On a clear day you can see the Mont Blanc from up there. I always take the funicular up and down. I don't know how you made that climb. It reminds me of the temples in Japan. You go up 100 stairs and then you turn and there's another 100 and then you think you're almost there and then there's another 100 until now at my age I give up.
But I love Lyon. It's the gateway to Provence and those small streets...Luv 'em
Hope you visited the Musée de la résistance and Montluc Prison where Jean Moulin was imprisoned during the German occupation of France and later was imprisoned Klaus Barbie his Nazi torturer when then extradited him from Bolivia in the 80s.
I would love to see the temples of Japan one day. I (KJ) worked for a Japanese bank in NY for a year (Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank) and have wanted to visit Japan ever since, but haven't made it there yet.
Perfect balance. The music in beginning with selected clips was inspiring and set up the lovely banter the followed. I enjoyed it very much!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I am experimenting with having less music throughout the videos. I was tempted to put music with the scenes from the Basilica, but then I've heard viewers say the music is distracting. What did you think of just having music in the beginning of this video? Would you prefer more music or less?
Thanks for your feedback ❤
Less music and more talking/showing you and Tony. It is starting to feel too manufactured.
We really loved it the way you posted it. My husband and I are not your regular type people. We enjoy the experience with the unaltered l background or just muted. But we can also mute things on our side if the consensus is to add other music. And therein lies the trickery of UA-cam. No matter what you ask you'll get tons of feedback with different ideas. To go with the flow, we tend to mute things we don't want but will continue watching.
France appears to have 23 Notre Dames, which is less than Canada at 35 Notre Dames. Sounds like a franchise Tony...lol. Lovely place.
Thanks for the info ❤️
The architecture and artistry inside the church is simply stunning! Always love seeing the local musicians too. Thank you both for sharing.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Churches take the name of the saint they are dedicated to / build in honour of.
So, “Notre Dame” means that the church (here a basilica) is dedicated to the Virgin Marie. Since Marie is the (main) saint patron of France, you will find a lot of “notre dame” all around France.
Thank you ❤️
We have been checking in once in a while because (like you , life has intervened in our regular pursuits). Thank you so much for this video. The cathedral or church in Lyon is now at the top of our list. What a beautiful place. Whether of not you decide to stay there, we (the people who aren't there) greatly appreciate your experience and your ability to bring us such a lovely area. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the music! Nice benches to sit on and enjoy the view. Was it chilly there? The church was so beautiful, so ornate. I forgot the difference between a cathedral and basilica. Debby in Kansas Thank you!
It is truly beautifu. Apparently, a Basilica is a Catholic church and has been given a special designation by the Pope, which makes it a "Basilica"
What a beautiful cathedral! Thank you for sharing this video. Hope you got the much needed rest afterwards. Greetings from Florida.
Yes, it was very beautiful and yes, we definitely rested afterwards. We are in Nice now and head back to Florida next Tuesday.
Gorgeous Cathedral ! The stairs are killer though ! I need the elevator ! Very similar to out St Joseph's Oratory in Montreal ! Thank you for sharing your lovely video's!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this video. Thank u so much for showing us this beautiful cathedral ❤
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely video as usual, guys! The only thing l would say is that when we are getting into it, then you leave us!😢 Please could you work your way up to 25 -30 minutes on air? we would love it! It seems like two of your videos should be one big one, lots of France, lots of you (but don't wear yourselves out). Anyway, blessings from the United Kingdom and stay safe. Lots of love. 😊👏👏👍❤️❤️❤
We will do a longer one soon where we catch up.
I have a solution for you. Go to France rather than pressure them to satisfy your desires. Making these videos is not easy and is time consuming. They have other things to do. People only spend 4-6 minutes on a UA-cam video anyway
Lovely scenery. Those stairs are firm incentive to increase one's workout routine. 🤭
Yes they are!
I don’t remember if it was there in Lyon but I remember going up a steep enclosed tram. To the cathedral - Wasn’t it there? I also remember not far from it was an old Roman structure stadium? Forgot the name of it. To many years ago and saw several towns we’d toured.
Sounds like Lyon 👍
My brave friends- did you train for that climb? I really enjoyed but next time the funicular.
Yes, lol. We didn't even know there was a funicular until we got to the top. But it was a good workout for all the pasteries we've been eating!
Take a cab to the front! No way could I do that climb and all those steps, although it was lovely to see the landscape in the back. This is a new-ish basilica, consecrated in 1896, built to look old. A tour might have shown you some detail to look for but maybe one wasn't available at the time you were there. I remember taking pictures of beautiful white angel sculptures and of wonderful mosaics.
Less background music is my preference. It was hard to hear you even without the music. Thank you for showing us this again.
Next time, we'll take the Funicular for sure. Although I do appreciate the experience of walking and seeing the city from that vantage point. Gld you enjoyed the video.
I was lazy and took the funicular.
Not lazy, smart!
I remember the Basilica being so much more beautiful than I could capture in my photos. It's really something! I'm enjoying your new series of videos -- keep 'em coming!
True! It's spectacular!! Glad you are enjoying the Lyon series.
11 minutes in - WOW!
So appreciate your climb. So worth it Merci
Thank you so much!

Beautiful!
