Did you uncheck everything for the Nvidia side, like he did for the AMD side? That part confused me. When he talked about AMD chipset, I thought he was talking about the CPU. So, uncheck all the boxes for an Nvidia install or no? I'm upgrading the exact same... 1660 Super to 3060 Ti
I just ordered one of these today! Can't wait to game at more then 10fps with decent graphics. I have a 750ti with a memory problem, so this will be a great upgrade.
@@ThisBytesForYou I did! It's been doing really well! Since 9 months ago, I been using it in my Optiplex, and just today was able to get the side panel on. I had to use a PCIE extender to be able to plug the gpu in. The front USB plug was in the way, but that fixed it. Then I had a problem putting the side panel on, due to the 8 pin connector was out too far. So, just today I cut a hole in the door to close it. I must say though, it runs HOT with the panel on. The 3060 manages to get up to 89C under load. (Which is the max temp limit for this gpu, you can set in MSI Afterburner). And the cpu temp gets to 90C. It is a i7 3770. I think the fans are clogged from dust, since it's been 3 inches from the ground with the door open for the last 9 months. I need to take it apart to see though, since the gpu is in there somewhat permanently. The CPU cooler has also been needing a good cleaning. This is the most awesome Optiplex I have seen before lol. It has 32gb ddr3, a rtx 3060, and a i7 3770, with a ssd. And with the side panel on, it doens't look like it's worth more then any other cheap old Optiplex.

@@ThisBytesForYou As a person who has never built a computer before, your video's were an invaluable step by step how to. I had a perfect build with no errors. I'm sure many people can likewise attribute their success to your concise how to video's. It's greatly appreciated your replies and interactions connect you with your subscribers. With regards to the card... I like it very much! it's a big step up from my Asus GT730 on my Samsung UHD monitor. The rendering and textures are amazing. Perhaps the one thing I greatly appreciate about your take on this card is the positive reaction to the quality, where as others have reviewed it in disparaging terms, sadly some have nothing good to say about it It fills a very interesting niche, especially for those of us who just needed a GPU (ANY GPU!) I was trying for a 3070 FTW. The RTX3060 came along first and was a compromise and for my needs was more than adequate. I overbuilt and need to learn how to get more out of my system. I found the performance great, for it's intended price, as well as thermals. You coming from a GT730, it was like night and day for sure for you my friend, that is a TREMENDOUS upgrade, congrats, but there is nothing wrong with overbuilding, in my opinion. Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. From a 950 to a 3060 XC thats a tremendous upgrade, good stuff bud
So I substantially followed the guide, with a few changes, and am up and running fine with the new card. It's striking how much smaller RTX 3060 ti xc is compared to my old RTX 2060. Running Windows 10 Pro, 22H2 on Ryzen 7, 3800x. Despite all the Debby Downer on the 3060 ti from a lot of quarters it was the right choice/price for a mid-life graphics card change on a 4 year old computer - that still does a good job on the games I play and functions I need. As Ellsworth in Deadwood: "Experience hard come by, but thoroughly learnt" on making sure graphics card is matched to motherboard. Killed my old Sandy Bridge-E motherboard during Covid after going from 2 to 6 gig with gpu change, then playing games that were it turned out at the edge of the system's abilities. My slight changes: 1. The PIN worked fine dealing with "Safe Mode". 2. To get to Safe Mode, I went Start - Settings - Update & Security - Advanced Start up Options. 3. This brought up Troubleshoot, clicked on that, then Advanced Options, Startup Settings, then clicked restart, once the machine started up, picked and pressed F4 for "Enable Safe Mode". 4. That brought up "Enter PIN", entered it and was operating in Safe Mode. In the DDU first time dialog, to be safe, I unchecked the INTEL Specific Options box also. Rest of it per video: unchecked the AMD Specific Options, and the Windows picks drivers prevention at the bottom. Used the swap as opportunity use my new hand vacuum/blower to blow and vacuum clean inside, the little PeroBuno $70 one on Amazon. Quite worth it.
awesome bud, happy I could help, The 3060, be it the TI or non TI are great cards, for sure. As for the changes, its understandable, this is a 3 year old video, so a change for sure is unavoidable, glad you were able to get it, as for the PIN, that's nice. It used to be that even though the pin allowed you to get into windows, it didn't in Safe mode, then caused others issues when trying to get back into regular windows mode, glad MS finally fixed that. NIce about the PeroBuno, I use the Xpower, I have had it for years and it still works great, if you want to check out the video: ua-cam.com/video/YxoFkxO-Rco/v-deo.html So what did you think about the PerBuno, is it powerful and do the batteries drain quick? You mention its a vacuum too, the Xpower is just a blower, does it vaccum well?
@@ThisBytesForYou PeroBuno can vacuum and blow. 3 speeds. Vacuum didn't get as much as I wanted on the CPU, but the blower served the purpose. Very good attachments I think. Battery life can't tell on, but it's easy to charge. When I went to Windows 10 about a year before Windows 7 support ended, the PIN was enforced on me, even though I had a password. Seems like it superseded the password function at least in my case.

