Yeah, some other things which annoy me but idk if anyone else cares: 1) When scrolling through your map list, the song has a slight fade out which abrupts the preview point of the next song, whereas in stable it feels more instantaneous, and sometimes when you're scrolling fast, the first second of a preview point of a song could determine whether you play the map (at least for me) 2) I don't understand why you have to hold to pause on a map, I just want to tap ESC and retry quickly, also I have a habit of insta retrying a map before I play it cause to readjust my grip. 3) The UR bar has those distracting icons on the sides, I have my UR bar big so even more so. 4) My cursour movement (using tablet) 100% feels worse. If they fix these I would be pretty happy, I don't play the game for pp anyways I just want it to feel like stable.

i get random lag spikes on the mobile osu laser version from 20 to 60 ms and it kinda messes up everything, making it feel like an rng game sometimes 😭 is there any way to fix it?
Hello, So I'm having an issue with osu!Lazer, I'm trying since 3 days to find a way to fix it. So here's the problem : I have the habbit to play on my laptop and since 1 week or something when I'm in game for more than 40 sec, my game become laggy. I saw on the FPS meter that it was the the draw FPS (idk what it means lol). And so to fall of 120 fps to 60 gives an impression of HIGH LAG. I was searching on many online forum some way to just fit it, so I tried : - Change the setting on NVIDIA panel the low latency mode on Ultra, didn't work - Same for the Vertical Sync on off didn't change anything - I changed the rendering engine, same prob - Tried for unlimited FPS or Vsynch but same effect - Singlethreaded don't help too - Empty the cache ... - I even tried to put it on administrator mode, I mean ... So here's more detail on my config : - My graphic card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - I'm playing on fullscreen, obviously - As I said, I play on a laptop and it's a Lenovo Legion Y540 so I don't think it's a performance problem lol, and I have still a lot of memory on it. So, if someone have the kidness to give some tips or give me a solution for this type of issue, this will definitely make my day. Thank you if you just read all my comment :))).
Interesting, can you check that you're not using Optimus, and that your PC is using your GPU? It usually uses optimus for laptops which is not the best for performance
hi, catch player here, vsync even with gsync suck asf, the catcher is way too laggy for me !! just to tell you that limiting the fps in nvidia control pannel helped for me ! Power mode : Maximum performances low latency : On (dont know if it works ) Max fps : 850 in case i want to play unlimited fps, x4 refresh rate works good too for 165 Hz monitor Opengl render : on my graphic card just in case lol
I know it’s not their priority to make lazer look anything like stable but one of my biggest ‘issues’ with lazer is the song selection screen. There are other places where your old skin doesn’t really work but the song selection screen looks disgusting imo.

if i disable the "tablet" option my tablet won't work at all in the game it's like the game doesn't allow the cursor to be inside or something (i use the oiriginal intuos drivers which work perfectly)
I'm neither of the three guys from the intro. I'm the fourth guy who tried lazer, enjoyed it, configured it right, got better performance, didn't care about pp more than the improved experience and had a lot of fun coming to an improved version of osu!. One weird thing tho: yesterday I got a first place score on a 2.5 star mania map because the old scores have a x0.96 multiplier which makes no sense for mania. More than a year ago I tried Lazer and it seemed different, I'm going to download it again and do it. Also, why did peppy made lazer instead of modifying osu? (I'm lost)

Lazer is made so peppy doesn't have to develop another osu anymore anytime soon! And in case it has to be updated it's gonna be easily done because of modern and more flexible code

No way I change to lazer as osu!mania player Input lag are good but update lag are 8-9ms on my laptop instead of 2-3ms on stable. And awful framerate of course I am should upgrade my setup for it but I'm broke :)
Do not trust anybody who even dares to recommend VSync on a rhythm game. You would rather limit your framerate externally via RTSS below your refresh rate so you use your monitor's Adaptive Sync feature (if available). Also, do not change your renderer. DirectX 11 is the most stable for both NVIDIA and AMD, and changing it will not improve anything (if it helps, the game reads your GPU features and change defaults anyway).
Seems like you didn't watch the video. Inputs are tracked at 1000hz and Vsync makes sense if you have a 400hz monitor like me, I put multiple disclaimers about that! Changing to the renderer was recommended by the game creator to deal with audio latency issues. I respect the comment tho! :D
Honestly, as a long-time Lazer user myself (since 2017), I already kinda forgot that osu!stable is a thing lol (no offence, I'm using Linux so Lazer is only my option) For anyone just coming here to look by, I personally would recommend new players to try out the new default because it's really made for new players. It's just so much better especially if you play the game outside Windows PC.

