The Executive Order 13295 was amended and signed by Obama on July 31, 2014. The Executive Order allows for the detention of Americans who display, respiratory symptoms of Pneumonia or other respiratory illness including Ebola that are capable of being transmitted from person to person. This allows the government to legally apprehend, detain and conditional release individuals. This is so they can prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of suspected of any communicable diseases. So, you can't fault the government for having a plan of action in a crisis situation, but what are the true implication of the amendment that Obama had signed? Obama's amendment ensures that Americans who merely show signs of respiratory illness, with the exception of influenza, can be forcibly detained by medical authorities. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC has measures in place for dealing with an outbreak of communicable disease which allow for the quarantine of "well persons" who "do not show symptoms" of the disease. The CDC has failed to follow proper disease protocols meant to prevent a deadly virus such as Ebola from spreading. Under the Model State Emergency Health Powers Act, public health authorities would be given expanded police powers. The Obama administration is now refusing to block flights from West Africa or tighten border security. So it's important for Americans to be made aware of the recent events. So it's up to us citizens and through alternative media to address this issue, exercise what rights we do have left. Do what ever it takes.
