This is why I’ve never been in favor of publicly owned companies. We wouldn’t have this problem if companies will just stay private that way they would rely on making good products for people to buy instead of some investment firms.
Them having the institutional shares might not matter as much. A 7,2% share isn't really that much. But, other investors look to these big firms to gauge what's considered a good investment. They base the credit scores off this. The thing with what blackrock is doing is to convince investors that a company is valuable because of the credit score blackrock has set. And due to the power they hold over that process they think they can tweak it to bring about social change. From here a lot of companies have begun catering to their credit score, to fund their business through investors, rather than trough selling good products. Artificially boosting your ESG score is an amazing way to boost your overall credit rating. Which get's you more investors. Many investors probably also think "this is the future," because that's what they believe. Over time though, the other metrics that makes up a companies credit score will take a hit if the companies aren't actually making money. The main issue with modern games isn't the diversity thing, it's the fact that modern games are just shit which tries to pretend they aren't shit by painting it with diversity quotas.
It's both. Gaming companies would still be focused on creating good products if we didn't let the tourists take over the industry and dictate what's acceptable.
That's just it, they all think they'll get both. Like lemmings they keep going "oh well the last guy only went after the Investor money, but if we go for both, we'll succeed!" and then proceed to make the exact same mistakes the last guy did over, and over again.
I see this SBI/Blizzard Diversity chart & I can't help but flashback to the episode of Community where Pierce & the Dean are trying to make the new mascot racially neutral, to where their coffee orders are literally human skintones (Desmond Tutu with just enough milk to make it a Lou Diamond Phillips) & Jeff says I think fighting racism IS the new racism. He was eerily correct, but that's what happens when you focus on bs descriptors rather than focus on their character. That's literally the definition of tokenism aka a form of racism.
Says a lot when the foundations of modern sociology are based on "helping" by using the same guidelines as racial profiling and stereotyping, and people still eat that shit up. Painting with broad brushstrokes is never helpful. People within any group can have vastly different needs from one another, and all this mindset does is say that X people must all be the same instead of treating them as individuals.
My question is... as a straight white married woman, i feel offended and excluded by the business practices of Sweet Baby inc. who do i call to whine and b*tch about that?
Straight and white? Well, good luck with that. SBi and any company like them will just tell you to get screwed, in less nice terms. All for being white, straight, and heteronormative
"Diversity is key" why? Why do people feel entitled to diversity in fictional video games, they're meant to be an escape but it has to represent everyone and always have a social commentary message?. Like Alana said why can't they be just a relatable character but no they gotta represent my race and gender preferences.
Because it apparently makes right-wingers mad (note: in this context "right-winger" means "anyone to the right of Stalin" and "mad" means "we just want good products why is everything being turned to shit oh my god").
Because Marxism requires a division to split a unified population into tribes willing to fight each other in a color revolution. They can't build a utopia unless everything burns to the ground first. It doesn't matter what that division is, just that there is one. The only division that has stuck in the West has been race relations. Hence why the media, academics, and leftist politicians shove race in your face: it makes the populace angry. This isn't new. The far left have been trying this in the West every 20'ish years in the West. The 90's were skipped because ironically Scientology was acting as a containment for Hollywood.

