I didn't realize that out of the massive amount if corps that have participated over the years, only very few have won.
Most likely it's because the bigger corps have corporate sponsors. Many had to fold because they couldn't keep up.
Unfortunately DCI became a money maker rather than helping youth.
Yep. It’s dominated by a few. The “Winning” corps tend to attract top talent and top instructors which helps to maintain their top tier status.
Also most of them are from California
@@andyzavala2349 Not sure where you're getting your "most of them". Only 3 of the 10 corps to win the championship are from CA. Presently, there are 4 corps from CA in the World Class.
It would definitely be nice to see some more variety out there in titles, but I wouldn't want that at the cost of propping up corps for the sake of giving the trophy to someone else.
David Jack 4/10 is still a huge number. Even if you take away the kingsman, that is 30%. Both phantom and cavaliers are from Illinois, and for even just 20% of the winning corps to be from one state, that’s still a pretty big number
they need a crowd favorite show award each year
+traxxas man Honestly I'd like that a lot, even if it's not a trophy or anything acknowledgment of other "winning" shows like that would be nice.
Yeah they do it in WGI. Why not DCI?
That would be awesome! We'd probably see a lot of variation in the winners every year, since the blue devils don't tend to have the crowd favorite show (being honest)
bluecoats would probably win every year
MrTrickBike+ I think we all know what would’ve won that back in 2014
I was wondering why the cheering wasn't that loud, and then I realized everyone cheers at the 2nd place announcement, lol.
Love hearing "The Cavaliers!"
Hope to hear it again soon
1900maniac YES!
1900maniac PHAAAAANNNNTMMMMM RRRRREGGGIMENT!!!!
Still waiting :(
Can't belive Crown has only one once. And Rip Star of Indiana
Videogameaholic6999 crown has only been a powerhouse for the past 8ish years so it makes a bit more sense. I have a feeling it’s a crown year, blue devils are off to a bad start
Aaron Laughlin yeah their first year in the top 12 was 1995. Its actually very cool to see how competitive they are these days.
Carolina Crown had a good show last year. This year’s closer is awesome
crown was open class for a while too
E M S Star of Indiana didn’t die, they became so innovative they transcended drum corps and became Brass Theatre and eventually blast.
I like how the first year the cavaliers won he Brandt was so happy.
With a score of 99.65, THE BLUE DEVILS... goosebumps as always
they broke history, they could have a prefect score, but that one judge
musicforlife1237 It was all four music judges, they scored 19.8 in brass, 19.9 in analysis, and 19.6 in percussion, that's where they lost the 0.35 points
DONT BE THAT JUDGE
***** after that, that one judge was never heard of again
musicforlife1237 lol
i need to hear the cavaliers winning again
cowmilk cloud I would say this year is our year as cavies fans but crown and bloo came out on fire
Here comes the BD
You could see that people were practically crying in crown in '13..
You could see how happy they were when their name was announced. That feeling of immense pride and satisfaction when all the work and effort you put in really pays off. That's one of the many things I love about DCI.
You need to watch the 08 awards.. phantoms reaction gets me every freaking time. The entire corps was in tears. Not discrediting crown at all, but you want another feel-good win? Lol
Going past 2008- Phantom Regiment seriously gave me chills.
Scott Frost
🎶⚡Me 2 and I saw the show live.
Full on bodygasm⚡🎶
Immediately gave me goosebumps when 2008 rolled around
Never in my life have I heard "The Blue Devils!" been said so many times.
19 times!
When The Cavaliers won for the first time, Brandt was so happy like "THE CAVALIERS YES FINALLY HOLY SHIT!!!"
+Luke Shaffer He nearly blew his mic.
Luke Shaffer they won the championship before the Cleveland cavaliers won the NBA championship
it gets more depressing the more you hear the blue devils lol
well they're amazing lol they aren't my favorite corps, crown is, but I understand why they win so much lol. They pop.
My favorite corps is the bluecoats, but I feel that some years other corps had better shows than the blue devils.
+Richard Goreham agreed
Richard Goreham so true
Agreed. They should be called the Blue Narcissists. It's actually nauseating after a while.
