will never forget when me and my good friend yoni soaked up some good attention at a jazz comp with our jazz band when we got to be 'those 2 jazz bassoons from that one school' when we each did a solo on this song
Interesting score. We played this at about this tempo in my high school jazz band back in the 70s. I don't remember either the guitar or piano parts being so written out (basically, they were just chord symbols with quarter-note slashes). Good performance, thanks for posting.
WAIT ANOTHER BARI SAX? My jazz band is playing this arrangement and I just started playing along with the melody, and my band director has yet to notice-
@@notapeskybeeno4950 just started playing the song this week. That is my only issue with this song. Though it is kind of nice to sit there for 20 measures and listen to everyone else play the intro. Kind of relaxing

Any other trombonists who are trying to figure out the solo on the page while listening to a different solo in the recording?
Ye
How did you know?
I figured it out
I know it
Same for tenor sax 😭
Trombonist went off 🔥
1.25x speed for that Basie swing.
Jo hell yeah
More like 1.5x
Yeah
My Jazz Band is playing this and I feel like that's a good way to make us all cry 😂
The Basie Tempo is crazy good. I don't know how bass and guitar (Green) kept it up.
This music is golden.

Thats how the arrangers do “educational jazz” charts now. They even notate the whole swing beat lol
