Accurate and high resolution testing of Cal, Alk, Mg, Nitrates, and Phos. That's the holy grail of automated water testing and it's just not happening yet.

With the Neptune Apex only having the old 6 socket energy bar in the UK (yet we pay 35% more than in the US) & it would be a great if the GHL is an adequate replacement. If you want to know anything about Ozone speak to Dom - the co-owner of Kraken Coral as he swears by it. He's a really nice guy, knows his stuff and would be happy to help.
It's 100mg per 1000,litres an hour of ozone, and a control will turn it off when the level is reached. But I've not noticed any difference in a skimmers performance when connected. Water ozonator YL-A_ _ _N is the best unit I recommend to buy.
I recently installed the profilux 4 and KH director on my tank. The hardware is excellent but the install was difficult. The software is not intuitive. I’m hoping the interface improves over time. I am very happy with the product though.
My motto: "Anything repetitive, can be automated." ...but easier said than done! 😁 I used to have an 'automated water change system' of just having a pump in the DT with the tubing pointed out into drain outside. Another pump in saltwater mix with the tubing pointed into the DT. One switch to 'drain water' and another to 'fill water'. Done. That's the most obvious "automated" function I say... which still requires input from the hobbyist. I used to do this on my 30 gallon, but with my 250 gallon, I do it manually.

I’ve been really against the idea of a controller for much the same reasons as you in terms of fear of complexity, but I have a further reason - I don’t trust that things with only a wireless interface are going to be accessible when I need them. I’ve been following telegraham and a few other very respected youtubers, who use GHL controllers and dosera, and I’m becoming mighty tempted. But I still can’t get beyond the fact there’s no manual interface. No buttons to push or dials to twiddle, in case my wifi/Bluetooth is not cooperating. Have you encountered any issues accessing the app on your phone? 🤔 I’m so very reluctant to spend a lot of money on this system, only to find I’m unable to work with it reliably....🤷♀️
Now that you can safeguard yourself from ozone overdoses it might make ozone more appealing. I heard Ozone can breakdown poisons which might be good for people who keep things like boxfish or other toxic creatures.
Love GHL and their products however at the moment a Profilix only supports 1 KH Director (so you can only monitor/control 1 tank). Who knows what the future holds.

I will be going GHL when I set up my tank, pity the Ion Director will not be available until the Autumn. Look forward to a 6 month review.
