I have a friend who I spoke to recently where he is at the age of 35. He has a decent job, a house, and yet he is unable to find any women because he couldn't find any decent women (as in good personality women). He has... Told me that, when his mother is gone, he will be following her footsteps soon. Hearing that hurts me a lot and I wish I can do more for a fellow man. The scary thing is, this situation may become my future. I am not in a relationship and I don't intend to due to my personality issues and financial circumstances dissuading me from pursuing a relationship. I have a measly livable wage, and a house loan. And when my mother is gone, I don't even know what to do after that.

We're treated like shit everywhere we turn. Nobody wants to treat us like people. We are wallets and labor, and that's all society wants from us. Men's mental health, the male loneliness epidemic, the huge difference in mortality rates in the workforce, the immensely unbalanced rate of victimhood in violent crimes, the male suicide rate- nobody gives a shit.
I've had one serious relationship. It ended 5 years ago. I was emotionally and psychologically abused, and nobody cared when I talked about it at time, and they cared even less afterwards. I was victimized by multiple people as a kid, and all I was ever told was how "lucky" I was to get laid, or how other people would've "jumped at the opportunity". When my family learned about my self harm issues, instead of getting me help, put me on complete social lockdown. No internet, no TV, no music, and every sharp object in the house was locked away, even though I did 90% of the cooking, so I had to be watched when I was doing so. Two years ago when I was almost killed by my roommate in a drunken fight, no charges were pressed, and it was never discussed again. Police refused to help, and I had to go back a few days later because I had a job and house to maintain.
The world doesn't care about men. Why should we care about the world?
Edit: I appreciate the kind words, folks. A lot of things are in the past, and I've moved on for the most part. I made this comment for people like myself who have been treated with apathy and scorn for nothing else but how they were born. You are allowed to be hurt by the things that happen to you. You're allowed to be human. People may disagree or be unwilling to admit their faults, but they don't matter. Their thoughts and opinions on your experience do. Not. Matter. Take care of yourselves, and take care of each other. We're all we have. Let's make the world better, for ourselves, and everyone around us, regardless of the backlash. Ask your friends how they're doing. If you see someone going through hard times, offer them an open ear, at least. I understand my final words of the original post are counter to what I say now, but we can only make things better if we have the empathy and motivation the rest of society doesn't. We can't fight hatred and ignorance with more hatred and ignorance. We need to be the change we want to see in the world, because at the end of the day, we are the only ones who care.

“Dating is available to anyone at a single swipe.”

    • @rpglover5955

There is a point to it, in that "you have access to attempting to connect with more people than before", despite the very next step being the very limiter that leads to your point (Aka not getting matches on dating apps if you don't meet a specific standard/ getting into the algorythm).
Imagine seeing a grocery store in the distance. Technically, you have access to stand outside the door at any given moment, but it doesn't mean that you can just waltz in and buy things if the store is closed. Same kinda deal with dating today. You can go onto a app, and attempt to match with far more women than you would be able to attempt courting 50+ years ago (when you were limited to mostly your local community and maybe the big city if you had the means to get there), but that doesn't mean you WILL get matches.

and the best part is that the program deliberately gives you bad matches. if you get what you look for, you'll stop using it and the makers of the program make no more money off of you viewing its ads. so you never get the best matches, it always gives you bad results to make sure your relationship fails and you return back to the program and milk you for all the ad revenue they can.

@@laucorn123 This, sadly this SO MUCH!
I am in my 40s and I have sat back and watch, when they finally started asking, about 20 to 25 years of them asking, "What's wrong with men?" and the very moment we open our mouth we are pretty much told to shut up, we are lying, go to the gym and get a shower, etc, etc, etc. Hell The only time we are allowed to talk really is when they talk for us which is normally a woman talking for/about men, and a hand full of men that are doing darn well for themselves, WAY better than the average guy at best, then with said woman(s) they sit back talk and shame and insult the very men they asked, "Hey, what's the problem?"
It took me getting older in my late 20s and early 30s to realize what was going on, and yet now it's SO much worse that guys in their teens and 20s are seeing it, and if they are seeing it WAY earlier than I did, how the hell does that look someone like me trying to play then "You don't know what you are talking about" or the "You are too young for saying such things", NAH! That just shows me it has gotten SO MUCH WORSE!
Worse part is that I honestly can't even tell you if there is a fix. It's too many things upon things stacked on each other to be just one thing. Years ago I used to think that, "Okay there will be a "THING" that will happen and then they will realize both, "OH crap we do need them and maybe we where wrong", but fast forward to know and I feel like I read too many comic books to think like that because they REALLY don't care, like it come down to the "wire" and they would rather double and triple down in our final hours than even once care.

