    Whirlpool WDT970SAHZ Third Level Rack is Not Very Useful - Only fits items flatter than 1 & 1/8 Inch
    Pro: Gets Dishes Extremely Clean!
    I would like to point out first and foremost that the dishwasher does an excellent job cleaning dishes. I had a guest comment that his glass was so clean and spot free that it looked brand new. I am also notorious for putting very soiled pans with baked on food into the dishwasher without cleaning them very well. Even on just the normal cycle these pans come out spotless. With our previous dishwashers, we'd take them out of the dishwasher when it was finished and joke that it would be clean after you scaped the leftover food off it. With this dishwasher, it is clean with pretty much no effort required on my part.
    Cons:
    Third Level Rack can only hold very flat items.
    The reason I wanted this dishwasher was for the third level rack. I wash a lot of spatulas, slotted spoons for spaghetti, etc. These items would always take up a lot of space on my second row, so the idea of a third level for these items was very appealing to me. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. None of my normal sized kitchen utensils would fit. The third level rack is extremely close to the top of the dishwasher and cannot be lowered at all. Only items that are flatter than 1 & 1/8 inch would fit on the third rack. So basically, you could put large knives, flat wooden spoons or other very flat items. A normal sized spatula would hit against the top of the dishwasher and the third rack would be unable to close. The third rack for this reason has very limited usefulness. The third rack also makes it so that you can only fit shorter objects on the second level rack. With the third row rack in, a normal sized glass will fit on the second row, but that is about the limit unless you totally remove the third level rack.
    Silverware Basket's Front Slots are too small.
    This is the first time I've ever had this issue with a dishwasher. The basket spans just about the entire length of the dishwasher and has two slotted rows for silverware. The back row has normal sized slots that will fit all of my normal sized silverware. However, the slots in the front of the basket are smaller than the back row. Only my smallest spoons in my silverware sets will fit. The soup spoons, regular forks, and salad forks will not fit into the front slots. Basically I can only use HALF of the basket most of the time. This is extremely frustrating.
    I would like to point out that the basket door design does work well. I've had other dishwashers in the past where the silverware basket in the door would interfere with the soup dispenser door opening. I have not had this issue with this dishwasher. However you are limited as to how tall your silverware can be as the soap door gets in the way on this model.
    Also since the basket takes up space at the front, the lower rack's width from front to back is slightly smaller than other dishwashers to compensate for the basket being there.
    The Spray Arm Blades are very Wobbly.
    For some reason the blades on the bottom of the second rack are very wobbly and are pretty flimsy. If for whatever reason, the blade arm starts to wobble as it spins around, it will start to bang on the dishwasher and on the tops of my plates. I'm not sure why they designed this blade to wobble so much, or maybe there is just a problem with mine.

    A good friend of mine is a Appliance repair man, he said this was the best for the money that's out there, and they just don't see them much or if ever, so with that I bought one, and will be installing it this week. You can lift up the silver ware basket door and just drop them in, I've never took the time to put them in the slots.

    Just so your aware, the spray arms are naturally supposed to be loose when their not in operation. As water jets out of them it tightens up and rotates. So don't worry about that arm wobbling during the cycle, it doesn't.

      I agree (supposed to...) and will add that the "wobble" can assist if something in the basket is too tall and hits the arm.

      is there a spray tower up top?

    • @Goldenwoodz
      @Goldenwoodz 3 роки тому

      @@ross2343 That particular dishwasher has a total of 2 full sized spray arms and one mini sprayer, there is a full size arm at the bottom of the tub and there is another full size one positioned on the upper rack, both are very obvious. There is one small sprayer on the roof of the dishwasher as well, most dishwashers are designed just like this. The upper wash arms are supplied by a feed tube that runs from the pump up the back wall of the dishwasher to the arms. It’s so important to make sure they can rotate freely before starting the machine so you’ll have a good wash

    Just ordered this one, thanks for the detailed review!
    The spraying arms flops because that way they will get self-balanced during water spraying rotation, if it doesn't it'll vibrate if it gets unblanced.

      Li Fan any update on it? Just ordered this model. Consumer Reporte has it decently rated and it had the features I’m looking for. I’ve had a self-cleaning filter and it still gets gunked up and a major pain to clean when it does. I’d rather have the manual filter with easy access. Adjustable rack, 3rd rack look like great features.

    The third rack is to be used for your silverware and utensils, its not made to fit large items. It has slots where you lay the silverware between them. Your white spatula in the middle of third rack is hitting the top spray arm/nozzel, just move it to the side. Put the pizza cutter on the third rack. Your silverware that does not fit in the silverware basket, place them on the third rack.

    On my last dishwasher I bought it was almost 1K, and it only lasted 8 yrs, and I had to clean the dishes pretty good or they wouldn't get clean, so you can spend more and get less, and this was one of the highest rated Dish washers out there with a very well respected company. The computer brain died, and they don't make them anymore. So failure is built in even the expensive ones.

    • @thegiftlady1
      @thegiftlady1 3 роки тому

      John, 8 yrs ain't bad since my appliance repair guy told me the whole industry did a research study yrs ago that found, on average people move or replace their appliances every 7 yrs or so. There went the 10-20 year life expectancy! He also said, until now a warranty wasn't always worth it. Today, its $150 for me to walk in the door... you decide. I do buy some warranties but only a mfgrs warranty, e.g. GE.
      Now I use a 5 year avg of the total appliance cost including the extras like warranty, haul away, install, sales tax etc., to determine its value to me. Since I heard those tips I've shopped for appliances very differently. My one exception was a very expensive one: we were in a rush to move in to our current home. I forgot about that service guy and got sucked in to the "EYE CANDY" being sold by Samsung (frig lasted 5 yrs) & LG (dw lasted 6 yrs). They make pretty appliances that don't last.
      My 2 required appliance replacement purchases since then were during Covid and were very difficult (stock isn't out there except the big box stores where I will not buy an appliance ever - after sale they lie, they outsource deliveries and service and say they are not respondible). But I managed and they were much smarter decisions for sure.

    I have This dishwasher too and I love it but you're right that top rack is just in the way. I was all excited when you started talking about taking it out and I was hoping you would show me how. I can't seem to locate it in the uses manual or anywhere else on UA-cam so if you are still following this thread Well you probably can't show me now because you've taken it out already but anyway it's a good video and you're right that rack is useless it just aggravates me

    Thank you for your review, I was worried about there not being enough flat ware spots cause those other holes did look too small, and we were concerned that the 3rd rack would be rendered mostly useless because of how shallow it was. And you proved it. We'll have to go with a different model.

      I definitely wouldn't pay MORE for the third rack. This dishwasher is currently on sale for $600 at home depot so its pretty much in-line price-wise with other dishwashers. If you take out the third rack, it is just a normal dishwasher so its no harm if you get it to try it out.

    I have this one without the third rack. If not gotten one load of clean dishes since it was installed! Never drains completely and if I go a week or two without washing dishes in begins to smell. I cried and wanted back my 20 year old clunker with the plastic innards! I was hoping that I could get away from everything having a white film over it but this dishwashers just as bad if not worse AND it doesn't clean dishes. I made some potato soup. I rinsed out the pot and put it in the dishwasher. It was still filthy! The rue was still all in the pot! My old dishwasher would have had it sparkling clean, albiet white film on the black handles. This one leaves the white film too, just not the clean! I even add a quarter teaspoon of phosphates to each wash

    Contrary to popular belief, today's dishwashers dispense soap automatically, whether water hits the compartment or not.
