Even Gene Hoglan was saying in a recent interview how drummers around him were freaking out when this song came out in 1982 (October). Interestingly, the song Motormount from Anvil which came out a few months later (from Forged in Fire released in April 1983) had faster double bass drums.
well double bass wasnt any thing ne new and easy now wit drum amchines but its the track thats awsome and speed these drummers are drumming can you do better cos i sure cant its not about the speed its about the timing and accept drummer was always perfectly on time same as the guitarist hell i palyed faster gabba but i seen drummers do same track on single bass drum but love the tune n guy has talent chacke out emily she does this on one base drum
Thank you for being one of the few drummers out there that releases raw audio. As an amateur drummer I always get bummed listening to flawless videos with perfect sounding double kick because when I go practice I always think I sound like shit and just bad all around. After hearing some of your raw videos though I'm realizing I've been duped for a while! Your speed and unique fills are killer man, great job!
The reason I started playing drums was "Rush." The reason I started enjoying Prog, then Thrash, Speed and Death Metal was "Rush." But then I heard this song and the reason reason I started playing Double kick drums is,.... "Fast As A Shark." game changer for me!!! \m/
@@tariksba TBH, by the time of this release I had gone on to explore more technical progressive Metal,.. also the album Breaker was to me, going in backwards for Accept in a less heavier Metal direction. if it isn't fast and in my face, it doesn't challenge my alien brain.
Depends on how good the timing in the original is. Sometimes it can be really hard! I usually make clicktracks that fit the song and just practise it often enough until I know where to change the pace a bit :D
I don't think a lot of recording where made with no clic at all. Most of the time it seems that you have severals takes at different but similar tempo put together, and with some unedited small timing issue. I think it is the case for the original track of this song. Depending the case, I edit the original track to fit a tempo, or I write a click track with a lot of tempo changes !
@@kevinparadisdrummer Making a song fit a clicktrack is actually an awesome idea! Never thought of that :D I remember two songs where I had some trouble with this and that were Slaves Shall Serve from Behemoth and also Agony of Fallen Grace from Old man's Child. Inferno and Nick Barker are both awesome drummers, but when you put that songs to a click the timing goes all over the place and I am pretty certain that they used no clicks in these.
Thank You Sir for this outstanding drumming. The views of camera for Your footdrumming is superb. I am from those days an I knew, that the leadgitarist and the drummer had a pretty job, You know :-) I love to listen to this song presently. Thank You and best regards from Germany Thorsten
This is the song that Charlie from Anthrax auditioned to get in the band. Scott said he played it faster than the original and at that point he had the gig.
Thank you for the videos. Would you say the Trick Pro 1-V pedals are superior to Czarcie Kopyto? I run Trick Dominators and wonder if it is worth upgrading. I am satisfied with Trick pedals over my DW 9000s.
Well I prefer the Trick Pro1-V, but some prefer the Czarcie Kopyto. If you like the feel you have with your Trick, I would keep them. The Pro1-V offer some more settings possibility, but are very similar to do the dominator.
And to think the only song I knew from Accept was Balls Through The Wall when I was younger. But that was all I saw from them on MTV back in the 80's!! I was totally into fast paced metal and I still am!! Killer cover Kevin!! C'est bon merci!!
Awesome!! Great sound! ...bassdrum sounds at least like a bassdrum, not that awfull klick sound triggers sometimes have 👍🤟 and most important :GREAT powerfull drumming!!!!
OMG and just to think that for today's double bass standart this is more like slow tempo (or mid tempo maybe)... its crazy how drummers nowadays can play like double and a half faster... So, yeah... on the other hand it is sad that a lot of people are excited mostly about speed, and people are generally impressed just by speed. Not all though. Speed is cool we have to admit, up to some point :D
Wow, I almost forgot about this song ... Crazy! With songs like this you notice by how much the speed and stamina have improved since then. Today this would be mid-tempo. Still love the song anyways!

Songs like this were considered to be pushing the envelope back in the day! This was badass! I forget how sweet this song is!
gabber is faster lol why make records when ya can jsut mix them :)
How hard is it to cover songs recorded without click tracks? I'd like to hear you talk about this and the drummers recording back in the day.
