I remember watching Mr. Gaddis on television back when I was 8 or 9. He is part of what got me interested in fly fishing because he eventually starts to do it. Back in the day when every fishing trip was an adventure!
Ha, back in the day when we was kids I was glued to a 16” black and white PHILCO TV Gadabout was my fishing hero , well he to got me going fly fishing , and your right fishing trips were an adventure, now I’m so old dust comes out when I fart , but my fly fishing days is still an adventure 👍🏼
Wow can’t believe I’m watching this 66 yrs later , gad was my first inspiration, I started with the cane pole , moved up to and old casting rod pops had a couple extras , and eventually moved up to a 2nd hand fly rod I bought with my money doing odd chores around the neighbors, I got it at a yard sale $5 bucks that was around 1958 , hollow glass 6 wt and reel , still got it !
Love the music on these old shows. Heard about Gadabut Gaddis, don't know where or when, but I'm amazed to find out that he was actually a real person with a real show. Always thought the name was associated with a cartoon or something fictional.
Thanks for posting this! Your title is off by a decade or so. This series “Going Places with Gadabout Gaddis” appeared in the early 1950’s. His later show “The Flying Fisherman” appeared on the 1960s.
Great memories of childhood watching these episodes, thanks!