My theory is that, people generally viewed "men" as being advantaged because most millionaires and billionaires are men. In reality, only a small % of men had the advantages that people assumed all men had. To compensate for the perceived advantages of men, women got lots of new advantages, affirmative actions, grants, all manner of different things to try and close the gap.
this means that right now the people who are most likely to succeed are men from rich families as they always have, and women. Meanwhile the average joe man has basically been abandoned.

That'll be the Apex Fallacy. Since wahmens are hypergamous, they only see those men that are 'above' them in social position/status, and men 'below' them are literally invisible. Hence, to them, _all men_ are super-privileged, since those are the only cohort they're capable of perceiving. You can see this in action when women proclaim how they don't need men at all - utterly oblivious to the millions of men who build and maintain the infrastructure which makes their comfortable, cosseted lives possible, and without whom they - we - would all perish. One big reason why immigration is pushed that much in first world countries: increasing the "workforce" aka people needing a job, to keep wages low and prices high (basic supply and demand). In germany we are told repeatedly in each and every newspaper, etc. "we need at least 300-400 thousand immigrants per year to stay competitive in a globalised market". The humanitarian stuff they tack on is just to make the idea more palatable to the public.

Planning things out like buying an apartment of my own, saving money for a Starter home (I hate these are gone now), and other plans and moves to make. From my Teens to my mid 20s I watch as the prices went insane from apartment to homes, collage prices went insane and the first group to start suffering life time debt and the whole darn near promise of having a job after leaving collage just totally stop. Speaking of jobs, I watched as jobs stop training you in places that where entry level suddenly change. At first requiring you to have so much collage credit, which pretty much felt like a way to gate keep certain people out, but when everyone and their mom had no problems going to collage, only to then move to the now needing to have 3-6 years experience on entry-level jobs. Now days with needing a bachelors or more added on to that for pay that is $12-14 hour/ salary at best.
I mean I could go on and on and on! Now days I sometimes sit back annoyed I wasn't older back then and could have gotten in on things before they started changing lol. I don't blame Gen Z for being upset at how things are, but man they have no idea what is was like being just old enough to WATCH as everything changed and being 3-5 years out of reach to do anything about it and seeing it end up as it is now. I'd rather have not know and learn about it and be upset than to watch it happen and be powerless to even make moves because you are 3-5 too young to make moves.

I did run in to that with the machining aspect of things. I went through a 'fast track' course for basic machining that taught some CAD and whatnot, but most of it was manual rather that CNC. Going back to the machining side of things; the two places that I did wind up working, the one hired me in to finish a contract for them that lasted a month and a half, I was handed my pink slip by the shop boss, not even the owner who was the one who interviewed me, and told 'get out, good luck'. I was taught -nothing- by anyone there other than how to run the machine that I was on that already had a pre-loaded program.
The other place was something I did get via nepotism through my father and his connections; I started there and had a great teacher who helped me along the way, but the shop bosses didn't like that he was teaching me things, so he legit pushed me into a different shift and then let me fall flat on my face as I didn't have the experience necessary to run the machines to their standards without help. These machines were from the 1940's and were drip-fed from a 3.86 computer to "NC" programming through a relay cabinet the size of a large refrigerator...I didn't know how to fix it when it broke (which it did constantly), I tried learning, asking questions, etc...Nope; They wanted a full blown machinist and treated me like shit because I wasn't one, and then I made -one- mistake on a piece of 1 1/4" bar stock that we had -tons- of in stock and the mistake would be easily fixed, but naw...they shit-canned me. Finding out later through that mentor that I had that I was actually sabotaged because the shop lead didn't like me.
Fun stuff. Now I work retail...wishing I had a time machine to go back to when I was 19 and before injuries and such took their toll, and go in to plumbing, or masonry, or welding, HVAC, etc...

    7:35 "Unemployment has dropped..."
Unemployment is measured by how many people are receiving unemployment benefits. Those benefits are not permanent; they last maybe a year or so, and then you can't get them anymore. So yeah, when people aren't finding jobs, and they run out of unemployment benefits, the unemployment would go down, on paper. Low unemployment numbers does not equate to high employment rate. The same numbers would be shown for a country whose job market is nonexistent, and whose citizens can't find work, post-benefit expiration.