It's neat to see how many times the cadets have renamed
My band director was actually with the Cavaliers when they won in '92. Pretty cool to know someone that's won a DCI championship.
My BD was with the Cavaliers in 2002 and 2004 when they won both
My BD was in 2005-2008
the guy who writes the drill for my band Marched cadets in the late 80s
Ethan Schultz my former section leader marched blue devils 2015-2017 so far
@@ChiptuneDCI oh my god vanguard 2018 was amazing, thats so sad
I love star of Indiana salute
THEY NEED TO COME BACK
I know this was 6 years ago but Carolina Crown is the modern day version of it
@@fishy_vinny Please, Star visually makes Crown look like a high school band.
What would be nice if in 2017 Santa Clara Vanguard won. 50 years and one of the only corps left from when DCI started
Would love to see the Vanguard win again, but there are still 7 of the original 13 founding corps still active. Blue Stars, Cavaliers, Madison Scouts, Vanguard, Troopers, Cadets, Crusaders. The 6 gone are 27th Lancers, Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights, Blue Rock, Kingsmen, Argonne Rebels, De La Salle Oaklands.
You forgot the Belleville Black Knights..
Babs Courtney sorry to disappoint you, but the Black Knights were not a founding member of DCI.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_Corps_International
scvanguard1 I like how you use Wikipedia as your source lol
Alex Garner Alex Garner I've been a drum corps fan since 1982, so I don't need Wikipedia to quote what I know. I posted it as a reference for those who have not been a fan as long as I have.
I actually attended finals for 2013 and 2014. Both times just happened to make history in big ways. I'll never forget the experience of what it was like to be there. The video fails to even come close to what the crowd actually sounded like as the announcements were made for both years. Brandt Crocker does an excellent job, knows how to play to the fans perfectly!
Felliniesque’s score of 99.65 absolutely amazes me every time.
CAROLINA CROWNNN
The way he says crown is just way to satisfying.
Nothing gets me more hyped than “thE CAVALIERS!!” And “PHAAAAAAAATOM RRRREGIMENT”
Hoping bluecoats pull through this year, they have a good show!
Elizjah jack anddddd back to blue devils
Imagine how excited the 2014 Blue Devils were when they won 1st place as the highest ranked show in all of DCI history. Matter of fact, imagine how pumped the age outs were!
cavaliers 2002- the record score, wait no it's the Blue Devils now. :(
And Cadets 2005 lol
Shall be broken once more by any core that will put in the effort to break it
The Cav's show will always be better than the BD
*insert star of indiana here*
Charlie Burnap plz
Charlie Burnap Acording to the Cavaliers they actually won this year :)
42 years and Bluecoats are yet to win a gold. I am not amused :/
Bluecoats HAS to win this year, for fuck's sake! I can't wait to see them get a gold.
Felipe França For sure, Bluecoats are the next new corps to win. Tilt was innovative, but if they want to win 2015/2016, they need to reinvent the activity, which is why BD has been the dominator. Take a look at the last 5 or winning shows and for the most part, they all redefined the 11 minutes on the field. At the same time, Crown's percussion sounds like Cadets of the 2000s with Aungst onboard, Bloo should have momentum passing from last year to this year, Cadets have an aggressive show with 10, Blue Devils will be Blue Devils, Vanguard has a championship team established, and Cavies are stepping back into the game. What a season 2015 will bring!!!
Keyo Wilson
I don't really see what was so "reinventing" about BD 2014. It has nothing on Crown 2013 or Cavaliers 2002.
BandNerdcp For instance, take the beginning of the show. No other show I remember has started out with 40 trumpets for nearly a minute of technical passages....it is very "unusual" to the ear. Without going into further detail, what BD did last year (and every year since 2008) is present fresh material onto the field in a "fresher" format. If you pay attention to every BD show, no two shows are done the same way, which is what separates them from the other DCI corps. True.....Crown 2013 was far different than any other show out there, but when you add the professional touch as well as execution, those qualities are present in Felliniesque. I can guarantee BD will again change the DCI show format in 2015 because that alone is innovation and what puts points on the GE sheets.
