About those death threats, I once heard a great quote: "Living is the best revenge you can play."
Reading feels natural to me. I could read when I was 3. I accidentally made a rhyme! *laugh*
Oops, I didn't know that asterisks make things bold on UA-cam.
YES THEY'RE BACK.
I think Gigi was jealous of you not paying attention to him :-D. They can be real jerks, but I don't think it was unprofessional, I think it was just cute, but I love pretty much every cat I see, so... :-D I'm always again surprised that autism experience is very similar to me experiencing depression episodes and especially anxiety episodes. I sometimes have trouble understanding people, even their body language, or have sensory issues of too loud sounds, too bright lights or the world moving really fast or slow. And I think I also stim sometimes, I tend to click pens a lot, at school I used to draw stuff on my notes when I wasn't writing, or when I'm sitting ad reading, I tend to move my toes as if I was listening to music or something. It calms me down and help me to concentrate.
Anyway, I got carried away. I watched both your long videos today, I loved them, honestly very calming, I love your voice and appearance, it's soothing :-). I'm happy that I was able to donate at least a little bit for your new computer, I thought about you many times during recent months and was a bit worried about what happened to you and your videos.
Neurotribes is hardcover only. The so-called paperback edition is actually more of a "cliff notes"-ish book.
and now she is the second image on google.
i was wondering about them. glad to see you back up and running.
There are some movements I make that I think might be unconscious stimming. Also, the best stim for me happens to be hugging my giant teddy bear, and unfortunately I can't take her with me going places.
Wish I could of been part of the live-stream. I would of loved to ask you a few questions. That's also so cool that your synesthesia is not just associative, but actually projected. I just have associative synesthesia.
1:15:13 You trained your cats to use the toilet? THAT'S AWESOME!! I thought that was impossible.
31:14 COOL! I've never seen a stone like that before!
Where are you these days? The most recent video i found was from one year ago! Thank you thank you tgank you. Your story is my story yet i am 49 and it is 2 PTSD therapists vs a psychiatrist disagreeing if i am in fact autistic or just mentally ill. Does bot natter. I support all. All is Divine. I do know i see world much different than many and yet they thank me for different perspectives. I had to have speech therapy at 4 or 5 mother was told i am adhd as i would rock in my chair at family dinner. She intuitively did a lot right. So i just found you and you are hidden now from public? Remember LAW Love Always Wins. LOVE ALREADY WON, may you be strengthened and protected by spirit . Oh and autistics, disabled, homosexual, they treated worse than mammals, birds, or even outdoors insects...they are treated like criminals and i cry for this almost daily then am told i need a pill for depression...no, i say when one awakens to this some crying is to be expected, even healthy my trauma therapists said. That is changing i hope....thank you nmw you are doing the best you can as am i as is everyone so it is okay!! Coexisting is key. How to is our journey...please a link for blog or something? Thank you, Dear one. Love the holey rock and thanks for sharing part of your life with us.
hi thankyou so much for all your amazing videos. you really give me hope my 4 yr old son whowas recently diagnosed hfa. keep up the awesome work of awareness.
Thanks for hanging out with me virtually while I am waiting another 15 days for my son's diagnosis. :) Thought you might want to know that for me this had much quieter audio than any of your other videos.
The camera looks great! Great vid!
Thank you for your perspective. My son has asd and I appreciate hearing your words about accepting who he is. Love this advice
Also, they're called dobby stones... As in dobby the house elf...
People don't get more awesomer than you Amythest. You are like sunshine! I'm just learning that my 4 yr old son might me autistic I've learned so much from your video's, million thank you's!
51:02 Yeah, sometimes I question if I'm even autistic. I basically diagnosed myself as such. I mean yes I'm quiet, don't pick up on “common” social things that people do with each other, and often I'm nervous or stammer my words but I'm also a fantastic writer and idk, just sometimes I feel more “normal” then “able” people.
i just want to thank you for your channel, i have aspergers, well, ive been told i have aspergers so i was like wth is that?
when i searched it i found your video's and they really helped me understood what i actually have,
just wanted to thank you for that ;)
27:30 You're so good hearted!
If...
The mind is a computer screen. NTs can have chat window, shopping list, video, knitting pattern, news feed, map etc. All open at the same time. In my mind, one app fills the entire screen. I can switch between. Apps quickly but i dont like to. Then there's pop ups...
I'm the opposite: I have a heck-of-an immune system (stronger than anyone I've ever known), but I *am* lactose intolerant (in my adult years), and I have gradually gotten used to a somewhat selective diet because of my strong preference for familiar routines when cooking...
1:30:12 You're the third image now :3
Lovely video by the way, thank you for this
57:07 look at the kitty in the background!
24:19 True that!!