If you want to know a game that handled diverse characters well, look at RDR 2. As someone who’s been around farming families like Sadie Adler or David Geddes, Rockstar did a really good job with that I feel. It’s strange how this group is involved with GOW Ragnarok. At least we can be thankful they don’t have full control of everything.
If they'd rather have brownie points than sell games they're free to do that. we'll see how long they keep thinking that way when their studios go bankrupt from investing 60M in a game that has 300 active players left one month after release.
I'm okay with inclusion in videogames or media but if that form of diversity inclusion is not properly utilized like just to fill a quota for diversity,it doesn't do any good. I hate seeing videogames that try to represent my race as a stereotype and is so poorly written that it feels like a caricature of what we are. Point is that better written characters are more memorable and lovable than forced piss-poor power tripping characters of a different background (race, gender, and etc.) that feel blander than the piece of papers I used to eat as a kid
That's what "inclusion" means, though. It's not like there weren't different ethnic groups in games in the 80s and 90s. All this shit existed before they started complaining about it. It was just organic. What "inclusion" and DEI means is corrupt, ideology-driven insanity that does not represent the population or the consumers in an organic way. If you watched the media that is produced in America as a foreigner, you'd think half the population is black, and the other half is gay or trans, instead of one of those being about 10-13% percent of the population, and the other 5-10% or less than 1%, depending on which group. And indeed some foreigners DO come away with that absurd caricature of the US. It's literally warping people's understanding of reality, and losing money along the way.
is because they are using stereotypes wrong as stereotypes are overly simplified archtypes they are to be jump point for characterization and character development but thist narcisint are incapable to understand that as they only care to see themselves projected on the character
I'm not. Mainly because it is dehumanizing. It is not in any way representative of anything, only on a superficial level. Black Panther was a slightly better representation, but even there it was iffy because the culture and level of technology those people have does not properly allign.
See there's the problem. "I'm ok with inclusion". THAT is the wedge used to enter. If you want that, it will be given in spades, monkey's paw style. Keep it simple, do you want good games that are good because they are fun, or have good stories? You get that. Do you want x race inserted? you'll get that in spades.
Thats not how it works; imagine Blackrock/Vanguard owns majority of every grocery food chain (they actually do). Then they give every chain orders to raise prices to equal levels at the same time. Its the ILLUSION of competetion, INFINITE PROFIT. Its basically colution, but anti-colution laws in US are a joke. Theres no money in enforcing it, but PLENTY in keeping the colusion.
Thing is, there's only a very small *minute* points in time where it could make sense. Like, having different skin tones in God of War with how we could see that the Nine Realms had different environments and ecosystems - such as how Vanaheim had a more tropical jungle-like climate compared to the desert of Alfheim. However, things like this shouldn't be hamfisted in there like SBI is doing or fill the piece up with it for no apparent reason. And no, I'm not supporting SBI - they can go bankrupt for all I care and we can get back to games that are genuinely interesting and a blast to play. And from I can tell, thankfully Tencent and Techland weren't on the list of their clients - meaning they didn't touch Dying Light 2. Which I should say is a game I still continue to play after finishing it and moving into a new game+ 7:24 and I agree on Spiderman 2 being subpar compared to the first. Sure, it was fun to play - but the only point in the game where I was genuinely screaming with joy was the point where we actually played as Venom. And then we never play as him again, which would've been really fun to be able to play as a monstrous character instead of the human characters we're playing so often. In fact, it'd be cool if there was a game where we could actually play as our own symbiote or something
10:25 another thing to note is one has a lot of stock in the other... like majority stock type of stuff. Blackrock is the shadow to the Vanguard... if you catch my drift. Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
Fundamentally, ESG is the latest gaslight method to control people: Environmental: Through the "carbon footprint" there is nothing they cannot take from you or tax you more to use: cars, homes, computers, travel, etc. Social: They will redefine what is "diverse", racist, or even what basic biology is to use against you should you not toe the line and speak and/or think as you are told. These will be rules that will change constantly depending on the circumstance to favor whichever group is more useful at the time. Governance: Quite simply put: this is the enforcement end of the previous 2.
After all these years, I almost can’t believe it. I’m watching people finally take my side. It’s satisfying but I still feel pretty shitty about it all having happened.

