It relaly inspired me. Tommy Byrnes has remained one of my favorite guitarists, and I play and sing billys songs on piano since 16 (ten years ago) but my voice is going from smoking. Anyway he really inspired me and I have to thank him and the awesome band he had at the time. T-Bone Wolk on bass here, is now deceased sadly from a heart attack a few years ago. But Tommy is still at it on guitar, Crystal, Mark (I prefer his original sax player), ... Libertys gone since what like 2004 or something? All because he wanted fair pay for doing the shows. In an arena show Billy does the first like 7 rows of seats in the front are what the band gets paid per show. That isnt fair, and Billy has to know just cause his band is named after him, his shows would suck with solo piano. Imagine the turnout and imagine a show with just piano and Billy. He doesnt play like Elton so it just wouldnt work.

+Aaron Grossman Yeah youre right. Billy old layout of the stage in the 90s is one of his best, if not the best. The two side stage pianos are gone now. Nothing beat the moments he walked between the two or would turn the stage pianos in different directions and get the crowd he faced cheering loud. He just doesnt have the energy anymore to do that stuff.

Props to the percussionist. Maracas (and similar instruments) are difficult to play in general, as you have to be slightly ahead of the beat for the beans (or whatever) inside to impact on the beat. Then to dance at the same time? WOW!
I saw Billy Joel on this River of Dreams tour three times and every time he seemed like he was bored out of his mind. The same seems to be the case in this video.
T Bone Wolk (Rest in Peace) should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on his own Merits, a fine replacement for Doug Stegmeyer rest his soul. Liberty Devitto and the BJ Band were also screwed by Billy. Such a shame with such amazing music they ALL made for the world.
Saw him here in Cleveland when he was touring for the nylon curtain and hab 10th row floor seats. When this song came on the keyboard shot up from the floor of the stage and he sat down and started bangin it, anybody else see that tour cuz I have a hard time explaining that to people but I saw it happen and I was relatively sober at that point.
