I've lived in Florida for 20 years and haven't seen that many alligators or snakes.
You can find them if you go looking for them but it's Florida. You expect to see wildlife. Duh.
That's why we love it here. You have to share your home with theirs.
Plus, we get to see dolphins, mantees, otters, Ospreys, Bald Eagles, etc...I saw two Spotted Manta Rays the other day. It is quite amazing here.

Agreed, lots of benefits to all of the wildlife. What part of FL are in you?

I'm a native and it depends on where you live. Florida is a huge state. I see alligators and snakes on a daily basis but live on two retention ponds. I live in South Florida now but when I lived in Gainesville, I never saw them because I lived in the city. I only saw them when I went out to Paynes Prairie. I have a friend that moved to Alachua, FL and saw a copperhead in his front yard but his son got rid of it. A bit out of the range for that snake since the only part they've been known to be seen in is the Panhandle.

😂😂😂 this hilarious video with clips from seinfeld is not far-fetched and quite honest. I have ups and downs about moving from NYC to North of florida.

Good information! But we live in upstate NY near Buffalo where we can get 7 feet of snow in the winter and plows don't reach our street for days. We're moving to FL in a few months, so bring on the alligators, snakes and bugs!

Everywhere you live is going to have some kind of downside. If you find somewhere that doesn’t have all of the environmental issues like heat, bugs, storms, etc., you can guarantee you are going to have a lot of neighbors to deal with.

You couldn't pay me to live in FL. It's not just the insane weather, heat, humidity and wildlife, but native Floridians are a little nuts. The "Florida man" meme didn't come from nowhere. It's definitely not for me. I need more temperate weather and less nightmare inducing wildlife.

    • @LivinginGainesvilleFlorida

lol, yea but everywhere has some nutty people right? What area do you think has that ideal weather?

@@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida No such thing as "ideal" for everyone, we all have our own preferences. Personally, I'm not a fan of extreme humidity, infestation of pests and volatile people, and FL is overrun by them all. My ideal retirement would be to own 2 homes in different climates, but I'll never be able to afford that.

My brother moved his family from Ca to Tx to Fl. Won’t get me to move, but I think he likes it because he’s spent so much time there over the years for various grandparents/step grandparents. Everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side!

ALL TRUE! I have lived here for almost 30 years! He did not mention many things, like bears, bats, coyotes, owls, lizards everywhere walking on the furniture on your porch and so many other animals I encounter daily. Bugs and mosquitoes are horrible (ticks too). The heat and humidity that he discussed in the video can be multiplied by 10. Exactly, no one can live here without A/C. Home insurance is a mess, my home insurance just dropped my home for no reason. Plus, termite protection and pest control in your home is a MUST. Add this necessity to your budget as well. The traffic is horrible! Disney is overrated! It is overpriced and you have to stay hours in line in the heat and humidity to go to the rides. It is simply not worth it! The best thing is to stay home, and avoid de traffic, heat and humidity.
