It's a little surprising how immature most operations still are after a few decades of lean being popularized. I guess this speaks to how nonintuitive our modern (read: unnatural) environment is, or how unadapted humans are to it.
    A few hints:
    - Get rid of the words "efficiency" and "productivity" and just focus on the 7 wastes. (Not 8 btw, it's TIM WOOD not DOWNTIME)
    - Don't ever try to reduce costs. Reduce waste and everything else takes care of itself.
    - Start at the end of the process and figure out why things are not going out the door, then head upstream and fix things as you go. Then go back to the end and start again. You can't push a rope.
    - Genchi genbutsu
    - Systemic root causes are most commonly lack of process and lack of training. Even both of these can be 5-why'd.
