- Little Shop of Horrors Movie starring Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene (1986) These are Video clips of the songs in the Movie. Enjoy!
This video in no way belongs to me and I don't want to step on the Copyright of said Movie Company that owns the rights to it. This is for enjoyment purposes only.
After hearing this song so many times I just now noticed that the dog they have in their dream life is the same as the plush dog she's holding at the beginning!
I saw this movie in the theatre when it came out. We all laughed at this scene because we were living in the prosperous '80s, and it was easy to mock that earlier time period. In the '80s we had so much more stuff, and much more impressive houses, etc. Audrey's dream house looked silly and quaint to us. But nowadays, with mainstream homelessness and poverty, how many people wouldn't love to live in something as nice as that adorable '50s house?
I see Herbert dancing in a wig even though this is the original
hahaha so true family guy brought me here
benielle bennie Herbert brought me here. Real talk, he should have got the spin off
Technically not the original as Ellen first played it on Broadway, but I can't argue with the sentiment.
She has a great voice. Ellen Greene is ridiculously talented. And the longing in the song is heartbreaking.
I Don't Care How Campy It Comes Off... The Sentiment Of Dreaming About Being Somewhere Better/Higher Than Where You Are Always Moves Me EVERY TIME I Hear Or See It... And The Fact That She's "A Dizzy Chick" Makes It All The More Heartfelt ~{💔}~
It is so touching that her goals are so modest.
Not great wealth or fame like many want
Just twu wuv and a normal house
I don't know that big enormous 12 inch screen was a bit out there
James Walton lol
James Walton Movie takes place in the 1960s. Audrey is dreaming about I Love Lucy and 12" Black and White TVs from the 1950s. It's pretty obvious that her dream life is very much like what her parents had (or at least what people imagined the "perfect life" to be like in the 50s)... but the important part is, she's 10 years too late, and there's a reason for this.... Audrey obviously didn't have a very happy home life as a child, which explains her obsession with trying to live that life out as the mother this time, since she couldn't as a child.... the sad family life would also be the reason why she puts up with being abused
THEGREATMAX 10 years late? Even if this movie took place in 1963 (which is the latest considering Kennedy is still alive), that would be only 4 years for 1959 and only 7 for 1956, the middle of the decade.
1tastiger1 No sir. The movie takes place in December 62. Howdy Doody was released in 49, and was hugely popular throughout the following decade, but had lost popularity by the 1960s because the world was changing and people were giving up on the super innocent version of the American dream
The idea is if Audrey and Seymour are in their 20s, than Audrey is wishing back to her formative teenage years
It sounds so much like little mermaid cause the same person that wrote this musical also wrote The Little Mermaid
On that note, did you ever notice that the theme song for the 90's cartoon A Pup Named Scooby Doo sounds so much like the opening track to Little Shop of Horrors? If you've never heard it, you should look it up here on UA-cam. You'll see what I mean.
@@Lincolntowncoupe HOLY SHIT YOUR RIGHT!
Snap! Didn’t even realize it!
One thing everybody who sees this video needs to keep in mind - The movie took place in the 60s, and she's dreaming about a perfect fantasy life from the FIFTIES (with the black and white TV and I love Lucy and Howdy Doody). Not only is she wishing for the perfect life, she's wishing for the perfect life in a time that's already gone, just like all of you watching this right now.
Well this is early 60s (it mentions in the movie Kennedy's still alive, whom which died in 1963), so there could be layover ideals into that decade before it got its identity (the 80s kind of seeped into the early 90s, for example. "-0" years aren't necessarily hard timebreaks.)
1tastiger1 The movie takes place in 1962 and they already had color TVs and she was still wishing for a black and white TV, and a more simple life
Dude ur far too deep
danny c that’s literally just the time zone of the film, it’s not really deep
THEGREATMAX eh most TVs still may have not of been colorized yet
My thoughts exactly. Her innocent hopes are tragic but the tongue-in-cheek lyrics help temper the tone of the song so it fits perfectly into the movie. To me, this is both the most emotional and charming song of the musical, more so than "Suddenly Seymour"
Don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it but in the original version the ironic thing is Audrey really does end up 'somewhere that's green'.
*cymbals sound* play me off Paul:D
This would be SO funny if I didn't hate you for it. Aaand now I'm crying.. THANKS.
Yeah in the OB, both her and Seymour die and deserve it. Not in the film.
Shanna Jackson This should cheer you up. Seymour and Audrey aren't exactly angels in the play. They both are pretty evil, so in it, they get destroyed by the plant because they deserve it. But because their personalities were changed in the film, David Geffen and Test Audiences in September 1986 were wise enough to DEMAND a new, happy ending. Thank them, they saved the film from bombing.
And in another ironic twist, they "technically" get out of Skid Row.
+Tornado1994 Wrong. They are the same in the film as they are in the long-running play.
This song is so beautiful - the promise of the (long dead) American Dream and Audrey's simple hope a future only slightly beyond her reach. Also, Herbert's version is so much funnier.
Also, she must have been the inspiration for the WonderBra!