When society shits on us constantly for the last 20 - 30 years why should we still care? We got the skills to keep society running, we got all the abilities and we are the guys who kept it running for the longest part. Only to get shit on, only to not be seen and recognized by the other gender and society in general, so why should we still care? What logical reason is there to stay in the game only to get nowhere and be looked upon? Loss of gender roles, family, community and country all play a much greater part in this. Without gender roles, neither side can get what they want in a partner. Without family, there is no one to catch you when you run into problems (this is also a problem with dysfunctional families). Without community, there is no one to support your family when it has problems. Without a country, there is no one to support your community.

A lot of companies only advertise jobs for the tax breaks it gives them. They'll accept applications/resumes and do interviews with no intention whatsoever of hiring. So the demand is actually much lower than it looks on paper. Also you'll hear of the trades being under maned. It's only the customers of the trades saying this, not the tradesmen/companies themselves. They have been gatekeeping the trades for a long time. The less people in the trades, the more tradesmen can charge for their services, the pickier they can be with their jobs. So there are even less jobs than it seems.

My therapist's office never has a receptionist, because they only have one who works part time. My coworker was having tech issues the other day - it took more than 3 hours for the calls to finish with nothing being fixed because there are so few real human employees and none of them can communicate with each other properly. I went to the ER not long ago. The amount of nurses in the hospital was laughable for the amount of patients they had.
Yes. They post jobs specifically for the tax write-offs. But nearly everywhere I look, companies are understaffed with no intention of ever changing that because the fewer people to pay, the better. Why pay 10 employees when you can force one to do 10x the work?

And you repeat this for years, no women(or men idk sexual orientation stuff) no dates, no love, no nothing, the 2-3 maybe 4 friends you've known since forever you occasionally hang out with, just to go home to engage in whatever hobby you "think" you enjoy, but in the end, you don't enjoy life, you don't enjoy anything.

Yeah, this... that is part that kills me slowly the most.... nothing brings me joy anymore.. tried therapy, tried medication self and doctor, tried staying in, tried going out... just... blah. I exist merely to exist at this point.
Strive to get to the next day, then the next, then the next... I miss having a reason to live, but I honestly have no idea how to find that again as things are. It feels like... nothing is real, nothing matters, nothing changes.. even folks here saying what worked for them.. I am glad... but also, I tried those. I tried work, education, hobbies, friends, romance, writing, art and on and on and on.. all that seems reliable; my rent will go up faster than my wages and eventually I can look forward to the former exceeding the latter.
I have no idea what might finally work for me... but I am fairly certain I will cease function before I find it. Maybe a bit of doom... but throw me a bone. Change my mind.

There are a ton of "entry" level jobs that require too much for most people to even be considered as a hire. And it's typically stuff that you can learn to do really quickly and don't actually need any prior experience with. Hence why people with connections or who lie on their resumes get such jobs and aren't fired. I've never done it, but I totally understand lying on your resume when companies essentially lie on their job position requirements.

Hey Alana, I just wanted to piggyback off of a point that was made in the early portion of the video about making our cities and their buildings beautiful. It is not simply about the aesthetic. It is much deeper than that. How we build our towns and cities reflects on the collective societal psychology that builds these places. Our ancestors, even as recently as 70-80 years ago, understood this. The great cities of Europe like Venice, Prague, Florence, Vienna, and Rome that have maintained their historic city centers are all built around great Churches, Temples, universities, museums, and libraries. They are built around places that the societies of the time viewed as being of central importance. This has an effect on the people who live in those places. When you look at American cities, in particular, and ask what are they built around? What is the central focus of this city? Most American cities are built around financial districts, and their suburbs are all built in cookie cutter, copy-paste templates around conveniently spaced shopping centers. We, as a society, have placed the consumption of goods as our highest and most central value. This results in our viewing people as a good or commodity as well. All the rest of the issues discussed in this video essay flow from this central concept. Our society does not view people as co-conspirators or teammates in the great game and adventure that is life and creation. Instead, we are viewed simply as numbers on a spreadsheet.

