Welcome to Outdoor TV Classics: The Project
This isn’t just a channel-it’s a labor of love to bring incredible outdoor adventures from the past back to life. We celebrate the Golden Age of outdoor TV with classic fishing, hunting, and adventure shows featuring the heroes and legends of the great outdoors.
After decades of work and significant investment to restore hundreds of old films and shows, we’re at a crossroads. Our goal is to gather 7,500 subscribers who share our passion for these outdoor treasures. Only then will we begin publishing this unique collection. If we reach that milestone, we’ll launch with excitement in 2025, sharing these timeless classics for all to enjoy.
For now, we’re releasing UA-cam Shorts to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. If you like what you see, give them a thumbs up and share with others. Hit subscribe, turn on your notifications, and help keep the spirit of outdoor adventure alive for generations to come.

First, the theme song just transports me back to weekend mornings as a kid. Second, this is how I still like to fish. No bells and whistles, simple fishing, a depth finder/fish located ok, but some of this modern technology as for me just takes the enjoyment of figuring it out.
Jim Thomas- he was a hell of a nice guy. I knew him in his later years. “Come on up fellas”
I loved Virgil ward and Kurt Goudy on Sunday afternoons back in the 60s. It was the joy of the week for a kid that hated school. I now live in theodosia on bullshoais lake😊
Those were the days, weren't they? Technology has made our lives so much easier. I wonder if it's made it better. Easier? Yep. Better? Not sure. Long live the Outdoor TV Classics. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love these videos .Many thanks
Thanks for watching, I love bringing these old shows back to life!
I am really enjoying everything you’ve uploaded so far and hope we can see the subscriber base grow in 2025 🙏
Lakes don't turn over in the spring. They (some) STRATIFY over time in the spring and summer.
Watching from Australia. Excellent !
Thanks for watching. We're sure hoping some of these old shows bring back fond memories for people.
Would you like to see more outdoor TV shows from the golden age?

Wish lone star beer or someone would sponsor these shows. I remember jim driving those international scouts on his show. I guided on lake Texoma’ from mid 70s till early 90s full and part time. My dad guided for 25 years there.
I watched Virgil every Saturday morning as a kid.
I watched him too! I actually watched every outdoor show that was on TV. Not so crazy about today's outdoor programs. Maybe I'm just too old. But those old shows give me a "warm and fuzzy" about the good ol' days. Thanks for watching!
@@outdoortvclassics No you're right, it's all one big commercial
It looks like it was fantastic after the New deal in the roosevelt administration developing these new fishing areas looks great
Those were indeed the beginning of the good ol' days for the Baby Boom generation. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
I fished for trout on the White River a few times. I lived near Calico Rock, and it was a good fishing area.
Great videos!!!Any Julius Boros?
Wow can’t believe I’m watching this 66 yrs later , gad was my first inspiration, I started with the cane pole , moved up to and old casting rod pops had a couple extras , and eventually moved up to a 2nd hand fly rod I bought with my money doing odd chores around the neighbors, I got it at a yard sale $5 bucks that was around 1958 , hollow glass 6 wt and reel , still got it !
I remember watching Mr. Gaddis on television back when I was 8 or 9. He is part of what got me interested in fly fishing because he eventually starts to do it. Back in the day when every fishing trip was an adventure!
Ha, back in the day when we was kids I was glued to a 16” black and white PHILCO TV Gadabout was my fishing hero , well he to got me going fly fishing , and your right fishing trips were an adventure, now I’m so old dust comes out when I fart , but my fly fishing days is still an adventure 👍🏼
Jim Thomas … wow, I remember watching this show with my dad in the 50’s and thought it was great then. What happened to all the comments that were on here previously about this show?
Thanks for posting this! Your title is off by a decade or so. This series “Going Places with Gadabout Gaddis” appeared in the early 1950’s. His later show “The Flying Fisherman” appeared on the 1960s.
Great memories of childhood watching these episodes, thanks!
Mst3k brought me here
Love the music on these old shows. Heard about Gadabut Gaddis, don't know where or when, but I'm amazed to find out that he was actually a real person with a real show. Always thought the name was associated with a cartoon or something fictional.
So glad I found your channel. This is an excellent project, reissuing these brilliant outdoor programs. Stay dedicated and motivated, the UA-cam thing is a tricky proposition, with followers coming quickly or slowly, in bursts and times of seemingly no growth at all. But if you stick with it and publish regularly your channel is sure to grow over time and will no doubt be extremely successful. People are hungry for this kind of content, the trick is getting it in front of them, getting them to learn about it and find it. Best of luck. This is a fantastic channel.
Jim Thomas is my wife's grandfather. If you have any more video/content, would love to see it.
Thx for showing this.
