Thanks to everyone who have made such great comments on my King locomotive. I bought it part finished, the original builder having spent around 5,000 hours on it. I have spent a similar amount to finish it. Top speed of the full size was around 90mph and as this is a one eighth scale model the scale top speed should be about 12mph. But models will go much faster than this but few dare to try, including me. Hope that helps. To see video of the inside cylinders and valve gear go to TINKER1174.
Oh wow. What a wonderful loco. She’s alive. Great sound and I wish I could own one of these amazing miniatures, but for now it’s marvelling at all yours!
yeah, that one kid was annoying but besides everything, he was probably way to exited that day, that's why he keep making that question. I feel happy for him
I hope some kind soul answered the inquisitive child's perfectly reasonably question 'how fast does this train go?' A quite superb looking - and sounding - locomotive. There truly are some extremely gifted engineers around.
On the right railway with mild curves and straightaways this locomotive could probably easily make 40 to 45 mph maybe more if it could stay on the rails. At my club the older end now long passed away used to time each other to see who could make the fastest timings around the railway!!
@@steamgent4592 That's quite incredible, and it would be a sight and sound to gladden the heart!! That poor child ended up his trip with his question still unanswered. LOL!! The exhaust bark is very GWR....Thanks for your answer, SteamGent. Peter A :)
@@steamgent4592 somehow don't think you'd want to risk this sort of speed unless the track was perfectly straight & perfectly level with no dips etc in any of the rails as if this thing was to come off the rails at those speeds the cranage it could cause not only to it's self but to anyone or anything in it's way don't bare thinking about i've once witnessed a 5 inch gauge loco once in accident with the coaches caused the chain to snap & the loco to break free & it must of hit about 20mph once free from the load luckily down a straight & it was scary catching that, luckily one strong guy was brave enough & strong enough to grab hold of the front of it ending up with nasty burns in the process, but it wasn't easy stopping it & if it had made the corner it probably would of derailed which could of been nasty
@@david197407 our line is exceedingly well maintained. We do track work typically every Sat from March to October and without passengers (general public) our 7 1/4 trains run at some very high speeds. We also require automatic train brakes & safety chains between cars to even run on our line. So the only issue of a separation would be between engine and tender. The large drawbars and thick pins are never separating unless you make them as they are not exactly to scale but oversized to accommodate the weight and pulling power. You could derail and mess up the looks of your engine however but I've yet to see it happen. We did have a runaway once when a chaps regulator or throttle valve broke with it open. That got interesting but he eventually got the loco in mid gear cutting the steam off to the pistons from the valves. During open days we probably only run 10-20mph so nothing exciting.
Sir i am from vadodara city of Gujarat state during princely rule maharajs (king) this type of engine and carriage were brought and track laid in their palace for their children afterwards it was handed to corporation body for general public/children for joy ride in garden with total length of 4 km. App 2.10 mile it was operating till 1992 as the boiler of this engine was effected and lying in shade abondand.
My mate owns this same loco so this was great brings back great memories of running his King many hours even on our night runs. Sadly its been down for awhile needs a valve job, new injectors, ejector, lubricators, whistle valves, and a few rod brasses. But it was a great running locomotive.
Not unnecessary, the track had just been relayed so where I was whistling are where foot crossings normally are. however there was still members walking around sight at the time.
@@TheSkyWright OK, OK. Not a huge big deal. But a little "poop poop" like at the beginning is better than a long blast. I find American videos annoying when the driving hangs on the whistle almost incessantly. As though he was playing a musical instrument. Yours is such a large locomotive, I would be surprised if any children were running across the tracks unsupervised. I would think people would want to be in a good position to see it, rather than get mown down! I've always wanted to have a garden railway, but anything on this scale would have been impossible of course. A dream hobby!

I think I saw this on station road steam, a beautiful Loco and magnificent piece of work. A credit to your machining skills!
Beautiful locomotive. Also thanks for catching some of the in cab action. Pretty cool to see how these miniature steam locomotives work.

Hello Sarosh, I have just found your comment. Is that locomotive still in its glass box? I saw it there in 2009.

What's the top speed of this train ? How fast does it go she keeps. Asking does no one know !!!!
So what *is* the top speed of this train?
In all honesty I wouldn't want to find out 😂
You really need to ask that question a few more times, before you don't get an answer to your question.
I want to go far away with mini locotrain. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ From indonesia.
Giant bins at 4:15
Nice layout
Bellissima

Good hobby. How match loko ?
It would have been nice to actually SEE the train, as well as the viewing from it. Btw, too much whistling. Unnecessary. Apart from that - superb!
