never get bored watching him.. Great sense of humor, fun to watch.. Boring people don't like him
MyMainEntertainment Fact!
This reminds me of Lu and Carson during the pageant, clearly in denial of how dominant Catriona was and how obvious it was that she was the clear winner after evening gown and final question.
I was waiting for your explanation as to why you thought the Philippines won, but I didn't quite hear it in the 20-minute video. Especially since it was in the video's headline. I was hoping you would at least comment on their final answers and that being the main reason Catriona brought home the crown. Aside from your displeasure of Steve, I also wanted to hear your thoughts on the apparent snub by commentators Lu and Carson, who both gushed about South Africa, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, but never complimented Philippines (other than Carson's lame comment that she's still in the running, when her strong performance made her look like a frontrunner to everyone else). But I enjoy watching your videos and your candidness and passion in expressing your thoughts! Thanks.
So true
Because obvious why she won one of the reasons was that you're here complaining de didnt heard enough about her de wont waste time on such an obvious.
@@lunziaacero3556 don't be an idiot. I don't come here to assume something is obvious and need not be discussed. I come here to hear HER opinion especially since the headline says "why Philippines won."
Her video talked a lot about her personal review about the pageant overall. but little comment on Catriona's performance. it's best to change the title of her video to make it more specific to the real gist of her blog.
same here, she didn't quite explain well why miss Philippines won.
I dont see any sincerity on this lady that she like Philippines. The only reason she comment nice about Philippines is to draw attention from the Filipinos . So she could get more subscribers. She knew that Filipinos are a great supporters of Miss Universe. I like olivia jordan instead.
Oh I so love Olivia 😍
i agree. she said that after the top 3 q&a, she didn't know who's going to win. why? its so clear that only catriona answered it right and perfectly.
Come on! She doesn't have to really route for Catriona the way we, Filipinos do. It's her opinion, she wasn't disrespectful, she even praised Cat, and she congratulated her. Let's just be happy.
Gerun i did not say for her to ro0t Philippines. I am just saying how i feel about it.
At one point I had the same feeling as yours. That's why I'm being careful and so picky in watching reaction videos with a Thumbnail of something to do with Philippines. I just hate the feeling that I was being used to get a high views, where in fact I never felt sincerity to their reactions at all. I like Sierra from Canada better than any former beauty queens who reacted to Catriona's victory.
I thought it's unfair for other girls to compete with Catriona gray... How come a queen compete with princesses ... Hahahaha
Catriona always a queen ... I watched the pageant to see who will be the 1st runner up... Because I n everyone knows Cat gonna win it...
Catriona slayed everything ... Congratulations Philippines ... Huge love from India 😍
Thank youu
abhi jones thank you from the Philippines!!!!!
I'm sorry but the moment you showed bias towards miss usa, I stopped listening. And you bashed steve alot especially regarding miss usa. I'm sure I'm not the only person who cringed at her OVERSHARING rather than at steve.
She lacks the class of a Miss Universe and that's just me being kind describing her
i agree to this
17:41 what? After top 3 final question and answer, you couldn’t tell who would win? it was so obvious Philippines gave the best answer. The question has two parts: a life lesson and how to apply the lesson as a miss universe. Philippines was the only one who actually and completely answered the question. South Africa kinda rehashed her answer from her top 5 answer (“we are all human”) and answered only the first part; ended her answer too soon. Venezuela kinda answered the question but her answer sounded generic (reach for your dreams). Philippines actually gave a visual concrete life lesson and explained how the lesson applies to her: finding beauty in a poverty-stricken place where she does her charity work and applying that mindset of hope and gratitude as a miss universe to help others.
So i am scratching my head why you couldn’t tell who would win based on the final 3 answer. Philippines did well in prelims, swim suit, gown (that fiery gorgeous gown). And with that amazing final 3 answer, she was obviously the winner.
all i knw is.. Ms Philippines frm Day 1.. she already claimed it. her aura is really wonderful compare to others.. 😉
I think the only reason they put Africa and Asia Pacific together was to even out the number of girls, so that the chances of a contestant making it is almost equal. Both Africa/Asia Pacific and Europe had 31 girls in each category.
I just found some inconsistencies with your statements, Nia. On this video you're saying you had no idea who was going to win after the Top 3 Q and A but on the other video you said you had no doubt it was Cat after the Top 3 Q and A. Just makes me a little skeptical about your sincerity.