But the funniest part of the song is how it's playing with irony.
***** I love to read magazines
how is it beautiful?
You should have written, (still kicking) White American dream, for that to work it was an American Nightmare for everyone else.
i love it. audrey's dream is classic. the american dream imposed on us, formed in our minds through media and advertising accompanied with the experience of inner city life. needing to escape, but again arrested by stereotype of a women needing men. so deeply engrained in our society that one person needs another for happiness. i love the song, loved the movie and absolutely love ellen greene's voice and her ability to point out and personify the weakness of female /social stereotypes.
this and the dentist song are my two fav. but i love them all, such an awesome movie.
The kids of today think "FROZEN" is a better musical than this, which makes me sad for them.
Excellent! Beautiful singing from Ellen. There's something very touching and heartfelt about the sentiment, the yearning for a lovely, simple life. Like Paul Simon says in Train in the Distance, 'the thought that life could be better is woven indelibly into our hearts and our brains'.
And of course, after this song the film just kicks right off...!!!
ALWAYS makes me cry!
Not everyone wants to be rich and wealthy. Some people just want to be happy.
I loved this as a kid
"Big enormous 12' screen" lol im only 24 and have seen this movie a million times growing up. I wasn't too fond of it back then, but as i got older it grew on me. i love it now. the only other musical that came close to this was Sweeney Todd, IMO.
the funny thing is that now many people watch movies on screens that aren't much bigger... on their laptops, with netflix.
thelouisfanclub True :D
12 inch screen? You were lucky, I watch on a 4" phone :)
Check out devils carnival, repo the genetic opera or phantom of the paradise.
OMG,i was only singing this yesterday, cant believe i have found it on you tube, made my day, watchin em all now while i have still got computer control!!!
Same here. I grew up in the early 90's & I used to be OBSESSED with this movie. So, I know what you're talking about.
I watched this movie for the first time in years the other night, and I sat there with the biggest smile on my face the whole way through.
One of my fave films!!!
And whenever I catch Herbert singing it on family guy, when he gets to the "big enormous twelve inch screeeeeeeeeeeeeeen: LOL gets me everytime!
The magic of this performance is the longing she shows for such a small dream. All against a cartoon background. Brilliant.
Knowing the original ending that got cut from the film, this is actually really, really sad to watch.
What's the original?
Carly Yanoff Audrey II ate Seymour
michael moss And Audrey.
Snowflake Productions I thought he saved her
michael moss Nope. There's a reprise of this song… she does go "somewhere that's green" but it's not like her dream. :(
i llllllloveeeeeee this
I just realized... If she cooks like Betty Crocker... Why do they eat frozen dinners?
Betty Crocker makes sweets and not dinners :) hence the cake and little snacks but frozen TV dinners! Haha
Lauren Gonzales Ohhhh I'm slow. Thanks!
Bravo! Couldn't agree more. I saw it for the first time as a little girl. I didn't get all the ins and outs of the dark humor, but I did see the love story.
imma keep it real, I didn't know the Family Guy song was based on LSOH... it's fucking fantastic.
the melody-- particularly the hook (..."there's plastic... on the furniture...") gets me every time. it's so strangely beautiful, no matter how jokey or who sings it. I can't describe why i find it so touching.
One of the two best songs from this musical. The American dream in the fifties in a nutshell. Matchbox-houses, housewives and plastic on the furnitures. Wonderful. (The song "Suddenly Seymour" gives me goose bumps).
I Don't Care How Campy It Comes Off... The Sentiment Of Dreaming About Being Somewhere Better/Higher Than Where You Are Always Moves Me EVERY TIME I Hear Or See I It... ~{💔}~
I'm loving this song.
This is a very nice and sweet little clip from the movie. Thanks for posting!
This actually brings a tear to my eye every time. thanks family guy.
This song always makes me fight back tears a little.
its a really clever song that way - her dreams are kitsch +cheesy which takes the edge off being overly sentimental - but also shows how sweet and innocent Audrey is so you feel for her more
One of the saddest most funny songs ever.
You want to feel sad for her lost dream, but the image is so funny, you can't
Victory C In the play, she sings and sounds ditzy. Because your supposed to laugh at her. In the film, its emotional. She deserves better not to die in the hellish environment she lives in. No wonder why David Geffen and the Test Audiences told Frank Oz to change the ending.
Tornado1994
I agree with you completely.
Audrey just wants love...
I Don't Care How Campy It Comes Off... The Sentiment Of Dreaming About Being Somewhere Better/Higher Than Where You Are Always Moves Me EVERY TIME I Hear Or See I It... And The Fact That She's "A Dizzy Chick" Makes It All The More Heartfelt... ~{💔}~
I am watching Little Mermaid and her song Part of Your World made me want to come here and hear this, the superior and very similar song.
*****
Written by the same composers.
*****
Both written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
I'M THE SAME.
"On our big, enormous TWELVE INCH SCREEN! :D" Did anyone else crack up at that or is it just me?
This is one of the best song from Little Shop!! WOO HOO :D
My older brother used to always watch this when I was a little kid (4-5 years old). Now I'm 16 and just remembered it and I'm going back to watch it. It's weird to kinda know the movie, but just now understand what's going on haha.