I think it was:
whatever your full area's width is/2 (to get the full area's half width), let's call this "A"
Then do your current area width/2, let's call this "B"
To get the location, you do A-B
Repeat the process for the height

1) When scrolling through your map list, the song has a slight fade out which abrupts the preview point of the next song, whereas in stable it feels more instantaneous, and sometimes when you're scrolling fast, the first second of a preview point of a song could determine whether you play the map (at least for me)
2) I don't understand why you have to hold to pause on a map, I just want to tap ESC and retry quickly, also I have a habit of insta retrying a map before I play it cause to readjust my grip.
3) The UR bar has those distracting icons on the sides, I have my UR bar big so even more so.
4) My cursour movement (using tablet) 100% feels worse.
If they fix these I would be pretty happy, I don't play the game for pp anyways I just want it to feel like stable.
@@thinkbuilder1780 You don't have to hold escape if you follow my setup video!!!!
Also peppy said yesterday on Twitter that all of those player quality of life stuff is kind of all is left to fully release Lazer!! So future updates will mainly be things like that, at some point he said there would be a button that would be like "make me look like stable" kind of thing, it's just matter of time
Apparently the loading times is ties to issues when youre trying to connect to bancho, so if you log out and play offline it will be instant, idrk how that correlates to one another, so yeah asked peppy or open up discussions on the github, i have seen a few people said something about this on the github too so a fix is probably coming idk.
This should be made official and pinned by peppy in the osu! homepage so everyone transitions!
6:45 - you've got spammed with it i believe, but that's not a bug but incorrect anchor point
Thanks for letting me know! :D
I didn't even know it was a thing and I was always calculating it, right before releasing the vid someone told me to do top center anchor for the HP bar so that's what I did 😅, but that makes more sense, where you want to anchor it, is the position it should be, got it!
please do not recommend users to increase the frame limiter, it serves absolutely no purpose
edit: sorry, just saw the thumbnail, now that i watched the video is actually fine ty for not telling users that
:3
3:18 It's mainly for compatibility with older hardware.
hey man! this is pretty useful, but i noticed you didnt include a section for the editor. i know there arent many configurations aside from a few hotkeys so i wanna ask, is there any chance i can make a solid full map on the lazer map editor? i would like to explore its features but ove only seen some comments indicating the contrary but from a few years ago. maybe now its bearable? i dont know, you tell me.
you definitely can! trust me:)
i get random lag spikes on the mobile osu laser version from 20 to 60 ms and it kinda messes up everything, making it feel like an rng game sometimes 😭
is there any way to fix it?
Hello,
So I'm having an issue with osu!Lazer, I'm trying since 3 days to find a way to fix it. So here's the problem :
I have the habbit to play on my laptop and since 1 week or something when I'm in game for more than 40 sec, my game become laggy. I saw on the FPS meter that it was the the draw FPS (idk what it means lol). And so to fall of 120 fps to 60 gives an impression of HIGH LAG. I was searching on many online forum some way to just fit it, so I tried :
- Change the setting on NVIDIA panel the low latency mode on Ultra, didn't work
- Same for the Vertical Sync on off didn't change anything
- I changed the rendering engine, same prob
- Tried for unlimited FPS or Vsynch but same effect
- Singlethreaded don't help too
- Empty the cache ...
- I even tried to put it on administrator mode, I mean ...
So here's more detail on my config :
- My graphic card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
- I'm playing on fullscreen, obviously
- As I said, I play on a laptop and it's a Lenovo Legion Y540 so I don't think it's a performance problem lol, and I have still a lot of memory on it.
Power mode : Maximum performances
low latency : On (dont know if it works )
Max fps : 850 in case i want to play unlimited fps, x4 refresh rate works good too for 165 Hz monitor
Opengl render : on my graphic card just in case lol
I know it’s not their priority to make lazer look anything like stable but one of my biggest ‘issues’ with lazer is the song selection screen. There are other places where your old skin doesn’t really work but the song selection screen looks disgusting imo.
Quoting peppy the creator of the game from a tweet one day ago:
"we have a long journey ahead.
don't like song select? we're fixing that. imports from stable too slow? that will get better. performance not quite there? it'll improve every release going forward. results screen not quite what you expected? it's getting revamped. "
@@Shikkesora Tbh, I knew this already but I still don't think they will bring back song select skinning which is like the main reason I don't like it. but ye I'm not a lazer hater I just prefer stable for now
Song selection screen is banger imo, way better then stable
@@user-bf7td1gn3ttheyve confirmed theyre bringing back all skinning capable in stable and more, itll just take a while