I really wish they did away with the Continent categories because a lot of strong countries always get left out or at least change the continent categories
Agree
Golden Pink I want the wild card parts eliminated only because a lot of spots in the wildcard were countries with sash factor. The only exception of this was this year when in the Asia/ Africa category, all but one were countries that had contestants with a ton of sash factor.
Are you joke??? Yes dear, POLAND and HUNGRY are ready to be Miss Universe. In both countries live millions of beautiful, intelligent and smart women. Miss Poland or Hungary are more beautiful than for example miss USA. And I would like to remand you Miss Canada, Marta Stepien is also Polish. Polish economy is 25th in the word so is higher than Thai for example.
Yes, Miss Poland was awesome, so natural and naturally shy unlike those fake, arrogant Latinas. Miss Canada had the best body.
Yes!! Let's have some Eastern Europians not just "influential" and "beauty peagents" countries😍❤️🧡
Hanna Jablonska Nia was so biased just because she probably got paid for coaching Iceland. Sour grapes???
I love CATRIONA GRAY.A well deserved winner. I love Miss VIETNAM too and CANADA.
To be honest, youre the first one who said what catriona said was "ok". thank you for the honest reaction anyways.
FINALLY! I waited for like 2 weeks for this review!
I am glad Colombia didnt made it. USA and Australia shouldn't have been placed at top 20.

Ms. Philippines answer's in top 5 was based on her opinion, it doesn't need to be politically correct. All she did was to state her opinion with conviction and confidence. Top 3 was not only based on that Q&A, it's also based on the over-all performance (weighted) and "IT" factor.
Also, anybody else notice that during the Final 2, while Steve was giving the first runner up spiel, Miss South Africa actually said, "It's you. It's you." She knew Cat won. I think Cat knew she won when Miss Venezuela was announced as 2nd Runner Up.
Gonna watch the Video again to notice that
Of course they're gonna say it's the other, or they won't say anything at all..
Yeah cat already felt that she's the winner from the time Venezuela was announced as 2nd ru.

Jamaica is actually 19 and she's really an intellectual being, a big heart, MATURE and very stunning. She just had a moment as you mentioned. But she deserved that spot. Reach out to her...it will all make sense. Overall good review.
Thank you
@@Realniasanchez you're welcome
In addition, Emily is a natural, unrehearsed chica, which is what got her a placement in the Top 20. I think she would have done an excellent job for the 15 sec speech had it been straight from the heart in the moment, versus a rehearsed speech that she had to remember.
@@Makino06 let's not forget she's a natural beauty. She hasn't had any work done....granted I'm not against having a little fix here and there, but we have to call a thing a thing....honestly, I think she was so excited and overwhelmed in the moment. 2018 was an extremely competitive yr. Additionally, there was content in what she delivered, and she finished and maintained her composure. Ultimately the best woman won and that's all that matters.
Your video was so balanced, well thought and perfect! Don’t worry if it’s a long video, actually Pageant fans love long videos!
At last...I was waiting for your reaction video ..Took a while but it was worth it .. Your opinions were all on point..You are one of those youtube reactors who I considered "legit" since you have experienced being on Ms.Universe. PHILIPPINES really deserved to win.... Thank you... I'm looking forward to your future reaction videos. 👏👏👏
I love watching Lauren Howe also she is very animated when she talks
Nepal was better than USA, AUSTRALIA and INDONESIA..... That's why she made it. She was an amazing role model. She was so well spoken and most importantly she was respectful to every fellow contestants unlike USA. 🤬
You are acting just like Miss USA. You are not any less arrogant.
Wow! I've been waiting so long for this!😂😍
Thank you for waiting. Sending love to you
Yes! Miss USA just received her KARMA!!! So fake! Bitch!
I love you girl!! Love your channel!
Never had a dull moment listening to your reviews, opinion and feedbacks.. and oh! I love your dad's hypothesis..
When she says " and cat has big shoes to fill." a moment of silence.
Catriona’s answer might’ve been an “okay” answer from the top 5 questions for other people but it’s actually really good. Marijuana is not legalized in the Philippines and the country’s government is very against it. They are not liberal as other countries. She did good for her answer because at the end of the day she’s going home to her country that she has to respect.
I’ve been waiting for this. Nice review Nia! The wing things are actually a nod to Queen Sirikit, she is known for having two birds in her shoulders and I think they incorporated that. I actually like it 😜 Happy New Year!
Ahh I wish I knew that about the wings. If I knew that I wouldn't have had such a problem with it. I love cultural nods
Oh, See. Got it.
