Idk, I’ve found that baby turtles love to wedge themselves into tight places for their own safety, and while you might at first panic about them getting stuck, they really know how to get themselves in and out of tight spaces
@@patrickstanley7211 I've had to rescue my baby painted from drowning himself in his own tank a half dozen times because of that. Now my moto is, better safe than sorry.
I like using a back ground scene behind the tank and I only paint the sides. But your right the security of only having one viewing area does make a big difference. Great video as always!!
With the amount of space you have, you can make make the whole porch under the shade there to be long wide aquarium or evena terrarium, where you can raise the new borns. IT would be great as a display piece and a beautiful viewing area, especially with LEDs at evening or nights.
Kenan u have so many rare turtles you should get a few more commen turtles to educate new turtle owners that arnt going to have rare turtles I think u should get a few hatchlings of different species that can go in that tank with the diamond back terrapin like a painted turtle or something like that
Aquarium painting tip. Put on a very light first coat and let it dry. Then the second coat has something to adhere to and you’ll actually use less paint and have a nicer finished product.
Good job on the tank. I black out all over mine as well. Just a tip paint one coat side to side paint the next coat up and down better coverage that way.
Works only if you don't need a monster tank lol but anything below 55-40 gallons is great when that sale hits. (They changed it so you can't get anything over a 40 iirc for $1/gal)
Na he's right about online sales sites like craigslist, offerup, letgo, etc. I picked up 18 various sized tanks from 20gal to 125gal from someone who was getting out of the hobby for free. Just needed a little vinegar and elbow grease to make them like new again.
I also have a 55gal tank with two Marineland 220 pumps. I use river rock for the bottom. My sliders are about 18 months old and will eat all day if I feed them. They are twice the size when I got them. They rearrange the tank and move the plastic plants. I used a sheet of jungle paper to wrap around three sides.
I used a 55 gallon tank filled it up all the way and built a basking area on top of it. I made a ramp for them to get up on top with plywood. They use it alot
As a painter the advice I would give is to peel the tape as soon as you finish the last coat, while the paint is still wet instead of when it is dry. This will avoid that peeling effect. If already dry follow and cut gently along the edge of the tape with a thin sharp blade (exacto blade) to detach the dried paint from the tape
Aquarium can get heavy very quickly so make sure your stand can support the weight. Water is 8.5 lbs per gallon and a 55 gallon tank empty is 78 lbs. Just filling halfway with water, substrate and decorations will put it over 400 pounds and most standard furniture is not meant to support that much weight.
Razorback musk!!! They have wonderful personalities and beautiful patterns and I don’t think you have one haha put some fake plants throughout so it can rest if needed. Currently I have 5 dbt in a 55 gallon they damn near doubled in size in just a few weeks it’s crazy! Cute little turds
Need basking lamp, Uv b bulb, and heater. That led light is not adequate. I would also pull the log in the middle so he won't get stuck and drown but it is a very nice set up!
Indian Spotted Pond Turtles (Geoclemys hamiltonii). Also get another diamondback terrapin if you aloud two, may as well have two and try breeding them, as they are a species of conservation interest.
And u should do a night vlog so we can see better into that new turtle tank cuz the sun was really blocking seeing it just another suggest man love ya kenan
Kenan!!! I’m so glad you mentioned the Asian pet trade. Recently at the Tinley reptile expo, a rep from LLL Reptile was telling me how the Asians buy SOOOOOO much of their supply and how it’s becoming a huge problem. I would love to know more! Future video! THANKS! XO
@@windowpane it actually can become the problem for the native species if u export it too much. Also if they refuse that many demand, think how much money they just lost, so most seller will try to do anything possible to meet the demand and unfortunately one of that solution is catching a wild one. I think it's good to have some kind of regulation to control that supply/demand, to prevent unwanted thing from happening. Like in Indonesia where i live, the demand for Alligator snapping is huge in here but at the same time there have been many occasions that people catch/see a wild Alligator Snapping in the river, which is insane and dangerous. All of those is probably because they are either escaped or released into the nearby lake/river.
Hey Kenan I built a few aquarium systems a reef tank, cichlid tank and clownfish breeding system. I’ve learned you have pulled the tape off while the paint is still wet so it doesn’t peal up.
You should do traditional 20-30% water changes once a week to reduce the amonia, nitrates and nitrites from buildingup in the tank. I am sure turtles do not do well in high ammonia situations.
You are the perfect guy to talk to the Florida Wildlife guys about the FL baby turtle kidnapping ring they broke up. They're depleting species? I wish you would do a vid about it. It's upsetting. What's going on? Thanks for sharing your ❤️ for our reptiles.
Great job getting a DBT! I have a Northern DBT up here at my place and my roommate has 2 Concentrics. He's looking good so far and I can't wait to see more updates on him! However, I honestly wouldn't put any fish or other turtles in with him, especially at that small. Depending on how big the Cichlids are they could bully him or nip him to death or try to eat him. And if those fish aren't all that big... Weeeelll you know he's probably gonna think they're lunch. Otherwise the setup looks great and I hope you do well with him!
Man awesome! I love turtles! I have several turtles on our Homestead and I’m trying to be better about filming them more on my channel Texas Jungle! Thanks for the motivation and video!
Yeah hi can I think that Turtles gorgeous anyways I hope it doesn't get stuck between the glass in that log is look like it was starting to when you were trying to make it go forward you might want to pull that logs assets had away from that wall that glass wall I know you know better you're the turtle x 4 and 1/2 I just don't want the little thing to drown because it got stuck between a log in a glass ball that would be horrible anyways I think your tank came out beautiful and I'm sure it's going to look better as time goes on what a little adorable turtle anyways please take care I love all your tortoises and turtles love watching you take care of them and take care of nature you're very very good at it you're good man thank God for people like you cuz we really need people like you there's too many people that just don't care about anything but themselves I don't know what the world is coming to anyways please take care and God bless you and your whole family can't wait to see what's next
You should always lay an aquarium on its front side to paint the back. This will eliminate any and all spotting and will give you a fully blacked out back, same for the sides and bottom. Use gravity in your favor. Also seeded biological media should of been used. I know you’re not a fish guy, just a few suggestions. Other than that, love your channel dude
Oh my gosh I love diamondbacks so much. I used to raise them for release in high school as part of a headstart program because they're endangered where I live. They're such awesome little guys
Glad the paint worked for you! 👨🎨
Yer
Move the log into the centre of the tank so he cant get stuck between it and the glass
You're right
yep i thought that too
I had to do that for my baby turtle..lol

