If you disagree with Irelands stance on Israel, I implore you read this comment. Here in Ireland, our history was suppressed. If you spoke Irish or continued your culture, you were executed. As a result , when we gained independence our education was not censored and manipulated like many other nations. We have experienced the devastation of being on the wrong end of propaganda. People in other countries don't know that the famine which decimated our population, was orchestrated and encouraged by malthusian British elite. Our people starved as we slaved over plantations, while the food was shipped out of the country. Children died as they tried to eat grass, while the countries agricultural yield was exported. This has given us an affinity with people being oppressed, and led us to educate ourselves on subject. Much of the world media propagandize news related to Israel, because Israeli organizations were set up to filter the perception of their actions. After Israel blew up American soldiers in the USS Liberty massacre and slaughtered neighboring countries during the 1960s/70s, it set up organizations to counteract this negative press. This has now led to America in particular, being so manipulated that its citizens have no idea what's going on. Please stop listening to the same sources who led us to every war and disaster over the past few decades. The jewish people are victims as much as the people of Gaza, the difference is their victimization is mental and not physical.
Alot of that is a misrepresentation or an exaggerated version of Irish history. Very much propaganda. I did a lot of reading while in Galway learning about Irish history. It isn't as black and white as you claim. While the British had a callous attitude towards the Irish poor and didn't exactly rush to help, that was a sign of the times. The English poor also had workhouses and there was little welfare to the poor outside charity. The Irish people were able to emigrate to the mainland to find work. Ireland was massively overpopulated which made the situation worse. The exports were not fit for human consumption...but oats and corn for horse feed. Exports fell too drastically in number, so it wasn't like you said.
Countries like South Africa and Ireland have faced similar oppression in the past faced by Palestine now. They know what fighting for their rights and freedom means. Kudos to them.

@@BabylonsChains Exactly!
On the flip side, countries like the US which have a history of genocide and cultural erasure of course stand with Israel. It's really telling.

The Irish have always stood in solidarity with occupied and oppressed people because of their own experiences with occupation and oppression.