If every videogame became woke and we all just stopped playing mainstream games and switched to underground/indie untarnished games, not a whole lot would really change honestly. The scarier part here is that these investment firms are also invested in farm land. If I couldn't play videogames anymore, oh well, I could always find/develop new hobbies. What if you couldn't eat anymore though? Well, people hungry enough will dig in trash cans, beg, rob, steal, lie, cheat, con, if the stomach rumbles enough. Change will be forced. Make no mistake. The stakes are not so low as whether tomorrows videogame story is trash or not.
black rock is based in the US and in the US there are laws and regulations against monopolization that absolute apply to black rock, problem is that the government has shown countless times that they are in no way interested in enforcing those laws and regulations. There is some good news though. Disney was really close if not already a monopoly, enough of us told Disney to "go f**k yourself." By passing them up for more independent sources, now they're almost bankrupt.
It's creepy that there is a huge incentive outside of making a good product, like esg doesn't even reward them for having a good story with diversity so they don't havr to try It's why older shows that had diversity were so much more natural Like Blizzard never did anything with their diverse cast, we never got a story campaign or a movie or a show or spinoff
We need to take the corporate out of games they always choose money over the gamers and end up shitting out multiple unfinished buggy games with no story or game play
That last chat guy was a moron. Communist/socialist and straight up devil worshipers are to blame for this woke bull. Black rock openly funds all of the communist organization in the US.
ESG is the nightmare of Corporations. Cyberpunk genre told stories about the dangers of rampant takeovers by Corpos, and we've sunk into a cesspool of their dogmatic control and it's going to only get worse from this point on.
People already claimed "they just touch the story and characters it doesn't affect gameplay." And to that I can only tell people to watch at Deus EX: Human Revolution's Bossfights. Gameplay and Story is alway entwined at least for the sensemaking process. And adding narrative components can effect alot and divert resources needed to make a good gameplay. It is also why both should develope organicly based on each other and why just putting story on top is a bad approach especially in roleplay games.
Yeah.. No wonder every game has became dull and boring in recent years. When they put so much effort just into making the game more woke instead of putting that effort into making the game more enjoyable. Nobody gives a fuck about that we just want something to enjoy and have fun playing the game
On the upside their time is actually limited, at least in the gaming sphere. Millennials and zoomers will eventually be the majority of politics and while that is obviously bad for 99% of topics, it will still mean that people who actually know what a video game is will be the ones making the rules about them. Same with internet regulations, although most of the big platforms are so heavily one sided that it is just going to create a pendulum of legislative action in a few years. There is also no constitutional law that would prevent your governor from banning blackrock and vanguard from your state. The reason they aren't already regulated isn't because of pay offs, it is because most of the government doesn't pay attention to this particular entertainment space. All of the "regulation" is basically done via ToS -which is written to placate BR and VG-
The WEF know that millennials and boomers will not buy the propaganda. But they are not the target. Gen Alpha is the target. The WEF has stated if they can keep the propaganda up for 20 years, then Gen Alpha will know nothing else. Then Woke will be "normal", and ready to embrace global govt.
A few years? The pendulum is swinging back right NOW, most of the mainstream media is urinating their pants and desperately begging not to be punished for the last 8 years as they're the first getting toppled. As long as people stick to their guns and genuinely boycott, don't give them your money, don't give them ad views, dispose of their access to you, we can turn this entire mess around in the next 8.
Whats next? They gonna send a clean-up crew to "get rid" of a company that disagrees with em? Geez these folks are unhinged when it comes to this takeover and diversify bull
Who in chat said "that is not ownership that is only investing in their stock"... do they don't know what a stock is? A stock is a fractional ownership of a company... you own enough % you can become a majority shareholder and be able to appoint somone in the board of directors that will advocate for your interest. ... you don't need 51% ownership to be able to make decisions. Just to have a high %
If you cross 15% they gotta register you as an owner with the government and if you get 51% you basically own the company and only a few people have much say in what you do. Even fewer if you can afford to cash them out. You can heavily influence the company take a main shareholder seat and argue with other shareholders on the direction the company should take.
Damn I didn't realize I was looking for representation in games. I can't think of one game where I, a straight white man, was represented since I was 13 and played call of duty. Short of being a general helldiver for democracy where you never see the face, most of my time I'm not even playing humans in games
I think Blackrock isn't the one who owns the stock, it's just managing the stock for its clients. They cannot take decisions on their own unless the client doesn't take the decision himself.
The worst part about this is that Vanguard and Blackrock push all of this with money that isn't ultimately theirs, but with the money of average normie investors who may or may not agree with their message and are just trying to build their retirement. Also, the prospectus part I'm pretty sure is just about the maturation date of such a 401k or IRA (usually based on the year you turn 65 and are eligible for old people benefits).
@@Darth_Conans could also be considered a play on words. “Try our free game where you collect champs.” “Gotta gamble for them though and we may get you to buy packs for progression” *buys first of many packs* “Gotcha!”

Though I agree with the idea that this toxic politicizing of games in the name of appeasing the Twitter people that won't even play them is a problem, we need to remember that it is just one problem alongside the much bigger problem of games launching unfinished, over-monetized, and overpriced every year.

We're a type of company that leftist would normally hate and usually we don't have to care what they think, if it wasn't for the investment 'benefits'. It's just a way to get leftist policies unilaterally forced into a capitalist system, because they couldnt do it democratically.
Why are games not just allowed to be fun anymore? "Erm, not enough crippled black muslim lesbians, you'll get cancelled on Twitter. Give me $200,000 for this consultation." I often don't care what a character looks like as long as their story is interesting and compelling and the gameplay is fun.

There are times where gatekeeping is necessary, this is one of those time. Gatekeeper the hell out of the things you love, lest they fall to mediocrity.
Genuine Representation = fine, Forced representation that ruins characters and either amounts to nothing or actively go against what/who you're trying to represent = awful. We don't want diverse casts, filled with lgbt people, strong women, or any of that. What we want is well written characters and fun media, and if those things happen to be a part of that then that's amazing, but it shouldn't be hamfisted in like sweet baby inc seemingly tries to do it. If "diversity" is something that you measure on a scale, then at that point you don't care about diversity, you care about how you can exploit it.