Cyril Cybernated true
Came across your UA-cam channel and had to subscribe! Also you made us nevadans proud when you won Miss USA & definitely rooting for you to win MU❤️👏🏻💃🏻
Oml. I've been waiting for your review since last year! 😣 Thank God it's finally here!
hehe. Thank you for waiting. I hope you like it
Awesome review Nia. Im a fan of yours. pls continue doing reviews. you are so fun.
I think Miss Nepal can speak very well. She’s gorgeous too and that face which is cut like the beauty queens of the past (e.g. Sushmita or Ashwarya) however she wasn’t that prepared as the other girls. I saw one of her interviews, she said went home to Nepal and tried her luck and won - she doesn’t have any pageant experience yet she won MU Nepal. However, I think during the MU final competition, she was psych out by the other girls. I really think she could be Cat’s strong contender if she had that “preparedness” in her.
agree. she was 1 of my favorites this year; her gown was fine for me, she only got awkward during her opening statement...
Cool video! Totally agree with your Steve Harvey Comments (DFCK?) ! Keep the good work! :)
Really obsessed with Miss Universe 2018😉😉💕💕😘🍓🔆⭐⭐⭐
Me toooo
I am more obsessed 😂
hi there! 😆 if ur telling that PhiLippines gave an Okay answer in top 5. what should be the best answer for u?? and also.. u dont know who will win after the final question with an outstanding answer of Philippines?? Like seriously???🥲🤣😜🤪😝
Two comments: a) I liked the wings during the swimsuit round. I believe there were an homage to traditional Thai sculpture. b) I'm in agreement that lumping Asia and Africa together seems illogical. My suggestion. Keep 20 semi-finalists. Have 10 wildcards. Then 2 each from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America & Caribbean, Central & South America. I think this better balances the fact that traditionally the strongest delegates come from Asia and Latin America. Having 5 come from Europe is simply too many given the current caliber of European delegates.
did not realise that i was able to finish this video without skipping.. lol.. i was like nodding and agreeing with you all the time! haha such a very sensible and rational woman! a talk show or more vlogs from you please! 5 star content!!
NIA!!!! Ive waited for this review for so long😆
Aww thank you for waiting. I hope you like it
Hi, Nia. Have you seen Cat when she competed at the Miss world 2016? When Puerto Rico won the title and Cat made it only the top 5?
The wing things are a statement piece that the queen of Thailand herself popularized, you can search it of you want ☺, probably a way to still showcase Thai culture even in the swimsuit competition.
Yes!! Thanks for this comment. It was Princess/Queen Sirikit of Thailand if I'm not mistaken. She popularized the "bird clips" on the shoulders as her signature accessory. :)
No no. Those are not little wings. They have nothing associated to our Princess either. Those things on the shoulders symbolise the roof of Thai temples. Try to google for pictures.
@@haruehun I stand corrected. Thanks for this info!
The little video I made in which I doubted the recent pageant results has received a lot of attention. I've added new 'copy' to my Description area, which you, personally, may appreciate reading. - Mr Model: ua-cam.com/video/TD3Lt9dikFI/v-deo.html
OMG!!! I’ve been waiting weeks for this! 😂❤️ Happy New Year to you and your family Nia!! 👑🎉
Happy New Year!
You always give the best, fair, and honest review. Love u always, Nia!
I can't believe you said that about Miss Jamaica. Most people had no idea how you made it to the top 5 in 2014.
It’s 2021 and I’m still watching this. Love you Nia!
Hi Nia! I’m 16 years old and I’m starting my pageant journey:) I’ve watched your videos for about a year to help me prepare. I think you just have THE MOST genuine personality; following your UA-cam and listening to your advice have helped me so so much!
PS-I’d love to talk to you one on one❤️
Watch Boy Abunda's Bottom line interview with Catriona Gray that would help you in Q&A. The video's all around here in UA-cam.
Joseph FronZa Thank you!!
Finally!!! I have been waiting for this!
I think Philippines did very well in the top5 question. It was short, concise, and on point. I think it was only South Africa who answered better than her in the top5. The others did not gave strong answers as well.
I'm rooting for Cat but after hearing her answer I was feeling nervous about her chances because it's too concised as if she's rushing to finish Q&A. It was not the worst and not the best, just safe for me because let's be honest, it was a difficult question. I think South Africa and Puerto Rico gave the best answers in the top 5 Q&A and I think NIA was right. In this video she mentioned that the probability Cat made it to top 3 is that her scores after the swimsuit and evening gown were too high for other candidates to keep up with her.