My mom has gone through renting various houses for more than a decade and that's the worst of both worlds, so that's a no-go as well for me. The only benefit to renting a house over renting an apartment is that you might have slightly more privacy without neighbors literally wall-to-wall with you.
Renting an apartment from a housing company might suck, but at least they are decent at maintaining the place.
No such guarantees if you rent a house.
At one point some years ago my mom lived in a house where the landlord considered the fact that they had to have a pump lowered into a hole drilled in the floor of the basement and pumping out water every 90 minutes to prevent flooding "acceptable" and not a drainage issue that the were legally obligated to fix.
Another thought it was fine that their house was literally insulated with straw instead of rock wool, despite it getting cold as balls in winter. (Very old house, the straw was the original insulation.)
Another (very old guy) told my mom and her husband that he'd vouch (act as security) for them with the bank if they wanted to take out a loan so they could buy the place they were renting from him. Then he got an offer from rich assholes from Stockholm who wanted it as a summer home and that was that.
I'd take a shitty fixer-upper that I nominally own (taxes to the gov not withstanding) over staying in this fucking hamster cage the rest of my life, but even shitty fixer-uppers are out of my price range.

I've been wondering if we'll ever see an economy stall-out somewhere because wages in the bottom end of society cease to allow those people to participate in the economy. Example - In the US, FDR's (1933-45 US President) idea of the minimum wage was built with the idea of one person earning enough to have a house, a wife and some kids. A "Living Wage".
Today you see people claiming minimum wage is meant for people to exist in poverty... while ignoring that wages above the minimum ALSO have the issue of people existing in poverty and struggling to get by. Some places have teachers working second jobs just to live... a respectable job that requires education doesn't pay enough to exist comfortably.
What percentage of the population need to be non-economic participants in society before the pyramid collapses?

I then withdrew from the world to take care of my mother who was bi polar in one house and my grandmother with dementia and her husband a stroke victim in another. After a year of extreme stress and lack of sleep my mother died of a heart attack then two days later my grandmother died. Now I’m broken and I can’t get going again. No friends and only distant family who barely know I exist. Now I’m just waiting do pass away but I don’t know how. I’m not sure why I’m writing this. No one cares

I'm going to be 45 in a couple weeks. Single, exhausted, burned out, probably suffering from some level of depression. was let go from my job of almost 18yrs back in April. been looking for work ever since. I've applied to so many "open positions", been to a few interviews but always passed over. I've given up on romance, all I got were nasty looks, and generally ignored except for the scammers. . Giving up completely and finding some remote place to just wait to die sounds good sometimes. I keep going because it is all I can do.

The summer before my senior year (2 years ago) I got work as a temp laborer for the Alabama DOT. I was in liter pick up, and I, my mother who was a high-ranking official, helped me apply. She assures me I got in with my own merit, but I know that without her, I wouldn't get the job. I was scared that my coworkers would hate me, but they were all really kind and helpful. We would work 10 hour shifts starting at the break of dawn in the sun all day on the side of a dangerous highway. I'm in college now, and while it's more comfortable, I feel like I was more fulfilled in that job. I wish people gave blue collars the respect they deserve.

I'm almost 40, alone, and not much hope. And it sucks, but I've kinda given up on a lot too, without any idea where things are gonna go. My dad and stepdad both died too young, grinding away their lives working to support their family, my mom worked so long at a job that never gave her a significant raise, it almost drove her crazy, and she had to retire. I refuse to play that failing game everyone seems to expect of me. And to make matters worse, AI will soon throw a wrench into the whole system, once it can out compete most human workers, they're not gonna hire people like me. We need a whole new economy, new ways to distribute resources, if there's any hope that we're going to fix this. Frankly, I just wish I could find someone who sees things as I do, so I don't have to feel so alone.

Women get so offended by the notion that their roles are to take care of the home, their husbands, and their children, but don't bat an eye at the notion that a man's role is to put the safety and happiness of his family and country above his own by giving a third of his life away to some company, just to make money he doesn't get to keep, or to fight wars, or put himself in harm's way.

Personally I do not date because I am terrified of being accused of being a creep or worst knowing I have no legal and social recourses, so the best way to avoid this is to just not try to date.

Left and got a degree in a trade skill, can't get a job because every entry level position require 2-4yrs of experience out of school with multiple specializations required for a piss poor pay.

Honestly Alana your story about getting the job in retail sounds like dating for most men these days, at least with modern women.
They got a list of canidates lined up and you are supposed to feel good that they picked you for the braindead position of paying for their bills while they tolerate your existence. Then they wonder why men are just like screw this I'm staying single!
41:17 You know what else would probably help immensely? If normal average women would get off their high horses chasing Chads who don't want to wife them would come back down to Earth and form relationships with average men, you know the actual men they deserve!