I Love This Clip A Lot.
I watched this movie in my highschool music class today. I love this movie and I've seen it quite a few times but i was baffled by the amount of people who were like "hey this movie ripped off family guy!"
I was glad they all agreed with me on one thing though, Ellen Greene is a great singer.
When I was a younger music student snob, I didn't understand Ellen Greene here but now I'm like, "oh yeah, definitely the best choice."
I watched this movie when i was a kid, it was good then, and its good now :D
Yes... it was so bittersweet and perfect. I saw the original ending first so it made the tacked on ending where she lives even more sickly.
her voice is gorgeous!
I'm not crying what u sayin mayte
People really think Frozen's "For The First Time in Forever" is comparable to this song. No, it's not. This song is FAR superior.
high quality film, thanks
I'm so glad to hear that. She was a lot younger then.
This song is lovely....and sad too...
Ellen Greene is possibly the most adorable person on the face of the planet. I mean, I've never actually met her, but the characters she's played are pretty frikkin adorable.
I'm so excited! My Chorus gets to sing with Ellen Greene in December for our holiday concert, called Red and Greene!
beautiful.
i love this song so much!!! lol always reminds me of that old perv in family guy lol
this movie is the best!!!! glad that i got it on dvd
I don't know what it is about this song, but it makes me cry every time. Maybe it's the sadness and hopefulness in her voice, or maybe remembering Howard Ashman and sort of comparing this to "Part of That World." They're pretty similar.
Ellen Greene is amazing! She's pure Brookyn yet she has a sweet voice!
I believe this song is really sweet. She dreams of the man she loves, and their future together. You also have to think that this is several decades ago, when technology wasn't the same as it is know, and how thankful she is just for these little things. I'm crying as I write this, because I want a life (with a guy like Seymour, not with the crazy dentist) like this someday, like what Audrey wants, somewhere that's green.
You will, my friend.😊💖I too relate to and get hope from musicals so I hope all works out for you.🥰
I like it when she touches the toaster, the music is just so bittersweet and sad
The ending--happy with just enough hints of total world domination to satisfy us all!
Best of Both Worlds!
i love this musical i have never got tiered of it, the performance she give is spectacular, you rely see the pain a the Carter.
it reminds me of a few girls i know
She is brilliant as both actress and singer. I remember seeing her do this person in the original show years ago. Her original version of Audrey is a wonderful homage to the tradition of the ditsy blonde who really knows something with her heart of gold, a la Judy Holliday.
Memorable.
this is one my favorite songs ever
luv this song cuz its about her fantasy and love for seymour.rick moranis is soooo cool espicially with ellen greene!!!! :)
I honestly like this better than the Broadway versions because the voice she uses just has so much character and I love it
You can clearly see this song's influence in musical songs like "Part of Your World" and "Sal Tlay Ka Siti."
Ellen is sooo amazing! I love her!
"Big, enormous, 12-inch screen."
I love that line.
At 12:00 pm a live interaction of The little shop of horrors plays in OKC every weekend since the 80's.
Funny as heck.
I think .. this movie is so misunderstood as the love story it is.. Ellen Greene had a voice that could rock you to the core!!
I love Ellen Greene's voice. She's such a sweetheart!
Very clear similarities to "Part of Your World"
I will be honest, I got a little choked up just hearing her voice. It's a really pretty song. I will be even more honest, I cried when Herbert on Family Guy sang his.
Sorry, but I heard his first, although now I have a desire to see Little Shop of Horrors now.
0:45 A match box of our own
1:28 He rakes and trims the grass
My sister played Audrey. I love this song. I think her character, while not the brightest, is really sweet.
I watched this 369 times... Not joking :D
great song
I love this song so much it is my favorite in the whole movie
my favorite song in the whole movie
This is my favorite song from Little Shop of Horror
Fun fact- they designed her plush dog off of Ellen Greene's actual dog! Also, notice that the dog in her fantasy looks just like her stuffed animal!
Thx for this video! I saw the parody on family guy and wanted to see the real thing!
i love this song
PART OF THAT WORLD!
shocker! its an awesome movie!!!
I absolutely LOVE her apartment and the house she dreams up...
Oh, she's so cute! And I don't care what anyone says--I love her singing!
This is the song that convinced Test Audiences to DEMAND the filmmakers change the ending. They felt sorry for Audrey & didn't want her to die. And that the Plant wasn't Seymour's fault.
inspiration for part of your world right here
her voice is wow
this is actually very sad
This is my cheer up song. :)
thanks dude ^^
Family brought me to this. Didn't understand the context then, I do now.
Man , that toaster is her pride and joy . Lol
I looked this up because it was on Family Guy!
+Jeff Bragg not sure that's something you should admit out loud.
@@DanJackson1977 you gottem, I was gonna say something very similar
I can't believe how SERIOUSLY people are taking this song!
My niece did this in her school play, I was trying so hard not to laugh thinking bout Herbert.
I love this part of the movie. they make a nice couple
