How to Make your own Blending Stump - DIY Drawing Supplies

In this video I will show you how to make your own blending stump for shading and blending when drawing with graphite pencil. I was actually surprised how easy I made one and I can also recommend it as being better than the ones you buy in hobby stores! This is definitely a must tutorial for the serious or fun loving artist who wants to DIY a blending and smudging tool! Blanding and smudging is invaluable, when you draw realistic drawings with graphite pencil, so I really hope you will find this video useful. A little trick... slightly humidify your paper after a first rolling start helps your paper not to slide or escape your grip...

You can smooth out the tip with sand paper. Just sharpen the tip with a rolling motion on the sand paper.

You grind it until the graphite is gone. So basically by Using it (not on your drawing ofc) 🤓✏️

I didn't understand the part where you ripped the paper like how should that look? Is it a soft paper? And I tried it once but it ended with a hole in the centre. Please help!

You rip it to find out if the paper is soft enough. The edge should look kinda fluffy because the fibers are soft. Try again! If there’s a hole in the center you didn’t do it tight enough. You have to roll reeeally tightly in the beginning.

I had a few problems in the beginning too. Maybe you need to try New paper? Once you get it right, you Will be able to do it in the future.