エストラダルジー probably. The question given to her was a hard one. But i think the reason why she entered the top3 was because others did not gave better answers.
@@imje6777 Catriona's opinion was moderate, but she delivered it with confidence, and she seemed genuine. I thought she did well on the question, which was the most controversial topic in the Top 5 Q and A. Miss Australia in Miss Universe 2015 was asked a similar question, if I remember correctly.
eigen yes her answer was on point. But she could have skipped the alcohol and cigarette part coz it made some confusions that it was good when taken moderately.
@@imje6777 There is research that some types of alcohol like red wine can benefit cardiovascular health when taken in moderation, although alcohol is probably not a good idea for those with personal history or family history of substance abuse. Strangely, there is also research that found lower rates of Parkinson's Disease among cigarette smokers, although smoking is a health risk for many other diseases. It seems that Catriona was thinking similar to how a debater would reason-- she would anticipate the opposing viewpoint and then strengthen her argument by presenting why it's a better alternative to the argument of the opponent; if successful, she would, in some measure, be able to weaken the opponent's argument.
Excellent job in your commentary, keep up the good work!!!
1. Agree on the changing of regional assignments. Or better remove it and have the top 15/20 based on merits and performance.
2. I had guessed 1 out of 5 for European region (Great Britain). Lots of surprises from this region. Agree that Kenya and Iceland should have been selected.
3. Nepal had a strong preliminary performance. I know she would make it after watching her short clip on UA-cam, she is a good speaker. Also, she generated the most money during the charity auction event, that was the first time I heard her talk. Beautiful face too.
4. I like the swimsuit, it was designed by the Thai Princess, probably the reason as to why the “little wings” were there to incorporate a Thai touch to the outfit. I maybe wrong but it looks more like Thai architecture inspired than wings. It looks like the the edges of the Golden Thai Buddhist temples.
5. Philippines’ question during top 5 is a hard one. Marijuana is a very sensitive topic to talk about and a better way of answering something that is controversial is to talk less. She chose not to provide a lengthy answer, which I know she is capable of doing, to limit remarks that might be viewed negatively by others.
5. My top 3 are Philippines, Venezuela and Puerto Rico. PR was flawless and so charming the entire time.
6. All 3 were gorgeous but the best answer was given by Philippines. It answered both questions raised - the lesson learned and how to use it on her reign as MissU. It was a complete answer.
Others: l am okay with Steve’s overall performance (7/10). I enjoyed Neyo and the inclusion and touch of the Thai culture.
ecks081 best comment i’ve read so far.☺️👍🏽
I have a question Nia. What is the year salary that a Miss USA or Miss Universe get a year? I heard it was minimum-wage. Can you talk about it in your next post.
I'm waiting for this, where are the two girls you are with on your prediction video?
Out of course they were obviously playing favoritism of their own country which should not be 😀
Oli Bear Glad u called it
One was out of the state. and the other was working. I had to do this one on my own
@@Realniasanchez You made an accurate prediction on who's gonna win.
I know this video is old/before Miss USA 2019 but do you think your dad's placement theory holds up after Miss USA (with Cheslie standing in the 5th place spot and Nevada&Arkansas who didn't make Top 3 in first & second respectively? I definitely agree that NM, OK, and NC had the strongest top five answers and deserved to make the top 3, but I can't quite get behind the theory what with North Carolina standing in the fifth place spot?
I didn't like Puerto Rico gown. It's been worn many times and you could see her underware thru the gown. I wanted Puerto Rico to wear yellow or purple. Just my opinion.
Hi Nia, What are the top four pageants for you? Obviously Miss Universe is the biggest pageant.
No one cares how Steve Harvey says "Costa Rica", didn't even notice.
purplefox Costa Ricans care dumbass! 🙄
@@wilfredoanunezpacheco5367 chill, take this fat L with respect😁✌️
I just watched your newer video and in that video you mention that we should watch this video. So here I am! I LOVE this video. I agree with almost everything said. Puerto Rico was my girl and she was just perfect. I am glad that you were able to see what I saw. I’ve been watching this pageant since 1993!! EVERY YEAR! My heart broke when I saw Puerto Rico didn’t make it specially because she was just perfect. I was so disappointed with your newest video, but this one gets thumbs up 👍🏻 from me. You are so right in almost everything. My opinion about the division between regions: They need to STOP 🛑 IT! is getting old and the fact that they are doing it just to give chance to other countries that doesn’t even go far in the competition is pointless and take away a chance for a strong candidate to be able to compete!