In my opinion (which isn't professional by any means), BD doesn't really "reinvent" shows but do change it up a little bit. For the most part, they play complicated parts very well and keep the tempo fast. Bluecoats looked to please the audience and they did for me. While a lot of people think that Bluecoats should have won, the technicality and precision of the Devils brought them the gold. Kinda sucks, but thats the way that even our elections go in the US. Blue Devils might win this year, but a lot of corps had absolutely AMAZING shows from 14. I'm sure there will be plenty of newcomers (even me) that found these videos from the 14 season will join their favorite corp and loads of new talent will arise. 2015 season should be big, and thank god I get to go to the Eastern Classic because I don't want to miss any corps.
1987-1993 No Blue Devils Wins
And still, placement finishes most corps would happily take.
Even in the 80s Crocker sounded bored of saying Blue Devils.
Crown should have won with inferno was a damn good show
bd just stepped up their game on finals night, like they do most years
although I wished they won i loved that show
Buddy Bafoolagan the only problem with inferno was that the music was too easy, even though they played it almost perfectly the cadets, bluecoats, and devils had harder music and played it just as well
"and played it just as well"
Just no.
Crown's percussion was a disaster on Finals night compared to the night before and BD was on fire. It happens, BD has been undefeated on more than one occasion and lost on the night of Finals.
As much as I adored Inferno, their final run wasn't as good as it should've been. Many people who marched with Crown that year admitted themselves that their finals run wasn't their best run.
Fun fact Blue Devils are the only Corp to get a score of 99 twice. 99.05 and 99.65
Got to love the the yell the guy does for phantom regiment
May PR return to its old self. My favorite drumcorps.
99.65 is probably the moment of pure chills
OMG WATCHING THE BLUE DEVILS LIVE WAS LITERALLY THE BEST SURREAL EXPIERENCE IHAVEV EVER EXPIERENCED OMG
Yay this was uploaded on my birthday
1:07 the way that the announcer screams of the Cavaliers threw me off LMAO
It's still unbelievable the score the Blue Devils achieved in 2014! That's a near-perfect score!
...
STAR OF INDIANA!
It's crazy how little Carolina Crown has won and how the bluecoats haven't won at all (in the past 42 years)
And now bloo is up there with the best :,) so proud. 💙💙💙
1974 sounds like an mlg video
I wish there was more variety x)
Great achievements by all that have won but wow 0 shake ups over those 42 years except 1 or 2 surprised, a shame really
Well they gotta maintain some level of professionalism. lol
Crazy to see if they start getting ties again
I love this video but I think it should be updated every year
1992 Cavies was my favorite champion announcement.
1976 is where *all hell was let loose*
i just found and posted the 77 Bridgemen who were DQ but a legal tech allowed them to perform not compete and they were unbealievale. They were rebels.
Can we get this updated once DCI hits 50 years!!!!!
Definitely!
goosebumps Bleu Devils
I stopped counting the blue devils winning streak after 8...
It's 16.
+Bob Saget 17... 😡
Now It's 18
19 ack
blue Devils needs to chill
Matt S. why
Nah
That's impossible. If you have a car with the best engine, the best parts, the best oil, the best gas, the best driver, it's impossible for it not to perform well.
Actually, as of 2018, only 10 corps have won DCI (this is assuming that the Boston Crusaders don't win on Aug 11, 2018): Anaheim Kingsmen, SCV, BD, Madison Scouts, Cavaliers, Star of Indiana, Phantom Regiment, Carolina Crown, Bloooo, and of course, Garfield Cadets (Cadets of Bergan County & The Cadets)
the cavaliers should have won 2003 ........they should have won........they deserved it
Blue devils almost got a perfect score if don't for SCV. When people heard that the Vanguard got the percussion caption people went crazy.
Please make another video marking 45 years
I really hope to see
-Boston Crusaders
-Blue Knights
-Blue Stars
-Academy
-Pacific Crest
-Oregon Crusaders
-Colts
-Troopers
each win at least one championship in my lifetime. Probably a stretch for some, but frankly, they deserve it
Serry Jeinfeld academy is on the move
I agree on BAC
And no disrespect, but just Academy too? The one-time finalist with the highest placement of 11th, as opposed to 21-time finalist Blue Stars with the highest placement of 2nd in 1972, and 13-time finalist Blue Knights with the highest placement of 6 in 2015, are the the only ones (besides Boston) only capable of winning?