As far as I know, GeForce experience will automatically delete your old drivers and replace them. On first boot with the new GPU it will run off the Universal Windows drivers, then just run Geforce experience and it will take care of the rest. Thanks for making the videos on these cards, they are starting to hit the real market a bit. I got one today through EVGA's auto notify system.
Yup, I go over this in the video. It will delete the drives, what it can but its like you performing your own surgery, its hard to get everything a 3rd party doesn't care, it just focus' on what it needs to, never had an issue with it, but of course you can use which ever method you prefer. yes, I do recommend it as windows still has drivers built into it, older drivers, that have issues, its why they make newer drivers. The installer for the newer drivers does not do a great job at removing them, this will help.

awesome my friend, so very happy you enjoyed this video, and I am sooooo happy it worked out for you. So, I assume your using Windows Home, I do these in Professional, but there are slight differences. This was an issue with older versions of windows, If you keep up to date with updates and/or just made your windows 10 or 11 install drive, you should be good and you can skip that step
no problem my friend, and that's why I went into the explanation because a lot of people think the same, your not totally wrong, many times that will work but I would prefer it always work, which is why I do it this way. I am sure you have heard about people with newer drivers (it happened not too long ago with NVIDIA, and not too long ago with AMD, and again a while back with NVIDIA) burned out their cards.... I have been doing this since I was 13, before DDU came out and I would follow the same practice, uninstalling drivers, going through the registry, hidden files, user folders, system32, etc DDU just does it all for you and its great.

I plan on upgrading my GTX 1060 to the RTX 3060. This tutorial looks pretty simple. Would I need to get a new power supply for this or would I be fine?
I can't help you if you don't help me, you have the PC in front of you, I don't but the video card requires 550Watts, wattage wise it will support it but since I have no idea what it is.... I can't tell you if you have the cables.
I didn't do any of these since my gtx 760. I always just poped in the new gpu, without an issue, and windows/nvidia did the work. This is obviously not recommended but I had a gtx 960, a gtx 980, and hopefully a 3060 shortly, and I've never had trouble with this. Thanks for the tutorial tho!
most of the time you will not face an issue, but when you install an updated driver, it could cause corruption then cause issues in games and overall windows utilization, then you get a new card and that corruption goes over to the new card, because the card is using those drivers. Then also, uninstallers don't always work well, then when you reinstall, many times the driver will not overwrite the file, so you have several different files for different driver versions which causes tons of issues. Very happy its worked for you as it is. You may notice a performance increase using this method though. And always happy to help.
@@ThisBytesForYou Okay, thank you very much, I learned something today! When I will have my new gpu I will definitely do this, maybe reinstall cpu drivers too, or whole windows, since I upgraded my whole pc. Thanks for the video again!

This video is super helpful, thanks for taking the time to do it! I did have two questions - I am about to install an my Geforce RTX 3060 by Aorus. I only had a integrated GPU and not an original video card - do I still need to uninstall drivers first? And secondly, my card has an 8 pin and a 6 pin connection - are those for two separate cables or a single cable that has the pig tail with two ends on one side? Thanks again and extra thanks if you find time to answer these!
@@joshbruins1861 actually, i missed the Aorus part, this one only had 1 connection, yours has 2, so yes, they would be 2 separate cables, do not use daisy chained cables.

at 10:46 you can see it's a 6+2 but I didn't mention that because it's irrelevant, as long as it is 8 Pins, an 8Pin PCIE or a or a 6+2Pin PCIE it will work.
I just bought my 3060 today for a new computer build. In the mean time, can I replace my 1060 with my 3060 in my current computer? Or should I just wait for when I get all the new parts for my new build

Thanks bud, I do appreciate it. Yeah, DDU is amazing. Sucks, I uploaded this video last night at around 9PM, and the HD version is still processing, you probably saw it in SD
If the card screw holes arent matching with the case screw holes (like in this video), is it "safer" to push the card towards the left, push the case in towards the right to match them up, or slightly lift the motherboard from the right???? Thanks!
haha, so very happy you enjoyed it my friend, just made another video card install video coming out Monday, I wish I would have seen this comment, I would have used something like it hahah.

