  • President Trump's choice to lead the Environmental Protection Agency might put it on the endangered species list.
Bill Moyers takes on President Trump’s choice to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has a track record of putting the business interests of the energy sector before the environmental and health interests of the public. He has spent his career fighting the rules and regulations of the agency he is now being nominated to lead. His expected confirmation threatens to make America great for polluters again.

Think of what you learn watching 8 minutes of cable news vs. watching 8 minutes of Moyers. It's night and day. Bill Moyers, you are the people's champion.

Kerrie Macon ? What did he defeat? It does frighten me that he has his finger on the nuclear button. He lacks the temperament for the position he holds.

Shaun Tanger if I had voted for Trump I would be looking for an excuse now to justify it... just like you. The Orange headed buffoon lacks the temperament, lacks the values, lacks the wisdom necessary to be president.

Bill Moyers, you are a treasure. There is no way to serve the public interest if journalists lose their capacity and outlets to inform. What a delight to see you yet again coming out of retirement - and on the day following a historic outcome in Washington State (via the trial of a "Valve Turner" climate activist, Ken Ward). Your work in 2014 and 2015 informing the public on The Public Trust Doctrine is bearing fruit.

Thank you Bill for saying it like it is. How do we change the direction and power that Banks and Corporations have? The Government seems much less powerful than they are. Lastly, the greed and hypocrisy of politicians makes me sick.
How could the Republicans sleep at night after allowing such individuals to accede in such powerful positions?

I remember 1970 vividly & all of the dead fish when we went boating. You couldn't even see thru the water! It was greenish brown sludge with soapy foam on top. Trump should remember this too. Does he? I would guess, no.

    People:
What is the National Association of Manufacturers?
A union of manufacturers. A VERY, RICH powerful union.
The only unions that the GOP conservatives don't want (except police, because they want their votes and protection) are labor unions.
Let's call them what they are.
Unions to protect the interests of big money corporations, not the public's health and well-being.

So the question becomes...what can be done about this. We know how this happened...but what do we do about it now??? Seems that the Gvmt. isn't going to do anything about this ..though changing the guard may be helpful..but power is corruptible and that point is showing itself to be very true...so how do we change and put things right. The Administration wants these divisions because it gives them time to change things in their favor...so while we are all arguing the points of contention they are going about their merry way and doing damage. So again, what do we do to change this?

Rightly, we all fear pollution. BUT Scott Pruitt is a backlash against what the EPA has become under Obama -- essentially, the Dept. of Socialism. The EPA, under Obama, has engaged in a concerted effort to take ownership of property, for all practical intents and purposes away from ordinary people, making our private businesses and factories, in effect, public utilities, with every aspect of their being controlled by environmental regulation -- all in the name of clean air and water. The problem with their basic premise is: the EPA does NOT limit itself to clean air and clean water but have used this as an excuse to control air, for example, that DOESN'T involve CO2 emission!! CO2, by the way, is part of human respiration -- and because of the supposed threat CO2 represents to climate change, the EPA has moved with regulations in a broad panoply of areas to discipline and, indeed, control EVERY aspect of American economic AND private life -- AND WE NEED TO ROLL THAT BACK!!

At this stage in life I'm a rancher (grew up on same farm/ranch). But for the first 20 years of my adult life I worked is a lab tech in different kinds of laboratories. I started as a medical technician for the Army - after that I worked at a civilian hospital for a number of years, then tried my hand at many different kinds of labs like agricultural labs, water treatment plants, and even a short stint at a railroad lab.
I know what you guys are thinking about my comment and the reason I say what I say about this subject is that there is a LOT of evidence that there are natural phenomenon occurring that are WELL beyond our control that are the REAL contributors to climate change - not the least of which is the electromagnetic circumstances in which our planet now finds itself. Take a look at the magnetic pole movements, especially recently (south pole has now left Antarctica), AND think about how our geomagnetism interacts with the Sun's magnetic field(s) - then you'll start to get an idea of how complicated this subject actually is (high-energy cosmic sources of radiation originating outside our solar system is another factor). So, CO2, while in large enough quantities could pose a problem, the fact that there is abundant life which continuously re-processes it via metabolism, tells me that life naturally deals with CO2 in a way that is beneficial to itself (i.e. life, for the most part, can repair the atmosphere on its own).

Jim: Try reading up on the actual science.
Scientists know from the isotopic signature of the carbon that the accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere comes from human sources due to the burning of fossil fuels.
Also, the greenhouse effect is proven science and the natural forcings (TSI and the Milankovitch cycle) are actually cooling the planet. The only reason the planet is warming is due to GHG.
In fact, this is so widely accepted that every major scientific organization in the world supports anthropogenic global warming (AGW): www.opr.ca.gov/s_listoforganizations.php
Look at this webpage to get the basic summary of the science:
      climate.nasa.gov/evidence/
And here is an accurate graph of the combined land and sea temperatures:
      data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/
Hope this helps you to understand the basic science.
By the way, excess CO2 is actually harming crop yields due to heat waves and droughts.

I'm surprised that Moyer, who has done some excellent work on the Deep State, has not made the connection between that and the climate hoax. There is some excellent science available that refutes both the role of CO2 in planetary temperature fluctuations, and the lack of a scientific consensus that CO2 is little more than a minor role player in climate. You can start here. www.wattsupwiththat.com