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it sure is a stretch
a stretch I hope they can pull off
Troopers came close in 73
What happened to star of Indiana or did they rename it?
After 1993 they left DCI performing and went on tour with the Canadian Brass....eventually morphing into the Broadway show Blast!
And before anyone says it, Star did NOT leave DCI because they lost to Cadets...the contract with Canadian Brass was signed BEFORE THE SEASON. They were leaving DCI in any case.
99.65! Wow
wow there was a time where blue devils did not win the entire time
I want the Star of Indiana to win again!!
*oh wait....*
boom.
Woosyp 3 don’t worry we still have Carolina crown aka Star of Indiana 2.0
Go crown!
Alot of Blue Devils.
The Kingsmen from SoCal!
Ridiculous score inflation. 99.65. Give us a break, DCI.
with all those championships, I expected BD to have a threepeat. Nope, Just Cadets and Cavs (though they got more).
Haha even though the comment is old its still funny, they've been trying so hard to get a three-peat
I didn’t realize the Cavaliers were THAT good!
Their championship shows still stand as some of the best of all time, and they honestly should have one more title. They got robbed in 2003.
You can find most of their championship shows on UA-cam if you do a little searching.
Awesome moment at 2:24
Bluecoats are my favorite still
My band director was in SCV the second time they ever one in 1978. He’s ancient 😂
That was their third. Almost their fourth (they led at semis going in to '72)
1:07 "THE CAVALIERS"
Take a shot every time you hear “the blue devils!”
You might be dead before the video ends
the cHAAAVAILERS
I didn't think it was possible for a tie
Not anymore. They implement rules so that doesn't happen again.
The 92 Cavaliers announcer was very excited about the win LOL
first win. They were in the originals too.
so much cavaliers
Could you guys update this? It's 2019 already!
come on, it’s only been 5 years, can you not remember 5 winners?
0:23 yes :D
My Band Director is at 1:44!
Gotta add the wins that came after this video was published 👍🏻👀
2015: Blue Devils (Ink)
2016: Bluecoats (Downside Up)
2017: Blue Devils (Metamorph)
2018: Santa Clara Vanguard (Babylon)
And 2019 Blue Devils
2021 Phantom Regiment (Harmonic Journey)
2022 Blue Devils (Tempus Blue)
Predicting Blue Devils with the Cut-Outs but I REALLY wanna see Crown win with The Round Table: Echoes of Camelot
Time to add BD again
1986: “The bloo, devils”
2014: “THE BLUDIVALS”
Has the same guy been announcing this whole tiene?
This two Crown members at 2:21 were just like "Yeah no shit we won"
@pianoman598
You get the exact score as them.
If you tie does that still count as a win? because if so then cavaliers got three in a row
Goooo blue
My favorite announcement was cavaliers 1992
Best ever., They were so good but never good enough and finally one of the originals wins. It was awesome
42 years of blue devils uniforms
The troopers... sad life
there should be a new updated video
Go star of Indiana! 1991 and in my opinion it should have been star 93 as well
Yes!! Star of Indiana was robbed more then once.
Should be updated for this or next season
Blue Devils have come so close to winning 3 in a row a lot. With another chance for a 3 peat in 2016
rip
Luke Shaffer Rip cause downside up was amazing
***** it also helped that as dreams are made on was lackluster for BD's standards
EpicMeh I didn't think it was too bad but yeah it's definitely not what we're used to from BD
it was their lowest finals score in 10 years
This video just draws so much hate to the Blue Devils
Blue Devils are two words heard too often in DCI. Not dissing them, but like seriously.
The Blue Cadelliers
How can there be two corps winning at the same time??
The corps are graded by scores, so if two corps get the same score, they both win
It's called a tie.
Less emphasis on “The Blue Devils” as time went by
I've never realized that cavaliers was destroying the game back then