14:35 fun fact: Kirsche knew and talked about this before it became cool
Crybaby moment.
You don’t, because you’re white (their mindset lol)
We will make the company called Superior Parent.
Straight, white and married. Nah fam. You just told them 3 reasons to hate you and are literally a demon to them 😂
"Diversity is key" why?

Exactly. We gave a finger and lost the entire hand!
It's NEVER OVER! We still have independents!
Which I should say is a game I still continue to play after finishing it and moving into a new game+
7:24 and I agree on Spiderman 2 being subpar compared to the first.
Well this was a nice video to wake up to
I haven't slept yet its a problem
You're saying you "woke" up? Hmmmmmmm suspicious.
Our dystopian cyberpunk future always has to have an omnipresent mega-corp that rules from the shadows. Good to know Blackrock has us right on track.
Basically, the old dustbags still have the last word, even with topics like this.
10:25 another thing to note is one has a lot of stock in the other... like majority stock type of stuff. Blackrock is the shadow to the Vanguard... if you catch my drift.
Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
I cant escape this stuff, the last 10 years have me feeling like a total schizo lmfao
Well at least awareness of it seems to be spreading, which will increasingly impact the only thing that's really enabling this nonsense: profits.
Fundamentally, ESG is the latest gaslight method to control people:
Environmental: Through the "carbon footprint" there is nothing they cannot take from you or tax you more to use: cars, homes, computers, travel, etc.
There's no way in hell Kirsche and Pippa don't know about blackrock
After all these years, I almost can’t believe it. I’m watching people finally take my side. It’s satisfying but I still feel pretty shitty about it all having happened.
Just wait till you hear about Campbell's soup and Bridge.
Holding companies should be illegal fr. A soulless, powerful, money-hungry, immortal entity, acquiring controlling interest in other megacorporations, is disgusting beyond measure. That is literally some ' evil secret society, owns the entire world ' kind of shit. You'd literally be better off selling your soul to a demon.
Yes....... businesses are the problem..... not the govt forcing them to do these things....... nice one, adolf.
It's creepy that there is a huge incentive outside of making a good product, like esg doesn't even reward them for having a good story with diversity so they don't havr to try
It's why older shows that had diversity were so much more natural
Like Blizzard never did anything with their diverse cast, we never got a story campaign or a movie or a show or spinoff

Sweet Baby Inc is a symptom of a greater disease
All of the "regulation" is basically done via ToS -which is written to placate BR and VG-
Are you realy implying that Millenials and Zoomers are less woke than boomers?
Dude, those woke games are made with Zoomers as the targeted public.
If you don't want Blackrock owning everything we just have to make new businesses and not sell out to them.

Corporate Social Credit Score to force “Behavior”
15:00 I love when she says "air"? "Arab"? (I can't figure it out) I tickles my ear drums 😩
If you cross 15% they gotta register you as an owner with the government and if you get 51% you basically own the company and only a few people have much say in what you do. Even fewer if you can afford to cash them out. You can heavily influence the company take a main shareholder seat and argue with other shareholders on the direction the company should take.

So this Black Rock company is the IRL Lex Luthor except no where near as cool Lex Luthor.

Wonder how many “gotcha games” are under their umbrella

Though I agree with the idea that this toxic politicizing of games in the name of appeasing the Twitter people that won't even play them is a problem, we need to remember that it is just one problem alongside the much bigger problem of games launching unfinished, over-monetized, and overpriced every year.

It's actually quite amazing how prevalent this ESG stuff is. I work for an directional oil drilling company and our companies annual report had a section regarding our ESG score and what our goals were to improve. We're a type of company that leftist would normally hate and usually we don't have to care what they think, if it wasn't for the investment 'benefits'. It's just a way to get leftist policies unilaterally forced into a capitalist system, because they couldnt do it democratically.
One good thing about the woke, I have less stress about good game releases, can keep on playing the games I have, often from 90s and 2000s.

It's lazy writing and distasteful.
Look at Chainsaw man and Frieren, interesting and solid main female cast. Meanwhile, Marvel... who?
It’s even more insulting when these people try and pretend like they invented diversity. You have Disney trying to grandstand about racism being conquered with things like Black Panther when Blade was already a thing several decades ago. You have Brie Larson and Jennifer Lawrence trying to claim they’re breaking a glass ceiling in the modern age when movies from back in the 80s like Terminator and Aliens beat them to it.