Aside from the existing controversy w/ Miss USA and Australia, I read from an article that Colombia wasn’t supportive of trans women participating in Miss Universe. Panel probably got word of that and nipped it at the bud. Don’t think they’d want that representing the Miss Universe title anyways
I think that was one of the reasons why she didn't make the Top 20. But more importantly, she didn't perform that well in the Prelims. She lacked the energy and spark that she had when she competed in Miss Colombia. So her subpar prelims, her comment about Miss Spain, as well as some other shady moments caught on camera kept her out of the Top 20.
Ahh I didn't know that. Makes total sense
I agree with you miss britney. She was not stunning in the prelims, specially in swimsuit competition. Her shoulders were so stiff, her facial reactions were not enchanting to viewers, lack of gracefulness. Actually she's got the looks, she can be a winner but i think she wasn't that prepared to compete that time compared to other candidates. Latinas are really beautiful, specially colombians, venezuelans and mexicans. However, in every competition, whether it is a pageant, sports, even music should undergo quality time for proper trainings and preparations. Goid luck to future miss u delegates.
before we put Colombia's comment on transgenders joining MU in negative light, come to think of this situation: since MUO already allowed transgenders to join MU competition, what if all the candidates in miss universe are transgenders, do you think MUO will still have the same prestige which it has to this day? Is MUO ready to be known as a pageant of transgenders? MUO is an organization that celebrates uniqueness and individuality. if they allow transgenders to join MU, i don't believe that the unique individuality and beauty of transgenders will be seen by the world. they need to have a platform of their own to show to the world the unique beauty of transgenders instead of riding on the platform of pageants for naturally born women.
even before the entire debacle with Miss USA and Miss Australia. Colombia had a couple of instances too that was captured by fans that was not necessarilly pleasing. that being said though her prelims was OK too bad she was followed by MISS COSTA RICA who i think had a stronger preliminary performance and also one of the Darlings of the Press and Locals along with miss Venezuela. the Online hype did not necessarily reflected what was happening on ground. if you have followed the press that was covering the event you can tell that colombia was practically doomed even before the prelims
Thank you Nia! Been waiting for this review for soooo long! Lol! Love from the PH 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
one of the best Miss Universe. and Catriona she's the most prepared Miss Universe ever. She is enjoying, having fun and spoke well during the whole pageant. Even on shows people agreed that she is very well prepared and she just enjoys the show.
Nia.. Steve shutting down Sarah had nothing to do why she didn’t proceed to the top 10 and I also don’t think that matters to the judges, they probably they didn’t pay attention to that already.
Maybe Harvey was not just happy of Miss USA this time bcoz her bad mouthing Miss Vietnam. She is a beauty queen but talk trash towards Miss V. I LOVE USA!!! But this time they sent a not so adorable admirable personality as beauty queen. If I am Harvey I too will be embarrassed thhat she did not represent well USA. Cant blame him 😕
visited your channel multiple times, finally it’s here! 😊
Venezuela is so sweet. I love her. Vietnam is my sentimental Miss Universe. USA well, she's a bigot.
I'm from PH and die hard fan of Catriona, but if Vietnam won, I would be happy.
What's a bigot? It sounds funny 🤣🤣🤣
How could you say that after the top 3 q and a you still do not know who will win???ohh god...and dont just ignore the controversies miss usa and other girls did.
African countries do not like sending delegates to Miss Universe because of past bad experiences and most African countries go farther at Miss World. Fact. And MUO does not have a huge franchise of African countries. Just a handful. I wish that the geographic category was different. And as for the wings in swimsuit. The wings are Thai inspired. I liked it. Thanks for your videos.
we waited for this review! Thank you Queen! 💙💙
Because of Miss USA bad behaviour, Steven did NOT support her and neither Miss Universe Organization!
Is it so difficult to understand?
Miss Colombia shame!
TRUE
amen!
Well actually miss Philippines came to take the crown home and the other girls are just fighting for the second highest placement which is the first runner up, she's so consistent since day 1!
The muscular girls didn't make the cut. They are India and Colombia and of course USA wiĺl always be USA. She will always place. Maybe something to do with the judges. They're all women. They may not like to much muscle. I did. Left out the three because it looks unpleasant on stage. That's just my preference, maybe the judges too!
If you were asked the same question about the legalization of "marijuana", how would you answer it? is there a safest answer?