"I hate having to go out to civilization" 😂 I feel you!
I like that comment also. That's how I feel. Lol
My only friends are my turtles 😂
Lol I was gonna comment about that then I seen this 😂
Me2
Now we really fucking can’t
I think you should have grabbed some stones out of the pond for beneficial bacteria in there for quick start
Yurr
Its not a big deal
If you peel the tape when it's wet it doesn't lift the drying paint
sheena winslow yes! But I was on a deadline for the video:)
Kamp Kenan omg I love ur channel so much
Kamp Kenan + SerpaDesign = Great Collab 💯
LOVE the black paint idea! Thanks!!!!🐢
I like using a back ground scene behind the tank and I only paint the sides. But your right the security of only having one viewing area does make a big difference. Great video as always!!
Turtle goes in at 28:00
I’m really digging the black paint, I’ll have to incorporate that into the mata tank
Gregs Turtle Haven I just black window film that is easier and when you don’t like it then it’s easy to remove
So informative, my turtle tank is about to get a make over!!!
Absolutely gorgeous turtle. I am looking forward to watching him grow.
Good turtles would be
1.Shoftshell
2.Pink belly side neck
3.map turtle
Those are my 3 recenedetions.

I can't wait to see this little dude grow up!!

Loved this vid. I'm going to have to Google difference between terrapin & turtle. Loved watching the new terrapin swimming.
That's about the cutest thing i've ever seen!
Rock caves and plants would be very cool! 🐢
I like it when you DIY projects, starting to get a renewed interest in your video's. Have a nice day, be happy. 😉
Glad to hear it Danny!
Such a beautiful turtle!
Aquarium painting tip. Put on a very light first coat and let it dry. Then the second coat has something to adhere to and you’ll actually use less paint and have a nicer finished product.
If you use a bowl in the tank, hose into the bowl, and let that overflow to fill the tank with water, you’ll get a lot less substrate disturbance ✌🏻
Acrylic paint works best for glass and it's fairly easy to get it off
Gorgeous turtle!
Good job on the tank. I black out all over mine as well. Just a tip paint one coat side to side paint the next coat up and down better coverage that way.
Look at those little legs go, put that guy on a swim team!
Nice job on this. Pro tip: $1 per gallon is the way to go for folks buying tanks.
Turbo Fish wish that was true

