Feels like Dark Horse is more of a Mach 1 successor than a Shelby successor
That’s literally what it is. It’s only 15 more horsepower than GT and the Mach 1 is gone. Idk why so many people think this is a Shelby equivalent. It’s not. It’s its own standard upgrade with awesome offerings under fords name.
Exactly it's a special edition standard mustang akin to the Mach 1 or Bullit, not Shelby class performance.

The Darkhorse is more of an appliance/gimmick than anything else. Ford no longer has any competition so don’t expect them to excite anyone with a normal income anytime soon.
In my opinion, the gt 350 is the best mustang ever made.

@@roymoxley2587 In his comments no where did he say "increase or hold value" he said value keeper. There are a lot of specialty vehicle that keep their value. Things such as Raptor and TRX trucks, ZL1 Camaro, Z06 corvette and Hellcats all keep their value. Meaning they get a better return on sale than a normal vehicle, and keep that through their life cycle. When you trade or sell a normal truck or car a year after purchased you may lose 20 to 30k in value. Some speciality vehicle will hold that value better, and you may only lose 5k - 10k.

Thank you for bringing back the race scene and hope you can do some track time comparisons between the GT350, Dark Horse and Mach 1 and other cars which would be awesome brother!

Possible! And then you will remember that instead of .5 seconds you could have had a manual and enjoyed the car x10 😉 Performance is editable... Gearbox.. less so.

I dont think so. I know very deepest on any mustang and almost any car I know for over 20 years of deeply researched on every details of the car parts etc.
Dark Horse with 10 speed auto will wins. Also Heavier than 2018+ S550 GT.

Ford Motor Company should have never stopped production of the Shelby GT 350 with the Version 2 5.2 L with the flaws worked out.
As a recent 350R owner I was gonna wait for the DH to come out but after test driving the R I couldn’t live without it! I’m old school and love analog, and just don’t care about tech that much… sorry to say the more I see the DH it looks like a Camaro ! Also I was flipping a coin on a 22 Mach 1 new more logical probably ! But the VooDoo geeked me out had to have that , and roll the bones on motor! I’ve never regretted it 9 months in!
I've owner several coyote powered mustangs. Now have a 350R. The driving experience of the Shelby is better in almost every way. And then there's the sound.... no coyote will ever sound like the Voodoo. ❤
It's sooo hard to believe how much these new mustangs cost!! If I'm not mistaken gt350s, new w/out markup were listing $54k and a loaded Darkhorse is a $70K set back. To me the GT350 will ALWAYS be a special mustang to own

Great video! Overall the GT350 is an all time classic, and the more enjoyable driving experience. For straight line speed and performance, a Mach1 would be the way to go over the Dark Horse. The Dark horse statistically right now on a dyno doesn't make more power, is heavier , and can not be tuned. (And when they do find a way to tune it, the computer can snitch on you over wireless). So even a gen1 coyote with just FBO and a tune could outperform the dark horse in a straight line making the same HP but weighs 400 pounds less. And 90-100k dealer mark ups for slight tweaks, a body kit and amazon tablets is not a very good deal, if one can get a new Mach 1 for half the price. With Camaro and Dodge now gone removing healthy competition, we are back to the 1994/2005 Ford stagnation era.
We can't forget, the Dark Horse is still new when it comes to tuning so we'll have to wait a bit on that.
Man, GT350 is still a stunner today. The new Mustangs need to grow on me I think.
The Shelby has already taken its initial depreciation hit. Five years from now, the Shelby will be worth more.... and, in the meantime, it sounds glorious!

Boosted 5.0 is the funnest car I’ve ever had. I had a Hellion car and also a Whipple car. Both are equally as fun. But at high elevation where I am, boost is a MUST for these cars. The NA cars at 4500 ft are slugs 😅
My Whipple 10R80 GT is the funnest best car I’ve ever had period! Been super reliable for me too!
Fun video, StangMode! Two great sounding cars too. How does one pick between these two cars? Both are great. But I agree with you about the Shelby GT350, which was an innovator and still so beautiful. I'd take the Shelby. But I'd sure love to have a Dark Horse as well.

If I want a true driver's car, I'd choose the simplicity and analog type of interior. I'd pick the GT350. Plus it'll hold great value with age.
Really like my S550 body and interior better than the S650. It's a 19 and made sure to get the old analog gauges from 15-17 years so would be more timeless and not look outdated in 5-8 years from now.
I like the S550's look better. I would rather buy a GT-350, even over a GT-500

Nice, I bet if you had done a faster roll around 40-45, Shelby would have put an extra car on the dark horse. 30mph is pretty low in the rpm range considering redline is around 55mph.
So basically what you are saying Shelby needs the advantage of a rolling start, which in any real world situation doesn't happen.
@@markfarrow8836no he's saying 30 mph is just a bad race for the Shelby due to its powerband and gearing. Shelby shines higher up in the powerband so a 45 roll from 1st gear or a 60 roll from 2nd gear

You are just confirming what I said. Even at a 30 mph rolling start that isn't enough for the Shelby to reach it's potential. So the Shelby needs a rolling start. By contrast the rolling start is a disadvantage to the Dark Horse, which could dust that Shelby off the line
I think they're pretty neck and neck until the darkhorse has to shift then it falls back

I test drove a GT350 and bought a GT 5.0. I liked the torque of the 5.0 since I would only be ripping stop light to stop light and not tracking the car.
The 350 still Looks awsome, much badass then dark horse

I love them both but I will still be working to get a Shelby Gt350. Fell in love with the car after I test drove it.
I love the GT350, but I could live with the Dark Horse better as a daily driver. More tech and a more usable powerband compared to the GT350. Unless you're going to the track to road race your vehicle, the Dark Horse would be the better choice. I believe you'll have fewer maintenance issues with the Dark Horse as well.

Plenty of usable powerband using the gt350 as a daily. You just need to stop shifting gears so early. Hold the lower gears longer. You’re going to burn gas either way so 🤷🏾♂️. I love my gt350 as a daily.
@kennethwilliamsinc GT350s lacks HP/TQ in the lower RPM range. Just like any flat-plane engine, you have to rev the sh*t out of it to feel any power down low. The Coyote 5.0 is a much better engine as a daily because the power comes in sooner in the RPM range.
Might as well get a 10 speed 5.0 as a daily for a little more than half the price imo
@@chrism.728 exactly tho, the GT350 is meant to go balls to the walls in every gear due to the the redline. The Voodoo engine is fantastic, just gotta drive it like you stole it!
I’ve had two GT350’s. Neither had any oil consumption. You only hear about trouble units never the vast majority that are perfect.
I rather have the Shelby GT350 than the dark horse. The engine sound in Shelby GT350 is awesome

As someone that’s owned 2 GT350s both got K&Ns and a tune because they are bottom end gutless! The DH will with the track package will be the clear winner with a few light mods and a tune for the bottom end torque that’s required!

I saw the roll race results, but where were the results of the race "from the dig"?
If memory serves me right I think many are missing out a big advantage of the dark horse. Thats it fully forged and ready for power. Either way Im getting an E-ray. I wished Ford did a hybrid but that will be for later.