Did you ever need nvidia’s new PCI-E shaped cable adapter? Or is it ok to just plug any PCI-E cable in as long as it fits? Just asking because I just got a 3060 OC and I wanted to make sure 🙏🏼 thank you for the video
No, that is only needed for the founders edition cards. You can use any 8 pin connection, just make sure all the pcie connections are coming straight from your power supply, you cannot pig tail the connections. Also, thanks so much for your kind words, it means the world to me and I am so happy I could help.
Then also, you are not paying a technician $100+ dollars to install the card, I am giving you the knowledge to do that, so yeah, the need is kind of there.
no offense taken at all my friend, but understand, while I would love to do everything for free, because I really do love doing what I do, this all takes up time, time away from my family or doing anything I want to do, so I come home from a long day in the office, then work some more at night, then all weekend. My time is valuable if not to me, then to my family and someones got to pay for it, since its not you, the ads pay for it. Then you are saving money by not paying someone to do it, and you have to watch a few ads, most of which you can skip, I don't think its a lot to ask, but what do I know. I value you stopping by and checking out the video, maybe a sub to, just explaining why things are the way they are.
Thanks so much my friend, some might tell you differently, I kind of have a short fuse but I am trying sooooooooooooooo hard to fix that, I really do appreciate your kind words.
I go over this in the video, but no you don't, if you like to have potential issues, if you want the best performance and least amount of issues, you DDU
I got what you mean, but your display drivers come in sharp because Microsoft installs what they call, the best drivers because they are WHQL, but usually they are very old, don't perform as well and can have issues, even if they are WHQL, I recommend you do it all the time.

Awesome well explained tutorial. In need of some advice though. I'm gonna be installing a gpu on my pc that has no gpu besides the integrated graphics (5700g). Do I still need to follow the ddu install step? And prevent windows from updating while in safe mode? Or can I not install ddu and not be in safe mode and proceed like normal. Sorry I'm new to this. Hello Im doing a fresh install for a 3060 in a all Brand new pc I built, do I need to do all this process of removing the drivers? Ryzen 7 with integrated graphics.
it is highly recommended because during regular windows mode, windows is using those drivers, so its hard for the OS to let go of some of those files, which is why and how a lot of issues occur. It can't remove them while be used, and can't install over them either while being used so you end up using several different driver version, because you didn't want to restart your system and use DDU to save a few seconds.
@@ThisBytesForYou one thing more brother i have asus tuff b365 plus gaming board and rx 570 4gb as existing gpu. I wana install rtx 3060 12gb, so should i uncheck all options under amd drivers tabs just as u did in video 5:37 or not?

@@bishoppax9995 nah, I have done it many times with an intel chipset and never had issues because if you noticed, its for intel DCH, the video driver, but you are not using the intel graphics driver so you are fine, just remove what ever driver you used before, if you used NVIDIA, remove NVIDIA, if you used AMD, remove AMD and if you had Intel, remove intel, but its in the drop down.
Yes, if you have an AMD CPU, you have an AMD chipset, leave everything amd unchecked, check everything for Nvidia.

I just ordered one of these today! Can't wait to game at more then 10fps with decent graphics. I have a 750ti with a memory problem, so this will be a great upgrade.
Yeah, you will get MUCH better FPS over the 750TI, congrats my friend.
bought it I assume, you can get them at stores, its just hard to find sometimes.

With regards to the card... I like it very much! it's a big step up from my Asus GT730 on my Samsung UHD monitor. The rendering and textures are amazing. Perhaps the one thing I greatly appreciate about your take on this card is the positive reaction to the quality, where as others have reviewed it in disparaging terms, sadly some have nothing good to say about it It fills a very interesting niche, especially for those of us who just needed a GPU (ANY GPU!) So I substantially followed the guide, with a few changes, and am up and running fine with the new card.
My slight changes:
NIce about the PeroBuno, I use the Xpower, I have had it for years and it still works great, if you want to check out the video: ua-cam.com/video/YxoFkxO-Rco/v-deo.html
So what did you think about the PerBuno, is it powerful and do the batteries drain quick? You mention its a vacuum too, the Xpower is just a blower, does it vaccum well?
@@ThisBytesForYou PeroBuno can vacuum and blow. 3 speeds. Vacuum didn't get as much as I wanted on the CPU, but the blower served the purpose. Very good attachments I think. Battery life can't tell on, but it's easy to charge. When I went to Windows 10 about a year before Windows 7 support ended, the PIN was enforced on me, even though I had a password. Seems like it superseded the password function at least in my case.
I used it today, when I changed a cpu, it had me redo my pin, so it does look like they are putting more behind it, thats good

Appreciate the warning about static and then about the little clip. Definitely might have forgotten. GPU prices for this card have finally gone down to what I consider acceptable, so I purchased one. Been stuck with a 1050 ti for nearly 5 years.