@@Lunaui Yeah, I'm a developer too so I know how long stuff can take some times especially with a small team, but as I said I'm not trying to hate, I'm just saying what I think. Also, I didn't know they will try to make everything "skinnable" again, just assumed it's gonna stay like that.
please do not use Vsync, any other option is fine just not that
probably not good in most cases!
but i have to say, it feels waaaaay better than vsync in stable
feels amazing for me as a high hz user and makes me play better too! :D
@@Shikkesora I tried it and it suffers the same problems as any Vsync implementation, higher input lag. It's definitely less than on stable but still quite noticeable. If it works for you that's fine but should definitely not be the recommended setting.
Well, yeah instantly recommending Vsync, to only ocasionaly mention later that you've got 400hz monitor is a really weird thing to do
As a mouse player, I can recommend turning off High Precision Mouse, because it is sometimes glitchy for me, because I also play VALORANT and there, I got the tipp to turn off Mouse Acceleration in the Windows settings as this is more reliable than the Osu one

i havent played osu in about 2/3 years, i can confirm i wouldve believed it was a skin or an update
I would enjoy Lazer, but I'm a low end player and my performance on Lazer is really just not optimal.
Peppy said there is gonna be a "potato" mode in the future, we just need time!! :D
I don't know if anyone else has this problem or if it's just me, but Lazer seems to shuffle the order of maps when I sort by "Date Added" (how I sort literally all the time). If anyone has a fix for this, please let me know, it's the only thing keeping me from switching to Lazer.
@@swankifiedthereal the newer maps are up, instead of stable where they are in the bottom
@@Shikkesora I noticed that it tries to do that, which is... fine. I guess. But even that is inconsistent. Some maps I downloaded last week are right next to maps I downloaded 2 years ago
i cant play with osu lazer because its just too dang laggy. on the normal version you can just go to settings and turn on compability mode on with other 2 buttons to make your game not laggy but there NO SETTINGS REVOLVING LAG WHAT SO EVER AND MAKES IT EXTRA HEAVY SO WE CANT EVEN PLAY IT. My mouse sens feels really weird on Lazer, hopefully i can fix it but as of now it's unplayable
normally I get under 1ms around 0.3 to 0.5 in osu! but in lazer it doesn't go bellow 1 is this how it's suppose to be because it feels different and Im pretty sure its making me play worse
lazer is capped at 1000fps so i dont think its possible to go below 1ms input latency
osu!lazer always felt way more responsive for my system anyway, just had a lot of stutters. Going back to stable was always a pain. Now with most major performance issues fixed I just can't go back. Pp resets or not, I will stubbornly keep playing lazer.
Song search is still a pain though, but I have 100k beatmaps so ofc it lags out.
As a bonus you get better performance with videos/storyboards than on standart.
Wholesome! Also, never had any problems with song search, but maybe that's because lazer is in my NVME
@@Shikkesora It's probably it. I keep my client on NVMe drive, but maps are stored on separate HDD using symlinks.
Follow up: as per February 19th update, song select works flawlessly for me. Also shaved off some insignificant amount of offset, might be huge for some users, as some experience a huge leap in performance.
Gonna try this someday. I play with 200ish fps on stable and 30fps on lazer like a year ago
2:18 you can just click the mode icon on the left and it'll take you to its keybinds ^^)b

why is my "update" stuck at 300 fps and my "draw" at 150?
edit: oh it was because my monitor is 75 hz and i had vsync
if i play with unlimited framerate i get 1 ms
but there is no point because the important thing is the input not the update or draw
Thank you SO MUCH! Finally able to play lazer without lag :)
Do you have any recommended tablet to use for osu lazer?
Im returning player and i feel my current tablet is out dated so im considering on purchasing a new tablet .
Ctl 472!!
i really dont know wtf is wrong with lazer dude, my pc runs osu on like 900 fps just fine but when it comes to lazer i cant even get half of that fps and its VERY unstable, my cursor literally lags and drops inputs while i play
Switched to open gl and removed snaking in sliders and now the game feels glorious, back to 900 fps, thanks for the vid king
if i disable the "tablet" option my tablet won't work at all in the game it's like the game doesn't allow the cursor to be inside or something (i use the oiriginal intuos drivers which work perfectly)

If you see the kiai stars that's given by THE SKIN you USE, not by the game itself. It behaves exactly like osu! stable in that sense! if you have stars all around, it means the skin that you use doesn't have a transparent "star2.png"! Most skins nowadays don't use star2 (kiai burst), but if you have that, it means it's a "your skin" issue, not a game issue. As I just said, stable DOES THE SAME THING!

0.75ms is unnoticable unless you are a 1 in 100000000000000000000 human. The real problem is the fact you are getting frame drops.
It's not the input delay issue, it's the frame drop issue that you're facing. I already submitted the issue way back two years ago and it's not completely fixed.