How the heck did the camera that’s on the tripod start moving before he grabbed it?!
"We have all the ingredients we need." Wait i didn't know we were cooking??😂

I suggest some classic Red Ear Sliders! 🐢👌
Baby turtles are a hoot!
"There's a bucket on your tortoise "- my 3 year old smart brother 😂
That's sweet
I used a 55 gallon tank filled it up all the way and built a basking area on top of it. I made a ramp for them to get up on top with plywood. They use it alot
Beautiful ornate diamondback!!
Nice shirt. Noticed the square &compasses!!
yup your the greatest !!! you made a water mirror!! good job

The turtle really is adorable
Little dude needs a name. I vote for Crush.

I love the diversity in your channel!
And u should do a night vlog so we can see better into that new turtle tank cuz the sun was really blocking seeing it just another suggest man love ya kenan
This is amazing😍
Poor little turbo. Think you need to have Fred help you get a couple more.
Let Go is a great place to get cheap aquariums
Nice to see you finally get a terrapin man!!!! What subspecies is it?
Kenan!!! I’m so glad you mentioned the Asian pet trade. Recently at the Tinley reptile expo, a rep from LLL Reptile was telling me how the Asians buy SOOOOOO much of their supply and how it’s becoming a huge problem. I would love to know more! Future video! THANKS! XO
I don't understand how the Asians are buying so much that it's a problem. What problem is that? Maybe they can choose not to ship overseas?

Cool set up Kenan! 👍
I love the skin on the Diamondbacks. So smooth!
yep, thats how you do it!
Great content, Thanks kenan!
Really awesome

Rinse your carbon!
This was great to watch. I have canister filter phobia. lol
Thanks for the tip Kenan, hopefully one day I can get a turtle myself
Leather back sea turtle. You can try to get that 😂
Nice the ornates are beautiful
You’re awesome Kenan 🙌🏽💯🙌🏽
Good morning
How cool it will be fun to watch him grow up sitting there on that porch:-) peace
Get a mud or musk hatchling! They are awesome for in home enclosures here up North!
Kenan have you ever wondered what wierd looking turtles are lurking in your massive turtle pond? I guess they breed down there?
i was just watching one of SerpaDesign's videos. Yours was the first in recommended to watch next.
When I had cichlids in with a turtle they picked on her feet. Then she ate them.
Sharon Meriwether lol 😂 I find that funny some how

We have the same filter for me daughters red eared.works great.
What a cutie 🐢

One of my fav. Videos uv done in a long time. Aside from flyriver and sea turtles diamond backs are my fav. Love your videos. Keep um coming
I love your vids
I love the turtle
Is nobody gonna talk bout that huge turtle shell?
You have the best house on everything
That's magic Kenan. Outrageously easy aqua scape. But hey real men don't read instructions. X
I really enjoyed this video. I’d love to see more of creating habitats like this.
Man awesome! I love turtles! I have several turtles on our Homestead and I’m trying to be better about filming them more on my channel Texas Jungle! Thanks for the motivation and video!
Such a beautiful little terrapin! One of my favorite aquatic turtle species 🐢🐢💖💖
Most informative. I will eventually be setting up a tank and this will help
Use more sand, it will better anchor plants. And use rocks, even plants that are taller than the water is deep...
They have diamondback terrapins in Houston in the Galveston bay.
Hello, May I know the name of that store please? I have been trying to get diamondback in houston

LOL- TOM EDITING. omg lmao. Mad love Tom for doing WORK on Kenans footage! You always create lovely videos. XO
That unsecured log could sqish or drown the wee guy man. Dropping bucket of sand could have broke tank also
Spray paint also works to paint glass
Put some musk turtles in there 🥰
I liked the sand
Do live plants in the turtle tank
what a fun video!! :)

Clean your sand first before adding the water
He did, and commented perhaps he might have done a better job.
Oh my gosh I love diamondbacks so much. I used to raise them for release in high school as part of a headstart program because they're endangered where I live. They're such awesome little guys
Great work 'Kenanbrandt' :)