Woah, I was wondering whether you knew about ASMR and it did come up in this video! That's cool
I'm neurotypical (though I'm wondering whether I'm otherwise? lol) and a while back, I realised that I like to play certain cartoons/shows (Like 'Cats don't dance', 'The iron giant', Director commentary of 'Up', etc...) in the background while I'm working or if i want to relax... so I guess that's a way I audio stim?
Recently, I've been repeating the game walkthrough of 'Sanitarium' and that's nice. lol
Hi Amythest, I am a mom of a child with dyspraxia and I really love your videos. I am in graduate school and doing research on how parents can build resilience. I am also building a website where parents can go to find the best resources (it took me hours and months before I found you!) I am wondering if you would consider making a video that talks to parents who have young children with Autism. What do you think parents should know? How can parents help their children? How can parents better engage with family members and community? One of my biggest challenges as a parent has been the feeling of isolation that is associated with raising a child who is labeled as "different". I love your video on autism acceptance verses autism awareness. I believe it is messages like these that empower people! I know it helped me change my perspective as a parent even! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Your videos are always so thoughtful and I am sure they take a lot of time to create but even a 3 minute message directed to parents would be such a gift! Thank you!
The same thing for me
I hope so
I would like to help my brother and how can i make him happy
Hi Amythest
I love your videos & find quite informative. I have watched every one of them up to the point where you stopped posting a while. Glad to see you back up & posting. Only there is one minor problem. Your microphone volume is too low for me even when it's not competing with other noise at my location. I drive truck & often watch videos while getting loaded on location but it is generally noisy there. your older videos were just perfect volume for those situations.
I always suggest having your doctor check for any allergies or digestive problems. They certainly don't CAUSE autism but being miserable because you ate the wrong thing and your body is complaining is bound to make dealing with your daily life worse.
I'm pretty sure that's why some people think the diets help in general, when you eliminate something that DOES bother your system you get a happier and thus more functional autistic person.
The problem is neurotypical people often seem to want autistic people to all be the same and think if eliminating something from ONE autistic persons diet helps them it should help EVERY autistic person.
have you seen or heard of the movie Jack of the red hearts
Does anyone else find Amythest announcing drink breaks really helpful. I must will myself up to get a drink now 😅
BTW amazing videos, thank you!
+neurowonderful *The internal camera on the new Apple® iMac®* worked as well as I'd expect of my Logitech® QuickCam® S7500 in a live-streaming situation. Only the internal microphone on the iMac left something to be desired; sufficient gain really calls for a mini-shotgun mic such as the Senal Sound MS-66-K (MSRP $128.95), which connects to the Microphone jack (via a 3.5mm TRS extension cord if necessary) and has a 1/4"-20TPI stud mount as an alternate to the included SLR-camera cold-shoe mount.
Time 1:08:40 The adult autism diagnosis is VERY luck of the draw - our fellow UA-camr +girloutside actually had to go all the way to Great Britain for that, no joke, and she's hamstrung with a Henderson List of ailments, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
nope. Thats a terrible idea. using the Rode video mic go with an extension cable is the a lot better. it doesn't require phantom power and it's super directional. A lav mic is also good.
Favorite bands/artists?
you are sixth result when i google hand flapping!
How can one train one’s cat to use the toilet?
Humans are animals. Scientific facts. Animals feel pain, joy, love.
Be kind to all animals.
Disability is not a death sentence.
Disability means being different, differently abled, that's it.
Disabled humans are not monsters or machines.
We are all equals.
Wow, you're so beautiful... (sorry, couldn't help it)... ok, back on topic..
I didn't yet get the name of Amy's (is it okay to call her Amy instead of amythest?) pets... gigi (?) for the cats name?
+DerParadonym Please call me Amythest, and yes, the black cat is Jiji.
+Amythest Schaber (Neurowonderful) Kiki's delivery service!?
anne Yes! It's a longtime favourite of mine!!
I was wondering, is Savant Syndrome an actual thing an autistic can have or be? If so, what is it exactly? I heard Savant Syndrome is A type of autism where one's memory is better, they have a better understanding of mathematics, and they're creative with they're imagination or art. Is this even a thing? This question reminds me of the movie Rain Man. Sometimes I think I have Savant Syndrome but I don't want to sound prideful in saying that some of those things listed come easier to me.
also when you write auti$m $peak$ it wont make them trend or show up in searches!
... this one , too ... hardly to hear ...
Ohhhh, I thought “Autism $peaks” was like a way to mock-censor it because it’s so gross, like a cuss word. “A***** $p****”
When you are generalising Autism and talking lies from your perspective - do you know that 50% is non verbal and will never tell if they have pain without a tablet? Biomedical interventions is not curing autism but it is helping brain to function and lot of people can learn and sleep with these interventions. So please don’t speak for others and tel lies.

+jason thayer Aw :( Thanks for the info.
+Amythest Schaber (Neurowonderful) I believe they were mistaken. I found this, which has about the same number of pages as the hardcover.