@@mfvicli 2 years, yeah I think you will be good.

@@ThisBytesForYou okay, I appreciate the help!
@@rantmilk always a pleasure my friend
Nice explanation, but I believe that if you already have an Nvidia card it is not necessary to ddu the drivers when installing another Nvidia card.
It can very very relevant, older drivers can cause issues, it's why they make newer drivers, to fix old issues and bring about better performance.
also, if you bought a new card, that just came out, those older nvidia drivers wont know what it is, so yes, very necessary
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for correcting my information.
no problem my friend, and that's why I went into the explanation because a lot of people think the same, your not totally wrong, many times that will work but I would prefer it always work, which is why I do it this way.

Well, do you know the model number and manufacturer of your power supply?
@@ThisBytesForYou I don't have the model number sadly. According to the booklet I got with it (pre-built), its an Apevia 600W gold 80+ power supply.

No, that is only needed for the founders edition cards. always a pleasure my friend, but then will you be sending me payments for my time and being away from my family or should I do it a different way?
Then also, you are not paying a technician $100+ dollars to install the card, I am giving you the knowledge to do that, so yeah, the need is kind of there.
I didn't mean any offence. Thanks again for your service 👊🏻
no offense taken at all my friend, but understand, while I would love to do everything for free, because I really do love doing what I do, this all takes up time, time away from my family or doing anything I want to do, so I come home from a long day in the office, then work some more at night, then all weekend. My time is valuable if not to me, then to my family and someones got to pay for it, since its not you, the ads pay for it.
Then you are saving money by not paying someone to do it, and you have to watch a few ads, most of which you can skip, I don't think its a lot to ask, but what do I know. I value you stopping by and checking out the video, maybe a sub to, just explaining why things are the way they are.

it is highly recommended because during regular windows mode, windows is using those drivers, so its hard for the OS to let go of some of those files, which is why and how a lot of issues occur. It can't remove them while be used, and can't install over them either while being used so you end up using several different driver version, because you didn't want to restart your system and use DDU to save a few seconds.

I don’t have a PCIe cord. Is it needed to run the card? Which cord do i need to get?
yes, you do need one, it comes from your Power supply, what is the manufacturer and model number of your power supply?
I built a computer with an EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC Gaming, everything was fine, and when I turned on the computer for the first time I found the graphics card fan was working initially for half a minute and then stopped knowing that I only downloaded Windows 10 pro. My question is, does the graphics card fan work when working on Adobe programs and similar editing programs?
Or is there something in the graphics card is damaged? Thank you for your effort and help us.
this video will answer your question, but yes, it is by design and always a pleasure my friend: ua-cam.com/video/uO351_LhGh8/v-deo.html

Are there any extra drivers for video editing that can be installed? I thought I had seen them in the gigabyte page but I don't find them now. Thanks for the video, very helpful!
no, and never download video drivers from any one other than NVIDIA or AMD (of course depending on what card you have). I use the 2080 or the 3090 for video editing and I use the regular gaming drivers and so very happy you enjoyed this video, it means the world to me.
This video is very informative! Helpful indeed! Thank you, Imma subscribe to this channel!!

not really, but they are coming. I have a huge backlog of products that need reviewing, I am late on many, once I am done with those, I will do a video on overclocking for sure.
@@ThisBytesForYou alright thrilled to see it! would be nice if shown on the EVGA 3060 12 gb xc

When the card has a pcsi port on it does it need it or can i choose ti not have the cable?
If it has 1, 2, 3, 4 pcie power connections, they all need to be connected, I mention it in this video.
Does this card light up when it’s on? Cause mine doesn’t, and LED Sync doesn’t seem to work
sadly no it does not but you can see the video and it will show you.
Is there a reason not to disconnect the power cord entirely? I do that anytime I'm working inside computer.
To keep ground, to avoid frying your card
@@ThisBytesForYou OK that makes sense, I usually were a ground strap bracelet, but will do this - belt and suspenders as they say.
the grounding straps are very annoying to me, they get in the way but if you feel comfortable, both ways work
